As IP farms for sure. I'm less confident that any care will be taken to hire talented writers and artists to produce monthly floppies, or that circulation figures won't continue to tank even if they do make that investment.

The weird thing about comics is that people like having physical copies, at least in part to prove that they're the biggest fan of the book. It makes no sense for comics to continue as a physical medium though in an age of subscription-based entertainment models. So far digital hasn't really found its footing; if that changes as the old timers die off and people stop caring about owning the physical books, I guess in theory the Big Two could continue to produce high-quality work for digital consumption. I'm skeptical, though, when every Cal Arts Tumblrista has a webcomic that you can read for free, and piracy continues unchecked.

ComicsGate already made it's point, which was that part of the reason the Big Two are collapsing is because of Get Woke culture. So if that's your definition of ComicsGate, it's dead. Entertaining as it is, there's no real reason for YouTube critics to point and rage at SJWs ruining Spider-Man.

Those Youtubers failed.

The Big Two isn't going to change, it's going to ride this shit down into the ground, and that's why we're finding a new way to produce, market and sell comics outside of the mainstream. Zack is one of the only OG ComicsGaters to realize this and make the transition.

I called that ComicsGate Phase 2, and that's just promoting our own non-SJW comics to great success. It's still doing great, despite my weight, my ego, and the deadly memes of Cherries and War Campaign. OG ComicsGaters despise this reality. They want the business of pros marketing to OG ComicsGaters old audiences to STOP.

It's not gonna.

All the ComicsGate tranny shit already happened in 2017. "Man in a Party City Wig."

The continued publishing arms of Marvel and DC will almost certain die, within 5 years. They can maintain the IPs consistently in other ways now, and there's no way to sustain the traditional model of publishing.

You'll see digital libraries of old, and maybe a little new material available, but too many factors are converging to bring all of this to a close.

Nah. I can see Marvel relaunching Carl Manvers' solo series about 20 more times within those 5 years, and giving more gigs to people with no prior comics experience simply because they

A) meet certain minority criteria (lesbian, check. Latina, check. You're hired to write America, Ms. Rivera!)

B) look like the character (I swear the next Beast miniseries is going to be written by SonicFox)

C) call a bigwig racist/sexist, prompting the idiot to fall for this lame tactic by giving them a job to prove how not racist/sexist they are. BRB - going to call Joey Quesadilla a gay basher so he will let me write Iceman and I can retcon that whole "Bobby is gay!" retardation*

As for DC, they aren't as bad, since they seemed to corral the faggotry to Vertigo, then letting the cancerAIDS waste away to nothing. Vertigo will be back in a few years once all the danger hair whales die of heart failure and the soyboys all end up in jail for sexual assault/rape. Then it will safe for them to publish stuff on the level of Preacher and Transmetropolitan again.

*I'm a homo, and even I think having Bobby revealed as gay was so fucking stupid. Then they made it worse by letting Sina Grace write it, and turned Bobby into every gay cliche from the 80s and 90s.

At least when Peter David had Rictor and Shatterstar come out, it felt like a natural progression for the characters and didn't make them all about "YASSSS QWEEN SLAY LEMME GET DAT DICK" like Bobby.

I also don't think they'll be canned for one simple reason: Warner and Disney already round them off the books and don't count them into their earnings.

Simply put they don't give a shit.

Personally I'm hoping that when the Don in Chief's out of office these spergs will calm the fuck down and stop using comics as their personal therapy.

Never gonna happen. They were determined to inject propoganda into the comics way before 2015. Brian Visaggio already let it slip that he'd rather be writing books about socialism than writing comics. He's such an untalented hack that not only was he incapable of getting picked up to write books, he was also too untalented to get picked up to write comics. Fortunately for Brian calling onself a Transtrender takes less time than investing in self-improvement. The comic jobs came a-flooding in after a quick trip to the Dollar Store to grab some make-up.

A talented creator can turn personal therapy into a fascinating story. What they need to do is start hiring talented people. But talent usually costs money, so instead they get ideologues and Tumblrites - though that's a tautology. Marvel in particular doesn't seem to worry about making money as much as trying to tell everyone what comics they should want, and calling them scum when they don't agree.

