Disable Group DMs

Another massive almost 1000-page chat DM was just deleted. Why are group DMs even an option if you are just going to delete them? This is horrible for archiving. If you admins truly don't want group DMs, why not only allow one-on-one DMs? Why allow group DMs only to delete them?
