Under normal circumstances I'd agree with you, but this is someone who truly obsessively spent every free hour of his day eating, sleeping and breathing this game. I'm solidly certain this is probably what he would've wanted.

Also, here's a thread of the eulogies given at his funeral. Reddit is absolutely fuming that Technicals was allowed to give a speech, speaking for what they believed to be Hax's will while conspicuously not mentioning why he's even fucknig dead in the first place:

Funnily, they were actually passing around the idea of combing his hard drive for his Slippi replay data and using it to train a bot to play like him, which would be pretty sick to bump into on unranked, and I think it might have gotten his blessing while alive.

This whole thing is fucking depressing. I think people are stumbling over the fact that this dude's life and death were equally depressing and horrifying from a normal person perspective, and taking that to mean that this was a necessary outcome due to Hax being the way he was. Sure, it wouldn't have been this easy for tranny jannies to mentally torture someone to death who wasn't a total sperg, but that doesn't mean they didn't do exactly that. The fact that we now have livestream footage of this nigga's corpse (which, though objectively horrifying, was kinda necessary to quell the conspiracy theories) is a direct result of their actions. He didn't die because of online bullying, he died because he had everything that mattered to him stripped away from him, while being repeatedly lied to that he could have it all back under unspecified conditions that he constantly failed to meet.

All of the above is really difficult for people with actual lives to come to grips with. It didn't have to end like this, but if it were to, this is how he would have wanted it. As bad as it is, that's the truth. And I'm fucking depressed by all of it.

I think a lot of lolcow parents tend to be the type who try to encourage their kids to be normal, so no one expected mama Hax to be the type of parent who understood exactly who her son was, and loved him for who he was (for better or for worse). She clearly was very involved in his life and interests, and she apparently supported and encouraged the latter. Now that he's gone, in her worst moments of grief and loss, she so resembles her son during his worst moments that people actually thought she was him. I will not be taking parenting tips from her anytime soon, but there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that she loved the hell out of that kid.

For anyone who needed proof, Technicals posted Discord conversations with Hax where he tells him that he has to publicly disavow him. As if anyone with half a brain couldn't tell that the multiple episodes of groveling weren't to cater to TOs and other sickos in the Smash clique (where it still wasn't enough).

I'll admit, I'm not terribly informed why they all hate Technicals (cause he's black?) but I don't really care to find out. Nicholas DeOrio in particular is just a disgusting human being in general and sounds like a huge faggot all the time. Objectively, he's a terrible judge of character since he was publicly supporting Karl Jobst over Billy "the King of Kong" Mitchell despite having a direct line to Keemstar who told Jobst he was a fucking retard. So he's either too stupid to do even a shallow investigation of anything, or he knew and still supported him.

I'm going to provide the context, but I also spoilered it because you mentioned you don't care to find out:

Their problem with Technicals, fundamentally, is that they're a bunch of children that hate people by tribalistic association, rather than merely considering what a person actually has to say. Technicals has, at many points, credibly attacked significant figures in the community, as well as credibly defended other significant figures that the community has deemed persona non grata and tried to destroy.

It doesn't matter to them that what he's saying is provably true and logically the better answer to the situation - they made their judgments of these people beforehand, and so rather than allowing him the chance to vindicate them, they decide before hearing what he has to say that because he's associating with these people, that he must be a bad person.

It's a philosophy that exists to insulate and be as inflexible and unchangeable as possible, due to the way that it conveniently locks all counterpoint behind a convenient shield of morality. Simultaneously, it shuts out the ability for change to come from within, since anyone among them who dares advocate for the opposite viewpoint is lumped in with the opposition and similarly vilified.

This is also why no significant voices in the community dared speak up for Hax$ before he died, because even though many of them were on his side, they were all terrified to be ejected from the community in the same way, because speaking for him would make them guilty of all of his crimes by proxy in their eyes.

This is especially prescient because the way they treated Hax is exactly the same way that Smashers, new-age fighting game communities, and speedrunners treat women in their spaces. They shove out every women that was there, co-opt their spaces. and if any single one dares vocalize that perhaps cis women could now use their own space, they're labelled TERF and mentally unwell and completely iced out of the community.

I don't have the knowledge and perspective to really evaluate how representative is what he's saying, but the analysis comes across as shallow and legalistic. It starts from one valuable insight into Hax's character and outlook, and then sort of uses that to paper over everything else. Hax had medically confirmed diagnoses and violated specific rules, so don't look at any of the TO responses, nothing to see there. And I don't even know the point of the section about his relationships with other people who worked on the boxx other than to continue to paint him as crazy; way more detail would be required to actually characterize his business decisions, especially when there are actual legal cases involved.

I'm willing to believe Leffen is basically innocent and Hax just gets narcissistically injured by differing opinions, and maybe he was just so crazy everyone eventually realized he wasn't worth dealing with; but in that case just don't deal with him, you don't need to give him ultimata and play psychiatrist, which is what it seems the TOs were doing. The truth is the entire FGC runs on toxic, mentally ill degenerates, but wanting to chop your dick off grants a lot of leeway. I don't know this guy, but I suspect he is perfectly fine with the status quo, maybe he's even got an "official" position within or benefits from it in some way, but in any case there's room for a narrative beyond "Hax was crazy and was rightfully banned" even if that's true, and other people whose actions you could at least mildly criticize for the benefit of the community, but he seems to want to gloss over all of that.

So, he's not actually talking to Hax$ here, but another Swedish smasher MikeHagger; while the content of this post seems to clearly contradict a thesis from the blog post that Leffen did not throw out insults of character like the one Hax was complaining about, the possible saving grace is if he specifically did not insult Hax himself in that way. However, at this point it feels inevitable that I will see a smashboards post directed at Hax that proves the Tanner guy is full of shit, it's suspicious in the first place that he bothers to quote a single Leffen post directed at Hax and then tries to get out ahead of cherrypicking accusations; like, if you're smart enough to know that's an issue, you know your single post proves nothing and is pointless anyway.

Anyway, I noticed something else about the quoted Leffen post, in the context of it being directed at someone other than Hax: it establishes an MO of crybullying people he argues with by impugning their mental health and claiming they are obsessed with him. Or maybe he's just unlucky, and mentally ill schizos just obsess over him for no reason? Either way, I think that blog post is biased, twink-guarding garbage written by a sociopath who's pretending to be reasonable and even handed. And not that Hax didn't have some issues, but as I wrote before, even if you maximally accept this guy's views on the situation (which I'm getting further and further from doing), he does nothing to demonstrate that we shouldn't be concerned about the issues the whole situation has raised about others like the TOs.
