Careercow Anthony Cumia - A once successful radio host crashes and burns, turning on all his fans and the drama around it

Every now and then Anthony tweets something about rap, I think given his hatred of Black people and of generally Black music (like jazz), his fondness for old rap is funny and strange. I always felt like he had really good chemistry with the rappers that went on O&A, like Flavor Flav, and the rap channel on Sirius (DJ Whoo Kid), it wasn't forced like with other boring celebrities

Cumia is en route to Austin for that shitty “comedy” show and claims Rogan finally started returning his texts. I don’t think we’ll see him on the show but who knows anymore. Rogan has lost his mind.

The only reason why the tour is kicking off in Austin is because Joe Rogan lives there. I can see Joe Rogan possibly attending, and maybe having Anthony on his show (this is way less likely) but any plug his show gets will die down once audiences realize its the same joke over and over. Jimmy's sex stories are way better than Anthony firing off impersonations (Joe Piscopo's impersonations are funnier)

do you have sources for any of this? I remember the tour in 2012, but tbh I am not a superfan that was hanging on his every word. I get the sense he did the tour in 2012 and then basically went back to normal, way before he got publicly shamed.

He was still doing it in 2016 so he was doing it for 4 years straight at least, bagging them the whole time. He'd basically done a mini press tour about how smaller acts (comics, bands, events, etc) could just do the same thing themselves and cut out Ticketmaster and fuck over scalpers. Some of the O&A comics started taking the same approach (or at least said they did on air). He did some of the shows he had to do through Ticketmaster (like Madison Square Garden and the like). This for obvious reasons made Ticketmaster look really bad - they were less secure, more expensive, and provided a worse experience. While they likely don't care about Louis CK's money, it would be a critical level disaster if a big name (like Kanye or Taylor Swift) start exploring not using Ticketmaster; or god forbid Sporting Venues realize that they can just do their own ticketing.

Not long after, Louis CK was publicly shamed over the most milquetoast accusations ever and went into hiding for ~3 years and when he came back started using Ticketmaster and now tickets were $100 or more +$20 convince fees and business is going on as usual. I'm not sure if there was an "inciting event" that made someone scramble and find the "cancel" button - but he wouldn't be worth the effort otherwise.

He also did the same thing with his comedy specials around the same time - recording, producing, editing, and distributing them by himself through his website instead of cutting in Netflix and/or Comedy Central at the time. Several other comics also did this at the same time.

EDIT - also to shit on Jim Norton one more time, fucking Alan Alda has more of a spine and did a better job defending Louis CK.

I found out what Anthony was doing these last couple of days, he was hanging out with Blacks getting high while he kept interrupting with impersonations.

Reactions: Hey Johnny Bravo
Imagine thinking its a ticketmaster conspiracy "hey let's allow some dumb fuck to create a way to circumvent our entire system, let him get rich off the idea for 5 years to the point where others start doing the same shit, when the ammo against him has been around for over 20 years, hell we'll even wait until he is the 2nd leading man in an oscar nominated film, just to fuck him"

What's more likely, a guy who admitted numerous times on O&A of doing this exact crime, did it. or ticketmaster allowed louis CK to get notoriously rich off of this for years and become an auteur before going after him. Even if you try that silly bullshit about #MeToo, that literally won't work because numerous websites were already discussing the allegations for years before it went public. the O&A subreddit would post them every time that fag tried to do some woke nonsense like Horace and Pete.

Beyond that, let's be more honest faggot. the MeToo shit didn't tank CK's career, it was the Parkland kids jokes that made him persona non grata for the greater public. And that had a way bigger chilling effect than his "invention" like nigger, radiohead and hundreds of other acts i could name were doing the same shit, for fucks sake other comedy clubs and venues were doing the same shit at the same time. fucking Just for Laughs in 2010 or 2011 had numerous comedy clubs that had their own in house way of doing tickets for huge acts, and then there's the obvious Project X style parties of the time where they'd have people pay through payment processors or even crypto just to get tickets. Like you'd go to a website to buy some "digital art" and with your receipt came a ticket to an illegal house party. Saying CK invented this method of ticketing is like saying CK invented jerking off in front of women or being an asshole.

@Tanner Glass You're out of your fucking mind and probably jerk off in front of your coworkers. You literally said its Ok to have sex at the workplace, which is completely different than having a relationship. I know numerous people that dated coworkers or married them, but even they said fuck no to the idea of fucking at the workplace, only you think its fine to fuck in the drive through lane.

speaking again about the chilling effect, if ticketmaster was so afraid they'd have started doing shit back when he first did the concept instead of allowing it to fester, the same way CK's comedy set being leaked immediately caused every fucking club to start putting in cell phone bans all over the place. Instead they didn't do shit, brownpapertickets and other websites were perfectly fine eating up the niche but ticketmaster is still where you're forced to go if you want to do venues like stadiums or amphitheaters, you really think they didn't realize someone else could come up with the concept of selling tickets? the first thing ticketmaster did was start buying up actual venues so any major act would be completely fucked. that was way back in the 2000s too,

They're perfectly fine if Louis CK wants to sell tickets on his own to his comedy show in the Ukraine warzone, they'll keep selling tickets in the largest venues on the planet.

