anyone remember Project: Altered Beast? Could've had something like that, the protagonist getting different forms and mutations that allows for a greater selection of abilities and opportunities to explore the world.
I don't, but what you're describing reminds me of Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead (which I think actually had a TF fetish cult among its playerbase somewhere come to think of it) A zombie apocalypse survival game where you can deliberately inject yourself full of tailor-made mutagens to lose your humanity in exchange for power, which you might actually desperately turn to given it's a zombie apocalypse where your fellow man is nearly as jumpy and irrationally trigger-happy as they come. Naturally quite a few of the mutation paths appeal greatly to furries, but others were more preserving of the human form, mainly "Medical" and one I think was called "Alpha"? Former pretty much gives you an x-men healing factor at the cost of arrogant, hubris-driven masochism and the latter is a rather low risk low reward set of improvements to your character (Its worst downside was junk food intolerance I recall. Doesn't sound bad but you're scavenging in a post-apoc here..) But I haven't actually played the game, I just wiki dived once over a year ago now.

There's a thread for the C:DDA game and its forks right here: Cataclysm. Still active, too!

Anywho... what I meant by bringing up Project: Altered Beast is that, personally, it's what Changed arguably should've been like.

In Project: Altered Beast, you play as an amnesiac soldier who's lost his memories, stuck in a town covered in a mysterious fog that's turning everyone into monsters. The soldier, named Luke Custer, quickly discovers that he has the ability to transform into a werewolf; what's more, by defeating certain enemies and stealing data chips that contain certain DNA strains, he can transform into other forms such as an avian, merman, minotaur, etc. Using these different forms, all of which having different abilities and specializations, Luke gradually travels around the fog-covered area, uncovering secrets and learning what, exactly, really happened.

Basically, in order to properly explore the world and fight the various monsters, you need to swap between different forms with different abilities, such as the avian form that allows you to fly or the merman that allows you to swim. However, you also need to be mindful of your Energy meter; you transform into a monster, the meter will start draining, and if you stay in said form for too long you'll start taking health damage until you switch back to your human form - as a human, it's easier to build up the meter by draining Energy from monsters, with the various monster forms being more designed for dealing damage and/or utility.

Essentially, what I was thinking for a "proper" Changed game would instead be to focus on the story/mystery aspect to it; have Lin explore the labs and learn about what happened, what the monsters are, why the world ended, etc. The transformation aspect could instead be designed for exploration/combat; have the protagonist acquire and use different forms for solving puzzles (i.e., gargoyle for super strength, shark for swimming) and for defending himself from the various monsters that're trying to kill him. He could acquire new forms/abilities by beating certain boss monsters, and then use the abilities gained to explore more of the lab, gradually opening everything up Metroidvania-style.

I dunno, just something other than the creepy "rape a child" scenario that we got force-fed. Pretty sure the only reason why it's not banned is because the rape/transformations are mostly done in the Game Overs, giving the furfags the excuse of "it's supposed to be something you avoid".

smh

Rapax meant the newer post-2021 builds of Special Edition with other content. The Steam version of Special Edition stopped updating in 2021.

Sorry to break it to you but this is really like nothing new

Oh hey, and that was me posting about the r/ChangedFurry server minor ban back there!

Back when I used to be a CHANGED fan, I AVIDLY defended DragonSnow. I just ignored and disregarded every bit of evidence and blurted out whatever EPI-defending mental gymnastics I was given by CLKisCool/Eldritch/Rapax

By now, I’ve pretty much realised how oblivious I was, jeez.

(I think this says a LOT about DragonSnow’s fans)

So it's kind of like a more gritty version of the Monster Boy franchise?

Thing is, he would never make a game like Altered Beast because noncon is very evidently a huge part of the appeal to DragonSnow himself. Willfully switching forms on a whim like Majora's Mask to solve puzzles and get around the world more efficiently would likely neuter the fetish for him and his dong will not expand over it. It seems for these people there has to be some significant degree of sado-masochism or they just don't feel it, that's my theory.

I don't get why these people can't just jack off to 30 minute duration baleful polymorph spells instead. Am I underestimating them here? Do they need the permanent life-ruining mind-consuming identity death aspect to get off as well?

Forgot about that series; yes, it basically is.

Given the VERY sharp increase in snuff porn and similar "bad end" shit in the community, it's a safe bet that the porn-focused furries explicitly need things to be fucked up for them to get off to it, yes. You can kinda see this is Changed itself, actually; the death animations have gotten significantly more extreme and horrific over time. Used to be the transformations "merely" had a rape aspect to it, but now there's graphic, in-depth descriptions of how Lin is getting penetrated. Used to be that Lin would get grabbed, struggle a bit before getting taken over, but now we get "lovely" cutscenes and narrations of how the child is desperately fighting to maintain his humanity/sanity before it's snuffed out by the furries. Used to be that the furries would just quickly "take over" Lin's body with little fanfare, now there's animations of Lin getting impregnated by giant bugs, monsters bursting out of Lin's body chestburster-style, Lin getting trapped and used as a seat/footstool by furfags forever, etc....

Put simply, the community has only spiraled into extreme hedonism over time, and Changed is a good example of it.

It's pretty sad to me, since I'm fairly certain if they weren't completely lacking in a certain level of self-awareness they could perhaps have gradually nurtured these tastes towards a more idealistic direction or at least some form of damage control via being selective in their consumption. But these are people that are completely, perhaps willfully, ignorant of the psychological conditioning effects of porn consumption and completely rejecting of any advice on the matter. They have not been given the mental weapons to resist the steady downward fall into the most grimdark aspects of their fetishes. And the ones who are underage absolutely do not have the equipment.

I agree, frankly; there used to be some genuine talent in the furry community, and even today you can catch a few glimpses of genuinely solid and entertaining artwork and storytelling. Problem is, the community as a whole instead decided to focus on making all of their artwork as dark and fucked-up as possible, focusing more on grooming kids into their cult and pushing more extreme, deviant tastes everywhere. What's even worse is the amount of fucksticks that think all of this shit is genuinely good; you got furry "communities" like the Changed fandom, Flexible Survival players, "The Korps" shared universe etc., that all encourage and worship this type of shit. It's all horrifying.

His name is a combination of "Amethyst" and "Narcissist". For some reason he is HEAVILY involved in Changed specifically for seemingly no reason
I remembered some new information about Amecissist. It's not much, but the detail is, he sometimes operates under the alt account name "Milcandybox". Might be useful to know, might be useless trivia.

even rapax was confused.
A big "We fucking TOLD you so" moment to Rapax. Of course he'll never learn, he's probably been playing dumb from the start though since it doesn't take a genius to know Changed and furry as a whole for that matter is bad for minors and will produce that kind of result.