That's the stuff that Comicsgate was ostensibly for: pointing out the comics that were bad, and that the creators were classic SJWs in that they couldn't take any criticism and thought everyone who disliked their work was a fascist, and were more than happy to call them that online. It was a pushing back against zealots that were trying to force an agenda, and using ideology as a very poor substitute for their lack of talent. That a few creators who would otherwise be shut out have found a way to serve an audience eager to buy their stuff is an added bonus, but really it doesn't impact the companies that have decided to go all in on wokeness.

Now, though? The last, what, 200 pages of this thread have been a granular detailing of incredibly autistic, incredibly dull arguments between dull men about dull things. It likely was inevitable, but that doesn't make it any less boring. More fool me for having read - or at least skimmed, words cannot express how little I care about anything to do with something called War Campaign - a great deal of it, hoping it would stop being so exceptional.

Yeah I’m new to comics but most of the stuff I purchase is either manga from or older material (more specifically dark horse Star Wars and dc during the post crisis pre new 52 era).

It's all over except for the screaming and the autism and the years of every talentless hack in corporate comics screeching that anyone who criticizes them is a literal Nazi Comicsgater to excuse their shitty sales and garbage products.

One thing's for sure, SJWSpiderman's assessment that the anti's needed to change up their tactics and conduct their gay ops from behind block bots has been effective, he correctly surmised that in the absence of a common foe to fight, Comicsgate would probably eat itself.
And as soon as all their clout chasing detractors lost interest in them and ran off after the new hot girl in the class, WeebWars, that's sorta just what Comicsgate did.


Still, there's always room for a 'plot twist' though.

Here's the deal:

Comicsgate sprung from a demand for counterculture content created by the Big 2's failure to connect with their audience. D&C was one of the first people to fill that demand, but many others followed. Two years later, there are now dozens of people creating Comicsgate content. Most are copying D&C's or The Quartering's style, and early adopters (D&C, Ethan, YF and TUG) have a clear advantage in the marketplace. What we're seeing now--the so-called "death" of Comicsgate--is merely stagnation in growth because we've reached something of a saturation point for Comicsgate content. People have their favorites, and following more than one or two content creators is pointless because they all reiterate the same points in the same manner.

Stagnation can be permanent, but it can also set the stage for disruptive elements to come along and reenergize/reshape the market. Just like Ya Boi influenced a lot of people and changed the way we discussed comics on youtube, some random schlub can come along and do it all over again at any time.

In all likelihood, Comicsgate will never die. It will merely evolve as new content creators change the way we view the movement.

If it manages to get mentioned in some articles like GamerGate, it'll just be like a zombie or a dead horse beaten on repeat though I doubt it'll get that same fame as GamerGate. I haven't paid any attention to ComicsGate but even with whatever tism it has, be it the spergs like SJWspiderman and Renfamous screeching about some comic artist they don't like or EVS making dumbshit moves like accusing Doug TenNapel despite Doug being on his side, it won't compare to whatever tism GamerGate had. Any mention of CG will likely be either on Twitter as with the accounts of the people mentioned or by some comic book site that'll use it to try and get some clicks.

All that's needed for a plot twist is someone with enough tism to bring it to light. Granted, if the anti's keep up some gay ops from behind block bots, they won't have a plot twist unless one of them actually does try to dox some CG sperg or some CG sperg like TUG actually brings someone like Renfamous or Tim to court.
 
Yeah I guess the guy whom most consider the George Washington of Comicsgate (sorry Capn Cummings) suing the Kingdom Come writer who is in turn being defended by the Pam Am 103 bombing settlement-getter lawyer doesn't quite rise to that level.

Free time to damsel
Political connections
media connections
progressive stack.

I would say that if Mark Waid were Chelsea Van Valkenburg and in a Lawsuit against Ya Boi then that just might have been enough of a spark to get the MSM more involved. Waid is still a privileged White Male on the progressive stack.