Uhh, what? It was very clearly the #MeToo shit that got him in trouble. The Parkland shooting joke was after the #MeToo stuff and it was leaked for the express purpose of making it harder for him to get back into comedy because people were still mad about the jerking off. I understand hating Louis CK and I'm not defending him, his comedy, or his sexual proclivities, but I think this is a really stupid argument.

now's my time to sound like a retard, but he was genuinely coming back before that leaked. its going to sound silly but people were doing the same "you're still talking about that? who cares?" that people are now doing about the Epstein stuff.

His fanbase was genuinely big enough and just like in this thread enough people were calling it out for bullshit that the allegations weren't really sticking. Its very similar to Aziz Ansari and his allegations, like yeah it fucked up a lot of his shit, but he layed low for a couple years and kept out of trouble so he was able to come back without too much of a hassle. Sort of like Chris Hardwick and his MeToo where it was low level enough that public opinion eventually let it not be a big deal. Its near impossible to be exact about because the timeline is a bit messed up but people were ready for the CK comeback, even Joe Rogan was getting hyped for it. then the hour leaked.

But CK went from looking at just being gone for a year or two then going back to doing films and tv shows, to never being allowed back after the leaked set. Its why his Skanksfest appearance ended up happening. Without that leak, CK would have been part of entertainment again, instead he's gotten the Tar Treatment

That's not how I see or nor remember it. Many comedians weren't even sure if Louis should be allowed to come back. Many people openly commented that Louis should have waited longer. I think he was in a precarious position and the leaking of his set was a major "fuck you" to him. His fanbase did not care, that is true, but everyone else was like "what's going on here?" Aziz Ansari was different because, as much of an insufferable faggot as he is, he had the receipts of his so-called daterape. There was no way to really get Ansari because the texts were there.

Maybe other people will chime in, but I think you're dead wrong that his Parkland joke was the main source of his trouble. Even Rogan said the Parkland joke in the leaked set was funny.

He was specifically doing shows at non Ticketmaster venues and charging non ticketmaster prices and very speficially calling them out for taking huge cuts of performer's profits for doing virtually nothing in 2012. He was getting a lot of traction and making a lot of money doing it this way for a few years and even spent some time convincing his touring comic friends to do the same and convincing some mid-sized venues to drop their Ticketmaster exclusivity. Then for no reason at all several women had a change of heart on sexual encounters with him and he was cancelled in a day.

@Tanner Glass alludes to it in the last quote, but Louis CK pre-#MeToo was known for making a big push for trying to escape The Matrix and try to sell product directly to his fans via e-mail mailing lists and directly through his website.

I recall shelling out 30 bucks for access through his website to his dogshit experimental drama series Horace & Pete with big stars like Edie Falco, Steve Buscemi, Alan Alda (and a lesser known Kurt Metzger).

It might have been more digital media paywall sales rather than trying to subvert tickets to his live shows via the big boys like Ticketmaster.

But peak Louis CK thought he was important enough that he could sell to his fans directly.

For me, the biggest loss from the OG gooning allegations was the immediate dropping of his quirky FX show Louie as soon as things broke.

I suppose it's arguable whether FX is mainstream, but he did have a well-reviewed niche cable show that ran a few seasons, had star cameos, was artsy and experimental, was different than most of TV before & since.

Then like a Thanos snap, it was gone. And completely memory-holed. I haven't heard about it or seen a rerun since other than an occasional YT clip. Maybe it's on streaming services that I don't frequent. But the OG allegations pull the curtain down on his TV success overnight.

Louis Cuck King’s FX show ended in 2015. He decided it wasn’t smug or up its own ass enough, which resulted in Horace and Pete in 2016. His cancelation happened late 2017.

Also there’s little or no chance Ticketmaster was behind the conspiracy to kick him out. Not sure how much you all remember of #MeToo but only a few allegations were actually serious enough; the vast majority were things like actresses having sex with a man and deciding to withdraw consent 20 years later, using the casting couch when it benefited them and then deciding they didn’t like it when it no longer benefited them, or getting asked out on a date. However the attitude at the time during the early days of cancel culture was that if you got called out, you had to go away. Even he issued a press release wanting to go away. He didn’t fight it.

I think #MeToo was all bullshit and I’m glad it’s gone for the most part but there wasn’t a special case where things were particularly unfair for him. He helped till the soil for it and got caught up in it. In a parallel universe where he didn’t get canceled, he’d continue to be less and less funny and make wank and slop like Horace and Pete or wanky feminist documentaries not unlike Chris Rock’s Good Hair.

Can you guys start a Louis CK thread? This thread is supposed to be about a Tunisian knife fighter that fucks trannies, not a Mexican Jew who jerks off. Was his "patriotic comedy" show that shitty no one even has reviews trashing it?

The only positive reviews I could find is from Corey Adam (another "comedian") and some white nationalist who brought his Philippine wife to the event where Anthony was apparently signing books
