Actually looking at it, it's mostly just one guy spamming a video about doing a certain gesture to indicate you're being abused, plus random flat-earther and gore videos such as a pitbull eating a man's dick.

Edit: Screencap for posterity. Opted not to include the pitbull video.

Gab Tells Governments Who Demand Censorship To Get Lost, Facebook Censors On Behalf Of The Biden Admin

AUGUST 5, 2023
The “Facebook Files” recently made public have shed light on how White House officials exerted pressure on the social media giant for special access to tools to target vaccine-hesitant users. They also criticized Facebook employees for not sharing enough data, contradicting White House claims during that time.

At Gab we stand firm in our commitment to freedom of speech and will never bow down to any administration’s demands for censorship, be it the Biden Administration or any other. Our resolve remains unwavering, as we regularly reject censorship requests from governments. We have a long history of very publicly turning down censorship demands from the UK, Germany, France, and many others.

Unlike Facebook we believe in allowing the free flow of information, regardless of whether it aligns with popular narratives or not. It is disheartening to witness Facebook taking steps to suppress not just false information but also mere opinions about vaccines. Internal documents reveal Facebook’s deliberate efforts to create a “vaccine negative environment” by demoting posts discussing negative side effects or questioning vaccine mandates, even though these discussions are not based on false information.

When the pandemic hit, conventional social media platforms faced a daunting task: curating vast amounts of pandemic-related content while attempting to control the spread of information. This often led to concerns about the suppression of genuine debates and the Facebook Files reveal that this overreach was absolutely happening on other platforms. In stark contrast, Gab remained true to its principles of free speech, providing a welcoming space for users to engage in open conversations about vaccines, COVID origins, and lockdown measures.

Gab’s refusal to censor discussions surrounding the pandemic allowed a myriad of perspectives to flourish. Users felt empowered to share their thoughts, concerns, and even dissenting opinions without fear of being silenced. As a result, Gab became a platform where experts, skeptics, and ordinary people could engage in constructive dialogues and learn from one another.

Amid the chaos of conflicting narratives and rapidly evolving information, Gab acted as a beacon for critical thinking. By encouraging uncensored discussions, users had the opportunity to analyze various viewpoints and make informed decisions. The free exchange of ideas on Gab facilitated the growth of a well-informed community that could better navigate the complexities of the pandemic.

It’s quite astonishing to learn that even memes were a point of contention for the Biden White House. This shows a worrying trend towards stifling creativity and the sharing of ideas. According to Facebook, posts expressing concerns about the Biden administration’s Covid vaccine mandates and criticizing government overreach were subjected to reductions because they were perceived to contribute to a “vaccine negative environment.”

In an email, Nick Clegg, Facebook’s then-VP of Global Affairs, shared his conversation with Andy Slavitt, President Biden’s White House senior adviser for the COVID response. Slavitt was visibly outraged that Facebook had not removed a meme about vaccine side effects. The meme used Leonardo DiCaprio’s iconic pointing image with text suggesting potential future class-action lawsuits related to the COVID vaccine. Slavitt argued that the post drew a direct comparison between COVID vaccines and asbestos poisoning, which allegedly undermined confidence in the vaccines among the Biden administration’s target audience.
At Gab, we embrace diversity of thought and allow users to express themselves freely, even if their opinions might differ from those in power. We firmly believe that open dialogue, not censorship, is the path to progress and understanding.

Gab’s commitment to free speech extended beyond just pandemic-related discussions. By remaining transparent about its content policies and rejecting censorship requests from various entities, Gab earned the trust of its users. This trust formed the foundation of a strong and loyal community, united by the belief that open dialogue is paramount in times of uncertainty.

If you value the freedom to speak without fear of suppression, Gab welcomes you with open arms. Together, we will safeguard the principles of free speech and defend our right to share true information and honest opinions without interference. Join us in building a platform that truly values liberty and open discourse.

Gab Emerges as the True Speech Platform, Contrasting The ADL’s Strategy For X/Twitter

AUGUST 11, 2023
A newly surfaced undercover video has revealed a concerning truth: the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) seems to be exerting a significant amount of influence over the policies of X (formerly known as Twitter.) The video implies that the ADL may be calling the shots at X with the primary objective of preventing users from joining alternative platforms like Gab.

