It sucks to realize that this thing I sank so much time into and have so many fond memories with is just a total write-off and I'll never get to really enjoy it again but when the timer is 30 minutes and the score is 40-20 and the enemy team is just wandering around looking for kills instead of wrapping up I'm just bored and I don't care anymore. At 50 minutes I don't even care if I win, I just want the game to end.
I long for my teen Dota playing days, but any time I go back it's so miserable. Even the IRL friends I play with get this gay TDM mindset and stop pushing towers to go for epic ownage kills, wandering around in the enemy jungle, running into the 3 enemy team members that have been missing from the map for the past 5 minutes, and turning what would be a sure win in 5 minutes to an additional 20 minutes struggling to maintain the lead.
Feels like Dota needs mechanics that aggressively force even the retarded among the playerbase to actually play the game at hand instead of making up a new one on the fly. No idea how exactly to implement it, though. Maybe towers getting weaker over time so there's a mounting risk of getting the win quickly stolen from under you if you're fucking around with your lead.

They've gone the opposite direction with the massive nerfs to mega creeps. It used to be that if you got megas the game ended and that was the end of it unless, specifically, they had a medusa with a divine rapier. That was the only way for a comeback after megas. Nowadays any team can handle megas which makes you wonder what the fuck the point is.

I like my suggestion: the game ends at 60 minutes no matter what based on tower health. At 50 minutes, the ancients should literally turn into giant turrets that start killing towers one-by-one. If all towers are up at 100% HP, they will inevitably destroy the ancient at precisely 60 minutes. Damage to towers helps your team get an advantage during this period.

They should probably just make it where the timer starts doling out bounties to the team that's behind. 10/20/30/40/50 minutes in bottom 5 positions get bonus XP and Gold. Is that ultra competitive and sweaty? no, but it means that if you don't finish the fucking game you won't get to. Should even be a big announcement: "wow! you're not taking objectives! that means the bottom 5 get free shit!"

I'd play league, which is faster, but league just sucks and is designed to masturbate brazilians.
 
To add to the above, I really despise getting matched with and against parties. It's either the party suck, or they steamroll. No in between. The option to not get matched against/with parties only works in ranked.
Been like this with every game nowadays. Devs all over the world will never do anything to fix this issue. Its in WT, CS, DOTA and all games eternal.
 
I played four games today and I remember why I stopped playing. The game is fundamentally not respectful of your time. At low tiers, winning teams will just meander aimlessly looking for fights they will win repeatedly until eventually the sheer force of nature will destroy the ancient. The only way out of this is just to go super tryhard and rank up so that both teams are goal-oriented, but then you're can't "enjoy a game of dota" because you're "desperately trying to win a game of dota".

Like people say the average game of dota is 20-30 minutes but that's only true at high tiers where people are pushing whenever they can. An actual game is a mandatory 45 minutes. If it's close, it's 60+ minutes. I just can't justify a game that lasts 45 minutes each time.

Maybe you just shouldn't connect to the dumbest, laziest and genuinely worst regional servers in the entire game (east/west NA). Even the SEA players, despite being the weakest at the game, aren't that atrociously insufferable to play with.
Playing on euro servers with like ~150 ping is the preferrable alternative lol.
 
I played the tutorial once when the game was in secret alpha and never touched it again but I just played a real brawl game and oh no it's fun.

The game has a "secret" rank already. Click your Steam icon when you hit ESC and it will show your "skill ranking".

I assume when it leaves closed Beta it will probably have a ranked mode and cosmetics like other Valve games. Games quite great already though.

I am ok with soft MMR but splitting dota into ranked / casual / turbo absolutely ruined the psychological feel of the game for me.

Just treat ranked as the only game mode. Sure the game was better with just one option but nothing is stopping you

These are almost all mid. Niggas are SLEEPING on hoodwink's aghs. 1st item every game. One of the most powerfull in the game but not fully explored because of people playing support only. Across all these games i have not seen a hero able to tank the full combo at equal gamestate. The 3k hp heroes are easier to kill because they don't even expect it.
Just play Deadlock. Better game.
Begone this is DOTAFAG territory, All 5 of us playing it on the farms at least. Deadcuck is a good game if you can handle shit blasting your screen at light speed while you try to hit a moving target and most hero designs suck ass (too many subsaharans).

Null is completely off target with solutions but the game definitely has a stalling problem with the game being really hard to end. Just remove the billion glyphs and make towers less tanky. Probably rework buybacks too.

This is with enemies going afk. If your team defends no matter the stomp they won't beat 30 min. And i remember not that long ago a stomp like this would end 15-17 min sometimes. To be fair maybe 2 in 20 games do i get to see 60 min neutral items but that might be dependant on rank. Low ranks don't get the concept of ending the game requiring you to hit buildings.
