Avowed has looked disappointingly generic since its announcement, but all the rage junkies filing into this thread to announce that Obsidian Has Never Made Good Games, Actually just because some fag posted some dumb shit on twitter is exhausting. if the game is bad, then it's going to be bad regardless of whatever Posting Antics this or that dipshit on the dev team gets up to. if the game is good, then it's going to be good despite whatever soy wokeshit people are babbling about on the sidelines. these things are mutually exclusive. if the game leans on socjus screeching to motivate its characters, it's because it doesn't otherwise have any substance of note. if it has substance to its story and characters, it doesn't have room to lean on socjus screeching. all of Obsidian's games have strong redeeming qualities despite being varying degrees of clunky and busted, and if this one is the exception, I'm going to assume it has more to do with the Microsoft acquisition and subsequent change in company culture. in the meantime, y'all need something to do besides work yourselves into a froth over the latest retard post on twxtter. get a constructive hobby, jesus.

I never paid much attention to any progressive elements in games unless they were glaring and hitting you over the head with a hammer. I liked PoE1 for it's atmosphere especially in act one. It felt to me like Europe after, or in the end of the 30 years war with elves, mages and all the other fantasy stuff. I liked PoE 2 for it's the beginning of the golden age of pirates in 1640 vibe. In PoE 1 i was somewhat interested in the main quest, in 2 the word for my feelings about it was meh. The thing that disliked in both games but especially PoE1 was that dialogue from a quest giver for a quest for killing some random bandit had more text than The Bible and The Lord of The Rings combined. But Avowed looks too generic by the book fantasy "brought to you by disney/wb/slop4u company". And i my impression is that they forgot the key element to pillars as a whole which is the soul stuff. I got the impression that all was left in the dustbin, i maybe wrong, but my view is that they went more generic broader appeal road down here.

The way I see it isn't so much that some fag posted dumb shit on twitter, it's that Obsidian hasn't said a word about it. I don't care if it's from back in 2020 and was right after George Floyd's fentanyl overdose, it's straight up illegal to openly bar people from employment based on race even in the US and the retard absolutely had the power to do just that. Any reasonable company that doesn't hate me would immediately fire him and issue an apology so I can only conclude that the people who made this game actively despise me. They obviously want me unemployed and I would assume they would prefer that I not exist at all.

Here's what it is. The creative art director actively said he was adding political elements into the game with the express purpose of upsetting people like Musk. That isn't just some faggot. That's the guy who oversees the entire aesthetic direction of the game and, surprise surprise, Avowed looks like neon purple homosexual fantasy slop where the women all have manfaces, there isn't a single white person to be seen in any of the gameplay footage or trailers, none of the women have breasts, etc;

This same director said that he actively wants to replace white men in the industry with niggers. JSawyer, head of Obsidian, tacitly endorsed this line by liking his posts.

So we have a guy who actively hates white people, wants to see them replaced, and who has admitted outwardly to making his games unappealing, saying as much.

This is how I've been thinking about it and if anyone cares to look at the first couple of pages of the thread, they'll find that people weren't exactly blown away by gameplay. All of my criticism so far has been aimed directly at gameplay, systems, and design. This is my problem with the horde of grift tubers that have sprung up in the last year or two - rarely do they discuss botched systems but instead choose to focus gay drama. Gay drama is fun but it's not helpful when it comes to discussing the game itself. It would be a nice change of pace for a AAA trainwreck happening due to the game itself being a piece of shit rather than culture war nonsense.

I'm actually gonna go to bat for this game. I picked it up on sale almost a year ago and while I haven't put that much time into it (less than 8 hours), I think it's the best Dark Messiah type game out there. It's definitely not Dark Messiah 2.0 with all the same features but it is the closest thing to come out be in early access these last few years that's similar enough in my opinion at least. It is on sale right now, though I'd bet money that it'll be on a better sale either during the Christmas sale or the lunar new year slant sale. Just remember that it's in early access and is rough around the edges.

It looks extremely cool. I'm hoping at some point they add an option for third person or something tbh. IDK why, but in my older age I just prefer it.