This may explain the palpable shift in the X’s marketed approach to free speech contrasted with an ADL-led policy of “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.” On the same day this footage was released X CEO Linda Yaccarino appeared on MSNBC to tell the world that X would be censoring “lawful but awful” content and that their primary policy going forward will be the ADL’s demanded strategy: “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.”

These people love using subjective terms and phrases that rhyme in an effort to sell you censorship while at the same time pretending to promote free speech. Terms like “healthy” “hateful” and “awful” are all undefined by the ADL and X, giving them the ability to decide that anything they want fits within the very wide frame of these subjective terms and qualifies for censorship.
In stark contrast to X’s evolving stance, Gab has positioned itself as a true bastion of free speech for the past seven years. Unlike X’s adoption of the “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach” philosophy, Gab stands firm in its dedication to preserving both aspects of free speech: being able to say what you want while having other people actually be able to hear what you are saying. This doesn’t mean those people have to continue associating with you after they see what you say, but it also doesn’t mean that you are shouting into the void all alone.

As I’ve written about in the past, there is no freedom of speech without freedom of reach. If you are sitting alone in your basement talking to the wall you have all the “free speech” in the world, but what is the point if no one can hear you? At the behest of the ADL, that’s X’s new policy for people they deem to be “awful.”
The phrase “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach” has gained prominence in the discourse surrounding X’s recent policies, but where did this phrase originate from? The term was coined and first used by Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the ADL, on April 5th, 2022. Interestingly enough just nine days later on April 14th, 2022, Elon Musk started the process of acquiring Twitter. This phrase encapsulates the ADL’s new strategy of permitting speech while limiting its visibility. In previous years the ADL’s strategy was to get people banned completely from Big Tech platforms.

As we learned in the recent undercover video that strategy failed because millions of people simply went to Gab, a platform the ADL has zero influence or control over. This terrifies the ADL. They thrive on their power to influence and control the flow of information online and the last thing they want you to do is leave the platforms they control and join the single platform on the internet they don’t: Gab.

X’s new “speech not reach” approach has been met with skepticism, as it appears to be a calculated attempt to maintain control over the narrative while feigning support for free speech ideals. Just weeks after the deal closed one of the very first things Elon did was announce Twitter’s (the ADL’s) new policies: freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.

A Containment Zone Cloaked as Free Speech
The contrast between Gab’s unwavering dedication to free speech and X’s shifting approach prompts us to consider the underlying motives. X’s adoption of “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach” raises suspicions that the platform may be creating an ADL containment zone, allowing users to express themselves into the void within limited confines. This strategy has led critics to question whether X’s supposed commitment to free speech is merely a facade to draw in the right wing in time for election season.
The lure of a blue checkmark and the illusion of free speech may have also enticed users to share personal information unknowingly, while being confined to a limited shadowbanned corner of the platform speaking to themselves.

As the battle for free speech intensifies in the digital realm, the divergence between Gab and X becomes increasingly apparent. The ADL’s influence on X’s policies and the contrasting approaches to free speech have sparked a broader conversation about the future of online discourse. The events of this groundbreaking day prompt us to reflect on the power dynamics at play and the implications for the preservation of open dialogue in the digital age.

Over the course of seven years, Gab has carved its path as a bastion of free speech, resolutely refusing to bow to pressures from censorship proponents, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and even multiple governments. One of the defining moments in Gab’s history came when we refused to succumb to demands from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to censor certain content. Gab’s response reflected its steadfast stance: to prioritize free speech while providing tools for users to self-moderate.

Gab’s seven-year history stands as a testament to its unwavering commitment to preserving free speech. Through ups and downs, controversies and triumphs, Gab has refused to waver in its dedication to providing a space where open dialogue can flourish. As discussions around online censorship and content moderation continue to evolve, Gab’s journey serves as a reminder that the battle to protect free speech is an ongoing endeavor that requires vigilance, empathy, and a resolute belief in the power of unfettered speech.

I've read through this and the financials are actually better than most "household name" tech companies that have already gone public.
Revenue trajectory is absurdly good and at this rate is projected to reach the black by end of this year barring some horrific reversal, but because Torba is black-listed from the money laundering pipelines used by the fakes and gays of Silicon Valley that kind of downside risk is less likely.
Amazing that someone this spergy can manage to build revenue momentum like that.

Celebrating 7 Years of Gab: A Journey of Resilience and Free Speech

Hello Gabbers,

Today we celebrate a remarkable milestone: Gab’s 7th birthday. It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come since those early days and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome, the battles we’ve fought, and the victories we’ve achieved together.

