I recall reading the Survivalist Board's thread on creepy encounters in the woods and other weird shit many years ago. There's a lot of anecdotes in there, some of you might like to peruse them. And it started before the creepypasta fad got big, so most of them sound more plausible than the robogranny under Mount Shasta posted in this thread a while back.

His car got stuck at night so he wanted to walk to a nearby town, He talked to his father on the phone while walking until he said "Oh shit!" and then he disappeared forever.
Wtf happened to Zigmund Adamski?
He disappeared for a few days and then was found dead on a pile of coal wearing clothes that weren't his and a new weird haircut. But no one dragged him up there and there were no traces around the pile. It was like he was lowered down from above. A gel like substance was found on his body and scientists couldn't find out what it is. His face was f full of terror even when he was already dead and he died from a heart attack which means he saw something so scary that he died.

I know, I cringed when reading "ritual sacrifice" and "Odinism" about the Delphi case, for I too remember the Satanic Panic and how every single little thing, from major crime to a candy wrapper on the ground was Satan.

This is not a religion. This is a gang. It has a lot of members. Those members for the most part look like normal members of society. They have families and friends. They have jobs. Perhaps one of them cooked your food when you last ate at a restaurant. Maybe one of them cuts your grass. One of them might have handed you your prescription medicine at the CVS. You might have been working out next to one at the gym. Gotten a traffic ticket lately? One of them may have been the guy who wrote it.
Chances are, two kids were killed in a pagan-themed gang initiation. Bonus points if the creeps filmed it to sell as snuff porn.
Will the killers ever be caught? That might depend on how many of the cops are quietly members of the gang and are sabotaging things from the inside, and how many people involved die.
I mean, probably a coincidence that Detective Greg Ferrency was shot and killed, and that Sgt Stephanie Thompson, who gave polygraph tests died in a mysterious house fire. They were both mentioned in the motion for a Franks Hearing.

Trow Ghyll skeleton
Unidentified skeleton found in a cave in England in 1947. Death was estimated between 2-6 years previously. None of the bones were broken and there was no obvious signs of foul play or accident. He was found with many small incidental belongings but most notably a small ampule and bottle of cyanide. The ampule was unbroken and the bottle was "full to the shoulder" but it's still possible he could have had a fatal dose. It's often speculated he was a German spy, but it's really just a complete mystery.

Unidentified female corpse found under a bush in England in 1981. An anonymous man called the police one day and told them where to find the decomposing corpse. When asked who he was, he declined to say for "reasons of national security" and hung up after less than a minute. Neither the dead woman nor the male caller have ever been identified nor have there ever been any solid clues. Her body was exhumed for DNA testing and is now in a database, so there's a good chance she could be identified in the future.
Ricky McCormick
Ricky McCormick was a 41 year old with chronic heart and lung problems and a minor criminal history of statutory rape, but with no obvious enemies. He was found dead in a corn field one day in 1999, partially decomposed and last seen 5 days prior. In his pockets he had two pieces of paper with unidentified writing on them which several cryptographic institutions have tried and failed to decipher. Cause of death was never established and the FBI considers it a homicide and the notes as having something to do with his death. His family rejects this view and say basically that Ricky would write gibberish down and he was too stupid for any kind of coded writing. I'm inclined to believe it was just a hillbilly who had a heart attack and a habit of writing nonsense, but then again what was he doing in a cornfield 15 miles away from his home when he didn't even own a car?
