BattleBots - IT'S ROBOT FIGHTING TIME (probably spoilers)

The thing's battery was already 41% dead when it started fighting.
:story:
I know people in youtube comments have started calling Rusty's jackhammer "The Dilator" and every time someone refers to it as such there are tons of comments from both people who find it funny and angry troons. It's great!

Eps 3 and 4 were enjoyable, but par for the course. Good to see Witch Doctor not fall to the curse it did last season. They actually did a livestream for their youtube channel about the fight with Duck! too.

Not surprised Mammoth lost to Tombstone, but the double KO caught me by surprise.

How are we on the tranny flag counter by the way? Is it still at just 1?

Oh shit, have you guys actually been talking about Battlebots? My notifications never said anyone posted in this thread so I assumed my revival efforts were in vain.

Oh well, lets all shock to the extreme!

Fought the tranny bot in the bounty hunter tournament, fight was unaired but it did win.

It was such an awful fight it became the only BH fight to not be aired in full. Both bots started with their weapons broken but then after a minute Hypershock magically fixed itself and gave Sporkinok it's forth consecutive KO loss. The teams are friends (and some of them have migrated to either Hypershock or Witch Doctor this year, I forget which,) maybe HS was just being sporting.

Anyways, for those who haven't been checking Discord for the past twelve hours, a massive leak occurred thanks to Discovery posting photos with descriptive file names too early and now we know a few upcoming fights, including some in the bracket. I'll be kind and not post any of them here, you can PM me if you want the fun spoiled.

OMG, you don't even know the real story...

Originally after the hit Mammoth could still slowly shuffle around in the direction it wanted to with its partially connected wheel but the ref counted them out anyway. Tombstone wasn't moving at all during this. Ricky Willems, the Mammoth team captain kept asking if they were both being counted out because Tombstone didn't move either and the refs eventually decided to have Ray Billings confirm that Tombstone could move. Except it couldn't because the floor scraping nut they have under the weapon was the exact size of the killsaw slot and it was stuck fast. For the benefit of TV they then filmed a simultaneous count out where it looked like both robots stopped working at the same time. Then the judges gave Tombstone a win for a fight it actually lost. Fucking bullshit. There were some pretty pissed off builders after this.

I actually was disappointed the win went to Tombstone but not at all surprised they edited it to make it look like the judges gave the win to them based on aggro. Poor Mammoth. Can't blame other builders for being mad tbqh.

I'm not surprised. The producers will sometimes do such things for ratings and the builders really don't like it. Last time they screwed up like this was Duck in the last chance rumble in season 3. Bombshell got that in even though it spent the match mostly dead.

Reddit comment:
"Well all it shows really are matchups, but the notable thing is one of the bots shown we see in 3 different matchups, aaaand they already had one fight night, so at LEAST one tournament match has been revealed. I'm not going to name what bot it was to not spoil they ended up making the tournament."
Pretty big spoiler. I'm fine with not knowing.

That Reddit quote was pretty early on. About ten minutes later people figured out that the image names include the match-up they are about as well as the episode they are taken from (so one that "just shows Martin Mason" actually shows Mad Catter vs ________ in episode __. This shows us that certain fights took place in the rounds of 32 and 16 while others were fight night fights.)

Mystrsyko began using that flag when Sporkinrok debuted in Battlebots.
Mystrsyko is a fool and really excited to wear women's clothing on stream. The robot fighting commentary deserves better but unfortunately all we have is him and Drop Zone (and TCC if you want to get really low effort/quality.)

Can't seem to find it but I did find a pic of him showing his love for the troon bot by wearing one of the most boring t-shirts ever.
Ah, Will. Why would you do this?

S06E05 chart is up:
mj2bhqs4mgf81.jpg

Got two spinners in Gigabyte and the Cap, Hyrda and Gruff should be interesting and main even is End Game and Witch Doctor.

I used to like this guy, but this has become unbearable at this point. Can we start an over/under on the timeframe before he troons out at this point?

EDIT: Thank you @Coelacanth for pointing out my broken link, also here's a bonus: Syko is aware of KF, wouldn't be overly surprised if he read the thread and decided to do this to try and "get back at the trolls".

@Auntie Fester Your pic and link are broken my guy. Imgur won't show up here. Try copying and pasting it in a post instead.

EDIT: NP, fren! Happy to help!

Syko's aware of the Farms? That's interesting - even more so if he or his followers are lurking threads like this one.

And yeah I can see this guy trooning out for sure if he really did buy and wear clothes Team Hypershock made for women. He's added the new lesbian flag on the right too - probably as a way of increasing his virtue signalling points. What LGBTAOMGWTFBBQ+ flag do you guys think he'll add to his setup next?

