People really don't understand just how safe a bet it is.

First of all, desire for fame -- as in, fame alone, distinct from the commensurate recognition that comes from meaningfully contributing to society -- is a mental illness in itself. There is nothing healthy about wanting thousands of people to pay attention to you with no expectation of reciprocity. To say nothing of expecting them to pay you for the opportunity to do so.
Then as a subset of that you have the entertainment industry, which by and large champions people for their skill in portraying themselves inauthentically.
And as another subset of fame you have internet fame, which is somehow more pathetic; a tacit admission that you can't cut it on the main stage so you make yourself a sideshow.
So as a confluence of those two subsets you have livestreamers, wannabe entertainers who settle for e-fame. But even among livestreamers there are people with talent, people who play instruments or dedicate thousands of hours of their life to getting inordinately good at children's games. But then there exists a subset of livestreamers who offer nothing except a facsimile of human interaction; professional talkers and opinion havers, parasocial whores like Hasan and Ludwig and Asmongoloid and Critikal. Then somehow even below that is the ocean of e-whores who possess neither the talent nor the personality to be engaging so they make softcore porn on platforms frequented by children and/or commodify the rarified experience of... talking to a woman.
And then as a subset of that you have vtubers, who are all of the above but weebs at best if not wannabe jpop/kpop idols.
And then, among all of the terrible people that choose to be all of those things, you are only subjected to the ones that rise to prominence. Which means that not only are they among the select few who have dedicated an inordinate amount of time and energy and thought to excelling in one particular area, which is necessarily antithetical to being a well-rounded person; but the area they have dedicated an inordinate amount of time and energy and thought to excelling at is fucking vtubing.

You simply do not end up in that position without being fucked in the head five times over. Being a schizophrenic sadistic pedophile is just the cherry on top.
