Werebelushi:
Three things i'd like to point out to that penis-headed moron on kiwifarms. 1. Okay since when is writing fanfiction childish or immature? A lot of people in the fandom community do it including ones who grown adults, does that make them childish? Yes fanbases CAN be childish and horrible at times, I mean look at the Homestuck fanbase and the Changed fanbase. I swear saying bad about Puro to the latter and they act like you killed their parents. And believe it or not there are fanfics that don't suck. You must have the singular minded view of thinking all fanfics are bad, look for every My Immortal and Sonichu comic there arfe good pieces out there. 2. Uhhh..clearly you cared a lot since you commented on a screencap from Nathan's old Experience Project page. Yeah that post is outdated. It's not Experience Project anymore, it's SimilarWorlds. 3. Nathan never did say a Grinch based OC was an original character, he didn't claim it was. Although you could make the argument that every fictional character ever creator starts off as an OC. The Grinch isn't entirely original either, I mean...a Christmas hating miser who gets a change of heart, sound familiar to anyone? Yep, a Christmas Carol. Yet guess what, Christmas Carol was published first and takes place in the Victorian era and is written differently, it's also dark in some parts. Dr Seuss came up with the Grinch in 1956 and he wasn't even green in the book, just black and white with red eyes, it wasn't until the 1966 tv special that the character became green from then on, also yeah as mentioned it is a completely different written book as opposed to A Christmas Carol. Apart from both characters being iconic Christmas characters who coincidentally were both played/voiced by Jim Carrey, there's nothing those two books have in common.
You know...I never saw the Charles Dickens Estate saying 'You know you cannot make a character who is a miser who learns a lesson at Christmas, we own that character trope, we will sue you if you make your Grinch book.' 'Really? You're doing a Christmas story about a miserly character? But that's OUR thing!'.