From the very beginning Gab was built on a foundation of free speech, open dialogue, and the belief that every individual has the right to speak freely without fear of censorship or suppression. However, our commitment to these principles wasn’t met with open arms by everyone. We faced a series of challenges that would have deterred many, but not us.

We’ve weathered storms that came in the form of being banned from banks, app stores, hosting providers, and payment processors. These challenges could have crippled us, but instead, they fueled our determination to create a platform where free speech could thrive. We knew that building a platform like Gab wouldn’t be easy, but we were prepared to take on the fight.

The battle didn’t stop there. We found ourselves going head to head with foreign governments, including those of Germany, France, and the UK. These governments demanded censorship and control over the content shared on our platform. But we stood our ground, firmly believing that the voice of the people should not be silenced by external pressures. Turning down these demands wasn’t just about our platform, but about defending the core principles of free speech that are essential to a healthy society.

Throughout these seven years, we’ve also faced our fair share of challenges from the mainstream media. Unfortunately, instead of accurately portraying Gab’s commitment to free speech and open dialogue, some media outlets have chosen to paint an inaccurate picture of our platform. Despite the unwarranted attacks and attempts to tarnish our reputation, we’ve remained steadfast in our mission.

We believe that the best way to address such narratives is through transparency, education, and a continued dedication to providing a platform where individuals can exercise their right to speak freely without fear of censorship or manipulation. Our journey has taught us that the pursuit of truth and freedom requires resilience in the face of adversity, and we’re more committed than ever to ensuring that Gab remains a bastion of open discourse and free speech.

In moments of reflection like this, it’s impossible not to recognize the divine guidance that has carried us through every obstacle and triumph. With deep gratitude, we acknowledge the grace of God that has been our unwavering anchor throughout the years. From the trials that tested our resolve to the triumphs that celebrated our persistence, His hand has guided us through it all. It’s through His wisdom that we found the strength to stand firm in our principles, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable opposition. As we celebrate Gab’s 7th birthday and the resilience that brought us here, we humbly offer our praise and gratitude to the Almighty for His grace.

One of the most significant steps we took on our journey was building our own server infrastructure. We understood the importance of independence and self-sufficiency. By creating our own infrastructure, we ensured that Gab would remain a sanctuary for free speech, even when faced with external pressures to conform.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of the Gab community. To our GabPRO subscribers, donors, advertisers, and investors, you are the backbone of this platform. Your dedication and belief in the importance of free speech have been the driving force behind our resilience. Every step we’ve taken, every challenge we’ve overcome, and every victory we’ve achieved is a testament to your unwavering commitment.

As we celebrate our 7th birthday, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your courage, your passion, and your belief in the power of open discourse have kept Gab alive and thriving. It’s not just a platform; it’s a movement—a movement that stands against censorship and in favor of the fundamental right to speak freely.

Here’s to the journey we’ve embarked upon, the challenges we’ve conquered, and the victories we’ve celebrated. As we look to the future, let us continue to stand together, unyielding in our commitment to free speech and the values that make Gab a beacon of hope in a world where censorship is all too common.

Thank you for being a part of the Gab community and for making this platform what it is today. Here’s to many more years of resilience, growth, and the power of free speech.

Onward and upward,

Andrew Torba

I thought it was well established that anti semetic content is just typical for Gab. Just another Thursday.

Yeah, I guess it was like that from the beginning. I remember when the_donald moved to patriots.win there was a lot of dissent about what they allowed to be posted, and naming the jew was absolutely haram. I'm pretty sure at least in Stonetoss' comment sections there were some mentions of it.

Yes, for Gab. But not for the_donald. See my post above.

Gab Stands Firm Against Censorship Demand From New Zealand Government

Andrew Torba, August 18, 2023

GabFacebookXTelegramEmail
Dear Gab Community,
We want to keep you informed about an important development involving Gab and its commitment to preserving the principles of free speech and open discourse. Our platform, which is based in the United States, has recently received a censorship demand from a foreign country – New Zealand. We feel it is our responsibility to share this news with you, as transparency is crucial in upholding the values we hold dear. As many of you already know we regularly turn down censorship demands from foreign governments including France, Germany, and the UK among others.
First and foremost it’s essential to understand that Gab is situated in the United States, where governmental interference with political speech is categorically prohibited. Our platform benefits from the robust protection of U.S. constitutional law, which empowers us to make decisions about the content we host without external influence. Regardless of how offensive certain content may be, we firmly stand behind the principles of free expression.

