I haven't reviewed all this too deep yet, but here's a rough review.
On June 26th youtuber Podcast Cringe put up a video which he tells how he had received a package to his house which contained documents related to a court case which involved Brendan as the defendant. Podcast Cringe didn't go into too much detail as he wanted to verify everything first.
On June 27th someone on reddit posted a
link to a legal website which outlined the new suit that had been lodged.
Yesterday Podcast Cringe posted an update with some more details about what the case involved and the accusations. Thank you
@Capt. Jean Luc Ritard
June 28th Podcast Cringe drops the details about the court case in a video. Rough summary.
1. Brendan was hired as a spokesman by a CBD company called Pure Spectrum ( the irony of Brendan working for a company called Pure Spectrum). He was there to promote the company, do ads on his podcast, go to events and be a brand ambassador. As part of this deal Brendan gets 10% of the company from the owner Brady Bell and is now a part owner of the business.
2. It's then alleged that Brendan failed to meet his promotional obligations which included missing 88 static posts (I'm guessing social media) and other things he was required to do but never did. Despite this, Brendan has received $370, 000.00 from from Pure Spectrum before breaching his contractual obligations.
3. It's also alleged 2019-2020 that Brendan used the Pure Spectrum customer database list to mass email customers to try and promote his unrelated failed comedy special
I Think You'd Be Surprised to help boost its bad ratings. Here's a screenshot someone clipped on reddit of one of these emails which asks customers to give "the kind of review of review Brendan deserves" and in return they'll get 50% off a Pure Spectrum order. People noticed this years back when it happened but assumed it was the company doing it in conjunction with Brendan and not Brendan doing this all himself.
4. IMDB and Showtime (who funded Brendan's special) threatened Brendan with legal action when they found out about him using improper promotional methods. Brendan denied any knowledge of the promotional campaign and Pure Spectrum got the blame for it.
5. In 2020 - 2021 after Brendan failing to do the promotion he'd agreed to and misusing the company customer lists, Brendan agrees to step down from the company after already earning nearly 400k from the company. Part of this is deal requires Brendan's 10% in the company is dissolved back to the owner and Brendan signs a non compete clause to not promote other CBD companies for 12 months.
6. Two months later Brendan starts promoting another CBD company Direct Hemp who is owned by a guy named Daniel Blake Huerter and breaks the non compete clause he'd signed. Brady Bell allegedly sent cease and desists which Brendan ignored.
7. People within Pure Spectrum want to do a hostile takeover of the company and push owner Brady Bell out and need Brendan's help. They get Brendan to lie and say he still owns his 10% share in Pure Spectrum and forge documents to do this. Brendan is give 100k for doing this and Brendan's false shares in the company is used to help vote Brady Bell out.
8. After this, Brendan allegedly kept doing sketchy business dealings within the company which included lodging false tax returns, using a fake k-1 form to make it look like he still owned his 10% share in the company and was involved in a conspiracy to defraud the IRS.
9. Brendan allegedly resold the 10% in Pure Spectrum which didn't own as it had already been dissolved and he no longer owned it.
