It's really funny how Phil would rather be a shut-in and instead of going to a restaurant to eat something decent since he can't cook, he instead only gorges in gross microwaved shit.
This explains his "peculiar" body shape
I don't think Phil ever valued fine dining to begin with, just listen to him talk about "robust custom" cuisine. The dude just loves being fake as hell, it's no wonder that even when he doesn't have to lie to cover up his sleazy antics he still does plenty of bullshitting. He never grew out of the childish "pretending to be cool" phase.
There's a reason he spends so much more money than he has to and expects others to be impressed, even though it would be easier and less expensive to enjoy his life without trying (and failing miserably) to flex constantly. It's because he doesn't enjoy normal things.
Just got around to watching him play Blackjack and there's no way in hell this guy isn't an addict. That was extreme clown mode. He was more invested in that mini-game than he was in any game he's played in ages.
I do believe it is the only time we've ever witnessed what it looks like when Phil is having a genuine good time doing what he likes to do. He may be able to tolerate walking simulators and interactive movies, but he clearly doesn't like them the way he likes gambling. He resorts to them because of eight years of TIHYDP. Blackjack, gacha, and the like are what he gets off on, and not even from them being low on the skill requirement. That doesn't cross his pea brain, clearly. It's more instinctual, primitive, like a chimp being entertained by a jack-in-the-box.
Probably the thing that bothers him so much about everybody knowing he's hooked on a mobile game. It may not even be the money at all, but just simply the awareness of something he actually likes. He seems quite prone to disliking the truth of his interests and troubles being public, even when they're not particularly entertaining or exposing. Again, he seems to really prefer being fake, whether it accomplishes anything or not.
