God, this isn't funny. It's just sad.

I disagree that Chris doesn't realise his behaviour is abhorent. While there are definitely things he does that he's oblivious to the consequences of, he constantly shows that he knows a lot of his bullshit is unacceptable.
That's why he'll rant about gay men and then apologise in the next breath; he knows the behaviour is unacceptable but he will not modify his behaviour, he'll just do it and apologise. He thinks an apology makes it like the offense never happened, as evidenced by him not understanding why he got the tresspass notice after his apology, and his going into the FSM as soon as he'd sent the apology letter.
It was interesting to hear what episodes of Seinfeld Chris likes best.
Yeah, that seems most likely. I also seem to recall she was trying to placate her mother, who nudged her into joining the Young Adult Social Group (even though Chris was almost 28 years old by then). If whoever admitted Chris to the program (Rocky?), knew about what a social deviant Chris was (Rocky even knew a little bit of his sexual deviancy), I sincerely hope they were pulled from running the program... They may have dodged a lawsuit by the skin of their teeth.I can't argue with the truth in that. But based on reading and watching Chris interactions with other potential friends, I think that the Wallflower's willingness to befriend him can be chalked up to either oddity, loneliness, or generosity on her part.
He is aware but for most of his life people let him get away with outbursts because he was the special little kid who didn't really know what he was saying.he's dimly aware when he's being socially inappropriate
You're projecting quite hard there, friend. If you want to see the vicious opinions that minimum wage workers have about Chris, there are no doubt plenty of examples on this board.![]()
An education from the ground-up, if one will. These emails are a buffet of truths that, for his own good, Chris needs ground into his consciousness.
Chris is capable of making friends, he proved this with the Wallflower:
I have to agree and the most striking evidence that this statement is true is the fact that Chris has never wanted to associate with anyone who isn't a possible sweetheart for him. In fact, unless you're possible scissor-fodder, Chris usually will think of you as a deeply flawed and depraved person simply because you can't offer him sex. When it became obvious that Megan never interested in him at all, Chris decided she was "evil" and deserved to be beaten up. When The Wallflower broke off contact with Chris because he jumped to the conclusion they were a couple Chris actually expected her to apologize to him...because she wouldn't have sex with him. And MALES cannot offer Chris sex because Chris is STRAIGHT or a Lesbian soul or whatever his latest fetish is so therefore Chris sees no reason to even entertain the idea that he could be friends with a male.
TL;DR You're not a person to Chris unless you're attractive and have a china.
One anomaly that sort of makes me wonder about Chris' ability to filter his stupidity, was Chris' Big Nights Out. Yes, he was awkward in all the videos, but he was otherwise well behaved in the few minutes we got to witness. It also took him a few years to get kicked out of Grace Baptist Church, which has a reputation of not taking a lot of baloney. Stuff like that suggests that he can act like a domesticated animal for short durations, which furthermore might suggests that maybe he chooses to be an ass the rest of the time. The constant apology - whether or not it's genuine - at least suggests he's dimly aware when he's being socially inappropriate.
Admittedly, I'm just theorizing, though... Hopefully - for his sake - he can stop being a punk, if he winds up incarcerated.
So I guess overall I would say that maybe Chris COULD be less offensive. But only in the way he could get a job, could lose 40 pounds, could stop playing with legos, or could move to Wyoming. There is nothing actually preventing him, but it would be a huge change and he really doesn't want to make it.
At some point before sending the message, either before, during, or after writing something offensive, [Chris] realized it was offensive. But he didn't edit the message, he just tacked on an apology.
Chris said:I kinda messed up on that one. But oh well, we'll work with it.
...
I could've done a little better on this, but we're pressed for time.
As for the apologies: The fact that the apologies come in the same message as the offense in some of these emails is pretty revealing. At some point before sending the message, either before, during, or after writing something offensive, he realized it was offensive. But he didn't edit the message, he just tacked on an apology. It is like a parody of the "it's easier to apologize than ask permission" attitude. To me it shows that he really, really, doesn't want to filter himself.
This behavior has always fascinated me.
If this only happened in writing, then we could attribute Chris' behavior to him being an asshole, or not wanting to filter himself, or not being able to concentrate due to his mind going black, or his belief that he's always perfect.
But it's got to be something deeper than that. To fail to retract something that could easily not have been sent in the first place is consistent with how he approaches everything else in life: "Fuck it; this is good enough. Let's keep going."
You can see this in action in the "CWC - Hand Drawn Original" video. He's trying to demonstrate to Kacey that he's the "real" CWC by showing how he draws Sonichu. If ever there were a time when he'd do his best possible work, this would be it. But no.
He grabs a pen-- not a pencil!-- and goes to town on his first (and only) take. He acknowledges that he's screwing it up, but it he never makes that crucial leap to understand that perhaps he should be doing it differently:
It's tempting to just say that Chris is lazy. Sure, he is lazy, and he does have an aversion to doing work, but that still doesn't add up.
When there's china on the line-- and he certainly seemed to think there was in this case-- Chris has proven himself capable of previously-impossible tasks like scrubbing a tile in his shower or driving all the way up to Cleveland. If he can do that, why can't he get it together and hit the "backspace" key when he types something stupid or make a new drawing when he fucks one up?
No matter how lazy he is, Chris should still care how is work is perceived. Is it possible that he doesn't know his work is terrible (in the same way that he doesn't know that he can't sing)?
This guy never ceases to amaze.
3. The simplest explanation is that he has no shame. It's not that he doesn't want people to like him, it's just that he doesn't seem to have a great sense that things he says or does affect people's opinion of him. He assumes that trolls and other people he doesn't like hate him for no reason. So why should he filter his own words or actions? He doesn't care if it bothers or offends you, and he assumes it doesn't affect what you think of him.
He can't legally say Snyder's name? That's new.
& A+ on the Soap recommendation![]()
I think there's a passive-aggressive streak to the rant-apology thing. He simply has to rant, but he knows people don't like it - how many times has he been pulled up on the homophobia thing? But rather than not express those opinions, he does so and then apologises, because otherwise how will people know how much he suffers? He can have his cake and eat it by expressing his displeasure with the world, and then he can show what a stand-up guy he is by apologising. As for the apologies: The fact that the apologies come in the same message as the offense in some of these emails is pretty revealing. To this day I don't think he believes he did anything wrong that day (or at least has convinced himself that that's the case), so he's playing it safe.Chris mentioned this last year when he decided to attack Megan for Sailor Moon dvds since she was in league with The Jew and caused all his future pains and sufferings. From what I've gathered, he thinks that his lawyer saying "shut your mouth" and the court saying "Do not slander this business owner" is like a never ending universal ban on saying the name Snyder.
