Drgnkiller tweeted this out. It's VERY similar to Phil, but who knows for sure.

"No one told me I needed to keep them [tax records]" This sure sounds like Phil, or does being a "YouTuber" either attract or create people who are unable to function in the adult world?

Edit: Here's the little known search trick that "Mr. YouTuber" needs to uncover the secret IRS record retention information that they don't want you to know!

I checked the video out of curiosity. Triple checked if i have adblock on.
Him trying to say that his job is hard, despite saying it's just sitting and playing a game is the funniest part so far.

Edit: He said "too bad i don't have one of these oil barons who watch my kahntent and are silent majority, who are gonna just finance me and let me be happy"
Damn @BSV you're really not stepping up hard enough

Beautiful thing if Phil is getting audited is that no matter what, even if he were to end up owing nothing, is it will take A LOT of time & effort on his part that he can't just pawn off on an accountant. It'd be hell for him:)

This is the most likely reason for him taking a week off in october. It's not for relaxing, it's for preparing documents for the audit with his accountant.

Might be horribly wrong, I know shit about the IRS or Youtube stuff, but if Onision is getting in trouble with the IRS supposedly, its possible that they are also going after Phil as well? I mean, if one gets caught, I'm sure there's many more where that comes from.

Phil has said in the past that he was only able to deduct the square footage of his office and seemed somewhat familiar with his particular tax laws. Also, Phil wouldn't go to dinners to discuss collaboration with partners. Additionally, it doesn't have Phil's hallmark of capitalising ALL the letters in a word to emphasise a point. No way that post is him.

It can't be a health issue because how would he not be sure if he could talk about it?

Another thing that struck me recently is how he complains about not having enough time for his breaks. Why the fuck does he have to post them immediately after the stream? Why can't he just chill out and post them in the morning when he gets up? Or after his 2nd stream?

IRS might be looking for documentation that he doesn't have. He might have deducted everything right, but if he doesn't have any supporting documentation, then he's fucked during an audit. If he doesn't have adequate documentation, then the IRS will declare those deductions void and he will have to pay additional taxes.

Definitely sounds like an audit---what other "notice" could cause him to "lose everything"? Having been there and done that, I'm not even making fun of Phil on this one. He's full of self-pity as usual and takes no responsibility, but he sounds legit depressed and he doesn't ask for money in the new video, so I'm going to take a pass on bashing the guy. I'm sure he'll do something else horrible in the near future to ridicule.

Was Phil still in contact with John Rambo and Howard in 2014? They could be the "Youtubers" he had "business lunch" with. Either way, it could be Onision and not him on that Reddit post.

Oh boy, if Phil gets fucked by government bureaucracy of all things, that'll be funny as hell. Not for a lack of warning, mind you, since people have been speculating (in this very own thread, no less) that he could end up facing problems with the IRS. Beep beep, Phil.

Many things about Phil's life would solve themselves if the motherfucker could refrain from watching shitty movies or wrassling until 5 AM every single day, and actually waking up around 9 AM (which is still a luxury wake up time, since most people who work will wake up around 7-8 AM). He'd have enough time before his stream to have a decent breakfast, take a shower, perhaps even go to a nearby gym and exercise a little.

He claims his sleep schedule is fucked up, but that's something you can easily fix in 1 or 2 days of maintaining a proper sleep schedule. I know from experience, it's piss easy to do it. He could even do it gradually since he's in no rush to do it, sleeping 1 hour earlier every night until his hours are more "normal" without any real sacrifices.

Don't forget about his past arrogance about his "business" and how everything was hunky dory because he had this Dean of Accounting dude doing his taxes. I'll enjoy him squirming through an audit and get completely fucked out of his assets, if that's the case (which I'm still not sure it is). This situation, if confirmed, will be 100% his own goddamn fault, the best kind of Phil situation that there is to laugh at.

I think this the most likely scenario if he's not outright lying. It is curious though, the deductions that he goofed up on can't amount to that much. Maybe he just got a notification of intent to audit and thinks the sky is falling when at worst he'll owe a couple grand.

The OP on the Reddit thread claims he may owe the IRS around $300k. How the fuck would Phil be able to owe that much to the IRS? His house alone isn't worth that much.

Also, who the fuck asks for legal advice on Reddit, instead of an attorney? Because if I'm having problems that could possibly land me in jail and/or bankrupcy, the first people I want telling me what to do are redditors.

Yeah, that's why I don't think it's him. Phil is just not big-time enough to pay $100K/year in federal taxes, even if you assume there are penalties and such rolled into that number.
