Once Leanna entered his life you could tell that soured the friendship slowly. The move to Seattle was the final nail in the coffin. I ain't blaming Leanna for all of this but DSP putting pussy on a pedestal shows you what type of guy he is.

What still amazes me is that this is something regular people get a notice of in the mail and barely give it a second though.

DSP probably had this shit penciled into his schedule from 16 months ago and no doubt it's the highlight of his year so far.

I can't wait for his evening stream when he does a 38 minute long explanation of the intricacies of the fire alarm inspector man.

With Phil's unique storytelling skills I'm sure the excitement of a contractor who visits houses on a daily basis for a living will not be lost on his audience. This is some top-quality material for his prestream and I hope he takes full advantage of telling us how the contractor had to use a different sized screwdriver because someone incorrectly installed the alarm.

Maybe, to spice things up, we'll get to hear the unique story about how the contractor had to ask to borrow Phil's vacuum cleaner to remove some cobwebs from the socket?

I've spent the past several hours wondering what specific model and brand of fire detector Phil uses, because I'm sure he only uses the Keurig equivalent.

Phil is totally going to wow everyone tonight with his explanation of how the fire codes have changed and the fire alarm inspector had to use a blue colored power cable instead of a red colored power cable.

This is another angle to Phil's story that makes me think it isn't just narcissism.

After his job loss (where Phil claimed to have some real life friends or at least colleagues he was familiar with) Phil turned inward to the internet. Phil's bitterness meant that he took this negative event in his life and used it as the ammo he needed to never have to change anything. The friends and colleagues he once had (and Leanna at some point) that would keep him in check are now gone. The day to day stories from those people that provide a degree of relative thinking ("my mom just died" or "I just lost my job") are now gone, and Phil has no living, breathing person to compare himself to.

What you're hearing from Phil is someone who doesn't have to account for their actions in any way besides on occasion have to bend down to his supporters. This makes it difficult to think the way Phil currently talks and acts (or indeed since he got fired from his job and became a full-time YouTuber) isn't just an environmental factor. Narcissism is a lot more complicated than that.

My thoughts are that the only way to get a better gauge would be to have someone who knew Phil before his YouTube career. There have been people who claimed this, but no one solid.

What I've seen from Early SF2- 'teen-early 20's' pics John knew Phil around the SF2 days before he started uploading stuff to YouTube? I'm not sure but did John ever knew Phil in-depth to a good degree?

It's not even that, it's because he cannot let go of the past and in his mind being "pro". That's all he is doing is reminding people what a pro he is. Has nothing to do with the new games, it has everything to do with him pathetically trying to flex his e-dick and he won't admit his reflexes are terrible.

I don't think Leanna really caused Big Phil to change that much, considering the fact that he spent money on a new BMW with the earnings from their collabs while John and Howard had to take days off from their day job just to get the show together.
They were criminally underpaid by Goutboy while putting in just as much (if not more) work than Phil himself.

I really hope Null fixes the wiki sometime soon, I can't login and I'd love to overhaul the DSP wiki page and fact check/add sources for all the data in it.

I don't know what he expected from a MvC game either. They can be mashers, but if you actually know how they work, they aren't. He just has issues it seems wrapping his head around fighters that he isnt used to.

Also, ST isn't exactly a "good game". It's broken and random as fuck in tons of areas, doesn't make it not fun, its a lot of fun, but its not exactly the pinnacle of what a fighting game can be.

Off topic, I know but it's heavily debatable. A lot of FGC (and not just SF members) do consider SSF2T to be one of the best fighting games around, despite it's issues.
Everyone though, agrees it's a good game, it's just debatable if it's really the best SF game, or hell even the most balanced SF2 version (Hyper Fighting/Turbo has gotten a reputation for being the most balanced and polished one)

• Asks you to put some money toward merchandise based on a skit show you're both part of, then sells the merchandise and doesn't give you any of the profits
• Gives you the run-around when you try to explain that you put money toward the merchandise expecting some of the profit
• Puts you on the far, far back burner when he gets a girlfriend that clearly doesn't like you

and you shrug it off because you're friends, then

• Moves literally as far across the country as he can away from you out of nowhere

and you still attempt to reach out to him to keep in touch, despite him ignoring you

• Shit talks you in public behind your back to thousands or even tens/hundreds of thousands of people

and you're pretty damn diplomatic when responding to it.

DSP is the kind of fellow where karma needed an outlet. Somewhere along the line he lucked out on people that tolerated his shit behavior, enormous ego, and skin thinner than paper, making him think he's better than he really is - and that he earned his current situation through pure skill alone. This would probably go a long way towards explaining why he doesn't put in more effort to learn anything, if this is true. If he already thinks he's doing the best, any setbacks are someone else's fault.

What's deserved will eventually come around to bite him.
He had a great run so far, but 4-5 years down the line he's going to be stuck in momma's basement or on the streets, I kinda feel bad for him just stumbling through life even with the luck he has, and keep in mind that the taller they are the harder they fall.

Being "good" at video games isnt required to be a youtuber or a streamer. What is required however if you arent excellent at games is to have a personality better than a wet mop.

I'm terrible at video games. I suck at Souls games (I never got gud) I can get lost in a box, and I've even failed spectacularly at Mario games. But I still have fun despite my epic suckage. I'll sit down with Persona or another RPG and really have a blast. I might read a strategy guide, I might ask friends for help, I might use cheats. But I dont claim to be some amazing pro gamer. I claim to be just some person who sucks at video games, but still has a blast playing them.
And that's what is enjoyable about watching others play games. Watching them either crush something I find difficult, or watching them for their personalities. I watch one streamer who usually pulls down somewhere between 30 and 70 viewers at any given time. They play a niche market of games. But they're positive, even when they're failing at Phoenix Wright. They dont blame the game devs, they dont call the game crap if they're not winning spectacularly, and they look like they are actually having fun.

Phil on the other hand looks miserable playing video games. I dont think I know one single game that he's played that he's constantly praising the game, or even praising the game more than shitting on it.

He just went live, so I'm gonna update this post with his shit:

• Says he had a really odd time
• Says he was talking about the inspector coming all week
• The alarm system is built into his garage opener
• The heat sensor detects flame, smoke or heat
• If it detects a fire it sets of a common alarm, and it alerts the entire neighbourhood
• He's whining about how loud the alarm is
• "Here was here testing all the alarms in our triplex"
• He's whining that the guy was 'late'
• "But I didn't know this, but I'd been hearing some noise from neighbours house (he makes beeping sounds) it'd go off during the day, is it like an alarm clock?"
• "apparently their garage fire alarm was malfunctioning"
• The inspector found his neighbor's alarm was faulty and had to spend an hour to replace it
• Phil couldn't stream because he had to make sure his garage door was open
• Apparently the inspector tested the alarm for like 2 minutes and Phil said it was so loud he had to go and hide in the laundry room

• Next week he's gonna play cuphead which he also has to play (its unclear if cuphead will take precedent over Spyro, but it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to treat Patron's like shit)
