archive.today vs brave browser - Archive site redirects links to github issue

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
The bypass extension has been working for me and I can get past the captcha if I leave Brave's built in blocker turned off for the site.

What's even the point of using Brave other than the 5 cents you get from turning ads on

That's just fucking interesting, why did they have to use PM as a base though? (coming from a user of PM) that's fucking gay.

Isn't Pale Moon aimed at old hardware and OSes?

A Pale Moon offshoot, Arctic Fox, is also iirc the only currently updated browser that supports OS X 10.6.8 (i.e. last version of OS X that the earliest Intel Macs can run).
Damn that's interesting, I was actually thinking of switching to Brave due to how mentally draining it is to fix Moonchild's bullshit, lmao. I don't really understand all these PM forks and the like, they're more prone to breaking than anything else you can fork in the browser world due to it's old as fuck codebase.

Yep, specifically Windows XP and Windows Vista.
kinda but not really. pale moon and other uxp based programs generally follow old school mozilla design standards and philosophies and shit but that doesn't mean they actually support legacy hardware - pm in particular needs at least windows 7 to run and a cpu with sse2 support, and while i doubt he will, i really fucking hope moonchild doesn't suddenly ax win7 support soon

of course there are third party pale moon builds such as new moon, mypal and arctic fox from roytam1, feodor2, wicknix and likely some other contributors i don't fucking know - these are specifically intended for older oses like winxp and win2k and ppc shit and while i haven't used them extensively, new moon runs just fine from my experience, at least in the few vms i've tried running it on over the last few years

i will note that tobin deliberately blocked these forks from accessing the official pale moon addons page on xp for some wackass reason, although it looks like it's fine for now in mypal, at least. usually i can at least comprehend or support some of his spicier crusades but this is petty as fuck even for him

That GitHub issue page is great as are the Pale Moon forum topics

Pale Moon developers are being paid to destroy Windows XP!

The drama around this MSFN.org forum is interesting too. Apparently this is some kind of forum for Windows XP diehards, and they banned Matt Tobin from Pale Moon for starting drama around whether they had to release full source of their XP Pale Moon fork or just a patchset, so he retailiated by blocking all XP users from the Pale Moon addons site.

msfn isn't exclusively xp-centric, it's more of a general windows support forum (although it's definitely one of the last safe havens for xp, 2k and 9x users)

and to be more precise, tobin was banned from msfn, not the pm forums - tobin's always been one of, if not the most visible pale moon contributors

have some more lulzy tobin github drama:

I didn't realize Palemoon was meant for XP, now I'm actually interested in it for a retrobuild.

I'm glad this thread warned me about Opera before I started using it heavily. I had just downloaded it a couple months ago. I do really like some of the features it has that made me download it, like pop-out video and the bookmark sidebar. Would anyone happen to know about options for browsers that are like Opera without the AIDS?

You know how little money per day/hour that works out to right?
.50 cents a day to shitpost is like a 1 billion percent increase over the normal $0.00/hr I am paid to shitpost.

Looks like the cunt broke it again. At least the extension.
Yep. Page loads, kicks me straight to captcha and when I click that, it dumps me to the unsupported browser. I wonder if he's now getting the browser info from cloudflare instead of his own site?

@Null are you still working on an alternative? I see the notification about it is gone.

It would be pretty monstrously resource hungry. Unless it was solely for KF.
