Probably because none of the cartoons are made for them. Disney has admitted that they've completely ignored the Gen Z and Alpha audience and let creators make animated therapy sessions. I'm a zoomer (and before you say I'm too young for this site, keep in mind some of Gen Z is nearly 30), and the only cartoons I remember fondly are Avatar, pre-movie SpongeBob, and reruns of 90s cartoons. Most zoomers and Gen Alpha kids are watching anime because even the most generic isekai is more appealing than the therapy sessions starring non-binary mixed-race children that populate western animation.

Interest in animation isn't completely dead. When the rare, actually good movie occasionally slips through, people come to support it. The Last Wish and K-pop Demon Hunters saw success because the teams behind them made something that appeals to kids. Cartoonists in the industry scoffed at the statement that Disney has failed to appeal to Gen Z, only to turn around and complain that things like the Owl House are taken off the air because the target audience wasn't watching.

Learn filmmaking before you come to market as a filmmaker? Clearly a problematic concept from a far less enlightened time.

Frankly I suspect that the bottom needs to fall out, and things need to get such that no American can make a comfortable living in an upscale city on animators wages. Flush out these dilettantes. Make it such that the only people working in the industry are “the maniacs who’d throw their lives away for anime,” to roughly misquote Animeta from memory. These soft little whiners have nothing of value to add to anyone’s culture. The sooner they go back to jumping show ponies or arranging bouquets, the better off we’ll all be.

Mid is honestly good enough for most movies. Great is great of course but we aren't always up for great cinematic experiences. Most of the time something fun and breezy to will do just fine, even be more what you are looking for. Movies, tv, books, comics and video games are something we do to relax and recharge. Having something highly engaging and thoughtful can be too much.

We need great entertainment of course, classics having staying power for a reason, but don't nock off basic competent entertainment. It has it's place too. Our problem is that current entertainment is more shit than mid rather than missing the greats.

Because action fits better with their shot attention span lmao. Slice-of-life is "too slow" for those types, though if they're exposed to more and more anime, they may still come across SOL-lite episodes in shounen (they're out there) that may help them dip their toes into SOL shows.

Also yes, TikTok slop can get a Zoom-Zoom looking into older anime, it's likely the reason Ranma ½ got a resurgence. Though honestly, having smaller fanbases for SOL anime may be for the best in the long-run.