Second time Uppercut made a bot fucking explode.
And that right there is why the limits on fuel storage for flame weapons inside the box exists. It's not just the giant fireball, it's the pressure wave from the explosion rattling the entire box. An explosion like that in an enclosed space is no joke.

This week on Battlebots Raw, S06E05:

Free Shipping vs Uppercut
Free Shipping lost it's first match while Uppercut won it's first. Let's see what happens.
A few engagements in the center then Uppercut hits Shipping on the side, exploding the tank on the right side of the bot. You can see that yellow wire sticking out as well as the crumpled front right where the tank was.

2 hits later, those front wedges go and it's missing it's front right wheel. Flips itself out and is counted out. Uppercut 2 - 0 and Free Shipping 0 - 2. Not a good start for them this season.

Blacksmith vs Shatter
Blacksmith is doing well this season, it's redesign is thanks to that I think. Shatter is 1 - 0 after winning a judges decision against Sub Zero in an unaired fight.
Shatter goes at blacksmith. The forks at the front keep Blacksmith back, allowing it to smack it's weapon belt and cut it. After losing it's weapon, Blacksmith pushes Shatter around while the other bot continues to make hits. Blacksmith is tough though and Shatters weapon doesn't seem to be able to penetrate the armor.
Shatter get the win, going 2 - 0. Blacksmith are 1 - 1 but with the new configuration might pick up another win to push them into round of 32.

Jaeger vs P1
P1 is 1 - 0 after it's win against Valkyrie. Jaeger is like Gemeni from seasons pass, in that it's 2 125 pound bots. These generally don't work out as like your girlfriend says, size does matter. A 250 pound bot has a bigger speed to weight ratio than one that's only 125. Small bots tend to get bullied in the box.
P1 blast off from pit position straight into a mini bot, who gets under him and centers him off the ground, giving Jaeger free time to go to town on the bot. He got free and tripped up the multi bots, giving P1 an easy win.
Almost, at the 1 count, one of them comes free. Starts smoking, flipped back around and counted out then. P1 is now 2 - 0.

Hydra vs Gruff
Hydra is 0 - 1 and Gruff is 1 - 0 with a relatively easy win.
Hydra goes in early, a few flips to Gruff and it starts leaking fire. A few more flips and Hydra flips him out of the box.
Hydra now 1 -1 and Gruff 1 - 1. Both still in this season. Not much else to say for this fight.

Gigabyte vs Captain Shrederator
The cap is back, 1 - 0 after surviving Tombstone. Gigabyte is 0 - 1 after losing to Uppercut. Who will be King of Spin?
Early hits go the Caps way, spinning against Gigabtye's rotation. And that one hit knocked out the Cap. You can see Brian's reaction to having control issues with his bot, again.
3.png

They're still 1 - 1 like Gigabyte this season. Hopefully they fix that.

Dragon Slayer vs Duck!
Rookie team being mentored, it's a vert spinner with a bigger than average weapon. It's also wider than other vert spinners. We'll see how that goes. Duck is 0 - 1, we'll see if they do good.
First shot cuts Duck's beak in half. They shove each other for 3 minutes sending it to the judges. Slayer wins because again, it has a weapon. Duck doesn't.

Endgame vs Witch Doctor
Defending champ going up against someone who would be champ. End Game are already 1 - 0 over Hydra and now Witch Doctor face their first serious opponent, also 1 - 0.
Witch Doctor starts to go at the sides, End Game manages to fend them off. End Game charges and Witch Doctor has problems with it's left side with the wheel coming off. One weapon on weapon smack sends Witch Doctor flying back. Massive hit.

With it's weapon disabled and End Game still going, they go aggressive. And when flipped over, can't self right. Win goes to End Game.
They're 2 - 0 looking really good for another Nut and Witch Doctor is 1 - 1, looking like they might not do so good this year.

That's it for this week, stay tuned for more robot combat.

That explosion was insane. I wonder if the show producers ever feel the need to beef up the fight arena even more when you have stuff like this happening? I remember when tombstone hit a bot so hard it blew a chunk of metal off of it that penetrated the arena's Lexan cage. I doubt anything could actually break through the glass, but it's still crazy how hard these things can hit.

They have rules about not activating flamethrowers near the edge of the box. Not that it matters when your opponent is seemingly purposely wired to explode with it's flamethrower's feeder being an exposed tube.

Also, in order to mitigate risk from burning/malfunctioning bots they took away the "toaster slots", which were the places where bots would be OOTAed by being pinned between the battle box and the protective lexan wall.