Our commitment to these principles means that we do not censor lawful content for any reason, and we do not yield to orders from foreign nations that attempt to curtail this fundamental right. It is worth reiterating that Gab’s operations are entirely based in the United States, and we have no presence, verification, establishment, or intention to hire personnel in New Zealand.

Addressing the specific content in question, we wish to clarify a significant point. Contrary to the allegations made in the recent letter, Gab does not actually host the content itself. Instead, we provide a hyperlink that serves as a reference to content hosted elsewhere on the Internet. This hyperlink, by design, could potentially lead to any content, contingent on the decisions made by the webhost on the other end.

It has come to our attention that New Zealand is attempting to achieve a particular outcome through indirect means. It appears that the content they seek to remove is self-hosted by a third party, leading to the attempt to erase any reference to it by demanding the removal of a hyperlink posted by a Gab user. This leads us to believe that the original author is non-responsive to their requests, leading to an attempt to exert control over our platform as an alternative avenue.

We want to assure you that we will not comply with this request to remove the link. We stand firm in our commitment to free speech and will not be coerced into suppressing content or stifling open discussion. Any attempt to pressure Gab, regardless of its source, will be met with the same unwavering stance.
In conclusion, we acknowledge that New Zealand has the right to voice its concerns and make decisions for its citizens. However, we believe that respecting the principles of free speech and the values that underpin open dialogue is of utmost importance. Whether New Zealand chooses to align itself with those who have attempted to undermine these values is a matter for them to decide.

Thank you for being a part of the Gab community. Your support is essential as we navigate these challenges and continue to champion the ideals of free expression and open discourse.

Sincerely,
Andrew Torba

Upholding Free Speech Amidst the EU’s DSA Law

Andrew Torba, August 25, 2023

Greetings Gab Community,
Today, I want to address a matter of utmost importance – the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA) law, its implications, and our stance as a platform committed to protecting free speech. The law goes into effect starting today and Gab will not be complying.

Recent developments have brought this law to the forefront, as it seeks to reshape the landscape of social media regulation within the EU. This legislation, while introduced with the intention of curbing content that is already illegal, brings with it certain provisions that infringe upon the very essence of open dialogue and free speech.

This is another government censorship scheme like all the rest. If the EU thinks they can get an armored division on the ground and into our offices in Pennsylvania they’re welcome to try. Until that day we’re an American company, with no presence outside of the United States, operating a constitutionally protected business and we will continue to extend freedom to the entire world, as is our God-given and unassailable constitutional right.

Gab has always been a platform that champions unrestricted discourse, standing as a bastion for free speech in an increasingly regulated digital world. We firmly believe that the foundation of any society rests upon the ability to share different ideas, even those that may be controversial or challenging.

The DSA’s intention to penalize platforms for failing to address what they label as “misinformation” and “hate speech” raises concerns. We understand the importance of combating illegal content, but this should not come at the cost of stifling differing viewpoints. The risk of suppressing legitimate conversations looms large, and we cannot support measures that could potentially compromise the principles of free speech.

Elon Musk and X, on the other hand, have chosen to comply with the DSA law, and we respect their decision. Every platform has its own philosophy and approach towards content moderation, and we believe in the diversity of choices available to users, but this is not a path Gab is willing to take.

The meeting between EU’s industry chief, Thierry Breton, and Elon Musk in Texas highlights the alignment of their perspectives on the DSA. However, we differ in our approach, as we believe in a more open, unrestricted conversation where the flow of ideas remains unimpeded.

In just the past few weeks alone Gab has faced challenges from multiple quarters. The government of New Zealand has threatened us with hefty fines for refusing to comply with their demands for censorship. Similarly, the Australian government reached out with its own demands for content removal. Despite these pressures, we remain resolute in our commitment to not only uphold free speech but to also resist foreign fines that aim to compromise these principles.
The DSA’s sweeping reach and its emphasis on controlling even legal content has raised eyebrows among the global anti-censorship and free speech community. We firmly believe that this act, coupled with upcoming regulations, poses a significant threat to the very fabric of open discourse.

At Gab, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing a platform where your voices can be heard, regardless of the tide of regulations. We are aware of the challenges that lie ahead, but we stand strong in our conviction to protect and preserve the fundamental right to free speech.

Thank you for your unwavering support.
Sincerely,
Andrew Torba
CEO, Gab
