i remember in that last kacey call he had after the kacey/liquid call when he mentioned that his parents couldn't afford sending him to a 4-year school. she pointed out to him that he could've got financial aid that bob and barb wouldn't have had to take care of, either he would've paid off his student loans or his disability would've.

somehow i think his parents probably knew that but barb must've decided that she'd rather have him be a part of his hoard than actually doing something with his life, and bob probably had no choice but to comply with that. so here we are.

this is what he made suing his degree. PVCC just passed him to get him out of there.

Well, Bob did think a little about jobs for Chris. (telling him to switch majors etc) The PVCC/Wendy's era presumably crushed those hopes once and for all, leading to the tugboat.

EDIT: I'd put up CWCville Mall as a better example of his college work, but it was still worthy of Grade-F Destruction.

Is there a such thing as being "Home-schooled" for adults without the internet?

So you could then do college tests and whatnot? Probably. But Chris won't be able to do it on his own and Barb is, well, Barb.

^There are CLEP exams you can take for certain classes for the first two years of college work. If someone self-studies or gets a tutor they can then take the test and if they pass they can buy the credits they need for lower-level classes. I don't know all the rules, though.

I'm surprised he was able to handle the STRESS of college academic work.

Do we know how he paid for his college? I'm assuming Bob paid for it, because he certainly didn't work his way through school and I don't know if they took out any loans. If they did take out loans that was the worst investment they ever made.

THANK GOD I TOOK COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING AND DESIGN (CADD) CLASSES TO MAKE THESE ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS.

Coupled with that picture, that sounds so sarcastic. But I know it isn't. :|

It took him six years to get his CADD though. And from what I read from the CWCki, his parents didn't care but to just keep pushing him through college until he graduates with a degree and that's it just to make him happy. Sure college academic work may be stressful for him but then again one should consider how often he retook classes or how many classes he took a semester along with his parents' attempted influence on the school. There was a mentioning where Chris not only tried to get his dad to sue PVCC for discrimination against autistic people but also write a letter to then President Bush to get him back in PVCC. Too bad no one bothered him about internships or anything of the like while he was in college because that could've helped him get his career but life was probably too STRESSFUL for him. Also if his life in college was stressful, then he should consider the fact that I'm a full time student, an intern helping autistic children, and I have a part time job. That's a lot and I can handle them just fine.

I think maybe Bob wanted him to just get through a degree to put it on his resume, and then he could get a job in a mail room or something. Obviously that went down the tubes.

if that's the case, i don't think he even needed a college degree for that. i worked in a mailroom for years before becoming the beeper king. sure i had a college degree, but many of my co-workers back there didn't even finish high school but they did just fine sorting mail.

IS there a copy of his mayor's office design that he got the F on and cried about and produced many :briefs: from the stress?
Besides, he actually considers that map to be award winning A work. :(

I think Bob pushed him into PVCC with the CADD thing because he was still hopeful (delusional) that their special snowflake might make something of himself yet. A trial balloon maybe to see how he would handle college and maybe try a real school if he did okay there.

Then the attraction signs happened. And the showdown with Mary Lee Walsh and the expulsion happened.

And it dawned on him that Chris was hopeless, he cut his losses, and got him the tugboat. At it stands, getting a 4-year-degree could jeopardize the tugboat if someone at SS sees it and thinks, if he could do this why can't he hold down a real job? Even if it takes him 12 years to get it at the same rate as the PVCC saga.

Just my 4 cents worth.

This exactly. Bob got him the tugboat after he realized that his son really had no possible future being a valuable member of society.
He was fired from Wendys after only a few weeks and it took him six years to get a two year degree on top of being expelled for a year, arrested at Target, the mall, and thrown out of multiple stores.
While he still fought for the adult autistic child, it wasa lost cause.

They couldn't just give him free money like that. They could've referred him to vocational school at least. I don't know how American social security works in detail though.

This kind of reminds me of Chris still having a handicapped parking permit. Wonder if the government thinks he has something else in addition to da autism or if the bureaucracy just doesn't care.

In the state of Virginia, autistics can have handicapped parking permits. New York state is the second state that allows that but the rest of America doesn't. Sometimes, I wonder why they have such laws and wonder if there's a stigma against autistic people. Even if there was, these autistics still are expected to be part of society by working and making a living from that.

I wonder why autistic people are even given handicapped parking permits. I thought those were for people who had trouble walking.

To Raymond:

That's what I've been wondering too. Ask the legislators in Virginia and New York. Or if anyone in the CWCki forums is from those states, they might be able to explain it in this thread of why autistics in those states qualify for disability parking permits.

Just googled it, and apparently, it's for autistic kids because they're afraid those kids are going to wander and get hit by a car.
