Happy to report, still no ads on stock Brave. Brave bros stay winning
No ADs on Firefox/Chronium based browsers with Ublock Origin either. I dunno how will they take action against this but at this point I assune they'll manipulate legislators to pass laws that equate AD blocking with piracy and outright make it illegal. Silicon Big Tech has an unbelievably high sway over politics best seen with the anti Fake News Crusades back in 2016 (that also conveniently collided right after Obama literally sold ICANN to the UN).

It will never happen. Unless somebody can make something that's much more convenient for the end user. Let's not forget a big part of the user base are from the Third World. They have zero standards or expectations.

Yeah which is what exactly makes this VERY bad, the non-political CCs have way more sway over say, YT or Twitter than political ones. Rest assured that most political CCs with differing opinions towards the narrative had stopped using (or cannot use) YT though.

Might just be too late for that. They had a lot of sway because they had a lot of money. Right now, Google is clearly hemorrhaging money judging by its behavior. They have to make more money than last year, that was the deal with the devil they signed when going public. Hence why they are becoming so desperate and erratic. After the BlackRock infinite money glitch dried up, they can't be so fast and loose and still be profitable like they were. No matter how doomer you get, world controlling dystopian companies cannot function with most of their employees being trannies and other flavors of sex freaks spending 90% of their workdays playing foosball and eating food supplied and paid for by the company instead of working.

I don't know if its throttling or something else but I've had severe choppiness on Brave on two different machines (Windows and Linux) last couple of days. Tonnes of dropped frames, stuttering and freezing video at 1080 and 720p. Its not a hardware issue or internet connection so assume Youtube/Google are doing something weird.

On the bright side, at least I've not seen one of those directly injected ads yet.

I've had that too, assume it was youtube screwing me over again and am just waiting a browser and extension update

Tubular, a fork of NewPipe has just been given an update, so now it can play videos with no issue.

YouTube did not kill adblockers/third-party leeching apps, it just started a new chapter in the perpetual arms race over enshittification.
Based as fuck thank you for telling us. Having to use YouTube Vanced is an indignity. No you bastards, I don't want to have to sign up to watch a video or have a subscription list or a watch history that saves my place. Fuck YouTube.

So Tubular is practically identical to NewPipe, except it also incorporates the Sponsorblock and ReturnDislike NewPipe forks into one app.

My only wish is that there was a way to go on livestream chats or comment on videos through YouTube without having to create and sign in to a YouTube account as I do want to ask some YouTubers questions from time to time.

Thats been an intermittent issue for years, you can use -R (i think) to throttle yourself, at which point you can un-trigger the detection. It seems their algorithm is trying to guess if you are self limiting and only throttles you super hard if it seems like you are gobbling up every bit you can get (presumably the legitimate players are self-throttling as well)

I noticed earlier today that YouTube started fucking up again on Grayjay. Within an hour or so a plugin update was ready to download and YouTube was defeated once again. Newpipe seems not so lucky. I'm assuming that YouTube took another stab at circumventing non google apps again. I have also noticed Grayjay have added a new feature where a minor text popup appears to inform you that it has "circumvented (1) YouTube block attempt".

I appreciate that Futo seems on the ball about this and I've been using it primarily for the past week or so. I just wish the download video option in Grayjay was designed differently. @larossmann you got any plans to get Grayjay handling downloads differently?

Google cannot win this one through attrition alone because it is basically giving YouTube frontends and apps free code-testing.

The only way for Google to win is if it can offer something that people legitimately want as the types of people that are aware of YouTube-leeching sites like Invidious and apps like NewPipe/Tubular are not going to shell out money for something like YouTube Red that can be had for free that is just a few clicks away and offers more options than vanilla YouTube such as listening in audio-only, playing in the background when minimized on mobile, no age/region restrictions, and video-downloading.

Google has plenty of normies that they can harass with ads and those in the know will eventually get around anything YouTube throws at them in terms of blocking third-party measures.
