A few weeks ago I noticed that a couple of issues of Preston's Guinevere And The Divinity Factory were released on Comixology. Today they were joined by Kamen America
It got me thinking, so I looked around, trying to think of books that were A: more closely tied to comicsgate and B: actually - you know - completed and released. Of the very short list that I could think of, I found only one - an obscure title called T-Bird and Throttle, a crowdfunded 54-page book and mini issue #0 that were fulfilled in 2018 and then promptly fell off my radar if not the face of the earth.

I'm curious about the barriers to having your book distributed on Comixology. Is it an 'SJW' platform? They have a BLM category but you might say that about any big business these days. If a Trump fanboy and the guy trying to claim the 'comicshate' trademark can have their books accepted there, why no Cyberfrogs or Graveyard Shifts? Does the boycott come from comicsgate's direction, like those dumbass "comicsgate only" and "Kickstarter is the devil" declarations? Or is it a little more cynical than that, and has to do with that division between catering to those youtube stans and catering to comic readers?
They can't charge $25 for their pamphlets.

But Comixology is a viable way to re-sell some of the older books and (I believe) has good royalties.

Yeah, I remember Zack used to crow about how digital sales are flat. It's a small pie but still one you can grab a slice of. And then maybe someone would buy Pandemic to read instead of instagramming it alongside their creepy gun collection.

True!

I would have thought that once the book was already paid for on Indiegogo, a stint on Comixology would bring in a few extra cents from casual readers, and also drum up interest for the story, ahead of future crowdfunding.

Silly me. I already forgot that story is entirely beside the point of comicsgate books.

Yeah, Ditko always seemed like the kind of guy who would respect a guy who trades in petty internet drama and shameless self promotion to sell his books. That was reclusive Steve's goto right?
Ditko was the type of guy who would get annoyed with internet Karens telling comic book professionals what they're allowed to type/say/think.

Digital is 85% of my Amazon sales. Depends on the marketplace/customer base. Crowdfunders prefer the tangibles.

Steve's dead Jon. He was an elderly man who I doubt could describe the internet. Stop arguing that a dead man would totes defend you. Hey! Isn't that what Marvel used Stan Lee for in his last days?

If only there was an objective way to fact check all of that, but digital is just vague enough that skeptics can throw rocks at it and advocates can pimp it up.

The truth is, it's probably better than sitting on an IP. But, if you only sell a couple thousand copies to a tiny, physical market of boomer pay piggies it isn't worth the trouble.

Is that what his nephew told you?

No one is telling you what you're "allowed to type/say/think" . Such a perpetual victim. So far on this topic alone you've played your worn out victim card with Preston, NAP, Vikki and me.

If you don't like what others say about your actions you can change your actions or quit reading what they say about you on a board designed for that purpose.

I'm not enjoying your streams with Riceman. Neither of you even have 2K Youtube subs to your name

Biatch!

That means you contact Null, give him 20 dollars through a money order or 20 bucks worth of Bitcoin and he’ll put a “True an Honest” tag under your profile name. Then you can use reactions like Semper Fi and Achievement.
Nasser's backed more than $20 of my books. Does that count?

Oh he has to give NULL money. Not me. Sad.

I'm only seeing 1.99K here, maybe some people immediately unsubbed when they saw your post.

But more importantly, congratulations on discovering the word curio for the very first time in your life last night, at whatever age you are, as a professional English writer:

Hater's gonna hate no matter what and I see you're the kinda guy who will just keep negging and picking, but I'll keep winning, you keep seething. Actually sitting at 2,001 now, a great science fiction number for my great science fiction books.

Late and gay, but if EVS is the Sargon of Comicsgate, then Capn Cummings would be the Jim of Comicsgate. Warcampaign is the Vee of Comicsgate.

But who is the Matt Jarbo of Comicsgate??
Everyone still in Comicsgate is the Matt Jarbo of Comicsgate.

I know this was already answered, but to expand on it; It was Richard Meyer who went on several rants about how terrible digital comics are and how they make no money. He was talking out of his ass of course, but the entirety of the CG loyalists fell into line, because falling into line is what they do.

What does the Semper Fi tag even mean? Are we in the marines?

from what I’ve seen, it’s usually given out when a particularly disgusting or idiotic cow gets doxxed or gets into legal trouble because of the actions of one or more kiwi‘s due diligence. Like if you go back and look into the case of Nick Bate, you‘ll see that a lot of Semper Fi’s were given out when that pedo got arrested.

Some assorted stuff going on around Comicsgate:

David Finch continues to gain around 5,000 subscribers per week for his unaffiliated weekly comics channel, with Socialblade projections to eclipse Zack's channel in subscribers in two months and Frog's channel in four if things continue their regular pace. But new youtubers pop up all the time; what's interesting lately is the arrival of former secret Comicsgate patron Nick Barrucci making regular appearance now on Finch's stream; Dynamite running an IndieGogo campaign for a Finch-drawn Red Sonja variant cover. At $17,850 made off of 128 backers, this variant cover campaign makes the previous CG-Dynamite collaborations look economical by comparison. While the profits aren't quite what they used to be with Comicsgate, Nick can continue to pursue crowdfunding as a publisher without collective action taken against him by the rest of the industry and as a bonus can even pursue being a youtube personality himself, which I suspect was always a personal desire of his that's drawn him down.

Also, early CG exile Mike Wheeler has partnered for his wife for his debut as a comic book writer, something which regrettably escaped my notice until now.

From break out writer, Mike Wheeler and industry veteran artist Mindy Wheeler comes “Boobs.” Boobs is a parody satire book about a cosplayer who, despite her enormous assets, can’t seem to stay out of trouble. With her trusty photographer, Sumchai at her side there’s nothing she can’t attempt to accomplish. Join us on this wonderful ride full of twists and turns as she takes on #Comicsfence, the Skirmish Campaign and their evil leader Gaylord Von Slobber! Also, did we mention boobs? Yes, there will be boobs.

Hosted on Mike Wheeler's own crowdfunding platform of "IndieCrowdfund" (also including Otis Stein and Florida Man) , one is left with many questions after reading the sales pitch for BOOBS. We may not know what "#comicsfence" refers to or who "Gaylord Von Slobber" might be, or even how 1380 copies were sold to 27 backers - a figure that seems pulled out of a Roiloupian fever dream - it may be related to how the project owner is also the platform owner. Or for that matter who is even who is doing the art for this comic?

And yet I admit my disappointment that I was unable to get a copy of BOOBS for myself. Well played Mike Wheeler, well played.
