Pretty close to it, but translation ais have never been the best of them, good at basic shit like translating menus and directions but conversational intricacies can be lost fairly easily, and ai has notoriously been bad at figuring out the context of things for a long time. We're approaching the 'it's over' moment but that won't be until sometime in the 2030s, when the art ais, language ais, voice ais, video ai models etc can all be used in the same software, even by the technically illiterate.

I agree HOWEVER when it comes to porn translation there's not a whole to really translate there. As far as legit translation of non-porno films I think you'd have a situation called "dubtitles" where the subtitles are not a 100% accurate translation but is an interpretation and that might be fine for most cases.

As someone that works in translation (and also happen to speak Japanese), I've been following how technology impacted the industry over the years, and if you're competent you don't have much to worry about with how things are. Yeah lots of websites will prefer to have a machine-translated version of their website for foreign visitors and maybe ask some poor freelancer to do the proofreading work for 30% the amount of what a translator would've asked, but if you do translation in technical area, novels, or anything that requires understanding of interpersonal relationships, you're fine.
Much like artists, the bad ones are impacted first and the top will never have to worry.

And corporate produced ai will never be able to learn, at least not for a long time, along with anything 'politically incorrect' to the powers that be. The wrong opinions get people and companies de-banked but nsfw content also does, which is why even companies like patreon want to avoid this shit like the plague even if they aren't directly supporting it, ai companies are just the most recent example of this aversion. It's odd that this exists, because it seems like making people pornsick is one of the great reset goals, but it do and a lot of people are generally going to be safe from ai-replacement as a consequence, at least up until open source options screw them over too.

I will say elevenlabs' voice generator has let people make shit I'm really surprised it lets people get away with, this thread and the music one are good examples of that, so perhaps this doesn't affect audio as much.

Hey just so you know, this is probably a great opportunity to generate some new voicelines for a character to use in RVC AI voice synthesis if you want to use it as a dataset and not have to pay ElevenLabs.
If you know how to use a basic video editor and audio cutting, you can splice together all the lines you have of a character > use that video and put it through ElevenLabs dubbing > select the language you want to translate it to > download that video of the dubbed audio > do that again for the other 29 languages and now you'll have 29 minutes worth of new voice generated audio (since this program will only output 1 minute max if you don't have an account on you).

!! IMPORTANT !!
ElevenLabs will cuck you out after the first runthrough, BUT if you clearout your cookies or open a private tab on your browser, you can reset the site so that it makes it seem like you're a firsttime customer using the program. You might get stuck on the video not dubbing for you after a couple of runthrough of different languages, the way I solved that is by switching IPs via a VPN, if it does happen to you that is.

most people would only need subs for the context, constant KIMOCHIIIIIIIIIIII is easy enough to look up.

MTL is also usually good enough to get the gist of it in general, tbh even with a translator it doesn't mean you'll get a good translation - either because it's a retarded ideologue, or it's done without context which depending on the language can look even worse (like try to translate "chest" without knowing what it applies to). the rest is easy enough to pick up for anyone with surface understanding of the language and translation quirks you get used to after a while. pure normalfags will still be lost tho.

as you said won't replace translators for everything everywhere, if ever, but it helps weebs enjoy their games etc. unmolested...

And then because I wanted to test how well RVC handled long-form audio recording, here was me swapping Rudy from Alpha Investments with JSchlatt's voice

Using an A4000, which is roughly equivalent to a 3080, I was able to convert 13 minutes of audio in 20 some-odd seconds. Apparently RVC can do live-conversion, I can't test that right now since I'm connecting remotely, but this was a lot better than I'd anticipated
