No thread, update .12 rolled out recently. Which is a big change, tons of new gear, new map, new trader, and hide outs finally. Figured it would be a good time to make a new thread.

It's a fun game but suffers from poor map design, an awful quest system, atrocious spawns, terrible AI, a really godawful grind, extremely punishing and unforgiving to new players and is extremely feast or famine.
If anyone doesn't know it's a PvP/PvE game that's extremely realistic. You bring gear, mod guns and hunt for loot. The catch is that if you die, you lose all your gear. You can insure things, but a player can take all your shit. This makes for tense gameplay. The TTK is extremely fast and if you aren't armored enough you will barely have time to react.
If you like super hardcore games you'll like it. Its incredibly intense when you are trying to get out of a map with good loot. The game probably has the deepest weapon customization system out there. Even though a lot of the times you will feel like you put on the best gear, snuck carefully and then just got head shot by a terminator AI (they cheat and use hitscan sometimes and see through bushes and basically lock on to you). Theres also the problem of player spawns being clumped together, player Enemies (scavs, you can play as the enemy in this game) loading on top of you. Let's not even talk about the NPC bosses which blatantly cheat.
The designer said he wants to make it less and less fun and is prone to fucking stupid decisions like making keys have durability so they 'break'. Its billed as a noob can kill a late game player, but a lot of the time you are shooting bullet sponges since the ammo for newbs is basically rubber bullets. With the exception of a Mosin which basically blows holes in people if you can hit them with it.
For me, I feel theres a lot of wasted potential. Too much grind, too much bad map and loot design and inevitably everyone spends more time getting ready to play and kitting out than actually playing.
For example, five minutes gearing up, five minutes loading a map, one minute before you are gunned down and kicked back to the main menu, forced to heal between raids as if your character could survive their brains getting blown out from a sniper rifle.
Do you know if it's better or worse than DayZ? I've never played either, but it kind of sounds like it's playing off the same idea (extremely high-stakes survival).
TBH this is my biggest issue with the game. What the game does right, it does really right. But it feels like the game is a very rich get richer system.Tarkov has a huge problem with progression and IMO it listens to streamers way too much so that progression is VERY skewed to late game.
This is a game I liked watching on Twitch but I think will die after release. They're going to stop doing global wipes and that means the economy will be permanently flooded with endgame gear and make all the progression pointless.
It's also unfortunate and surprising that the game is built for CS-style spray battles despite being a hardcore shooter. The map design, movement, armour and ballistics makes pistols, shotguns and especially sniper rifles useless compared to any assault rifle. When I first heard of it I was expecting a lot of slower, DayZ-style sniper battles, but it's totally the inverse.

That is specifically why I chose to be Bear ever time there is a wipe. It makes that quest so much easier. They do claim that down the line they will add faction specific skill sets, but I will believe it when I see it.Personally, I don't even know why PMC factions even exist as they're utterly pointless unless you need to kill specific PMCs for quests. (Good luck with finding the Russian PMC faction players. There's about 3x as many US faction players as Bear Ones).
What would it take for BSG games to fix the game do yah think? I honestly think they should have more PVE raids/maps for lower end players to learn and grow in, and have higher end late game stuff be in more PVP shit so it isn't as much a system of super players dunking on level 3s. But I don't think they do it for the very reason of angering the streamer/hardcore autists.snipped

Also pretty much everything about the streamers/turbo autists being insane and unreachable is true. I am just verifying it for the others in the thread tbh. There is nothing like having access to only level 1 traders and getting dunked on by late game players because you don't have access to any kinda magnified optic in a reasonable manner or price. Especially when you need to do raids on maps where its a very sniping heavy map like Woods.
Can NPCs still see you through walls and shit? When I tried the game a year or so ago the AI seemed completely broken
Putting uses on one of the most needed keys in the game shows how out of touch they are as well and 'repairing' it using the absolute worst trader in the game with a pointless shit trade doesn't speak volumes in their ability to mitigate disaster. BSG actually believe once all the maps are done you'll go through them like some fucking idiotic open world. In a game where TTK is literally 1 to 2 milliseconds and oftentimes you'll basically die without really knowing where from (and the game provides very little to learn from it unless you're capturing your raids with software). Also the amount of information the game provides you for how you do is almost inconsequential unless you're fighting one or two people. The game is very much dry information wise, on nearly everything. Which is another problem. Like the game doesn't even tell you how much damage a bullet does or what level armor it penetrates or how much armor damage it does, I have to go to a fucking wiki for that, which is inexcusable.
The AI is still very much broken as its too hitscan still. They will either be terminators or incompetent. There is no middle ground.
IIRC there was talk of adding a kill cam or something but the streamers got mad at the idea and complained about it. As to your argument about the game being balanced for the turbo autists/streamer, I think its more of a push to get people to by the EoD edition. A pay to not grind system. Because I can say as someone with the $44 version it sucks having access to such a small stash space especially when you can't get access to boxes yet.
I also get the vibe that you are super mad at the game and the devs. Which I don't even blame you for, I really get the feeling that the game has potential and can be so much more then what it actually is. Like I said what they do right they really do right. Its just fucking everything else. Got any more stories n shit you wanna rant about? Its actually really cathartic reading it.
Also this is a super big issue too. Especially since a good chunk of early game quests are just grind kill scavs, when you have no access to good armor or guns. Like I am stuck on the early kill 15 scavs on woods quest cuz I don't have access to cheap optics, and all the scav bosses have the high tier shit and can aimbot you.
You now have to grind a 100 Killa kills for a quest/unlock. 10 / 10
