I think the idea in Tarkov is that you're paying off crackhead Ivan who drives the streets BTR to come and bail you out whenever you signal him, not that you actually own the BTR. Who knows, you could just have a BTR garage in the hideout in 2029 when the game goes from beta to Early Access.

So with the $500 edition do I get a tactical nuke? Depressing that the backlash pretty much subsided once EOD paypiggies got their P2W increased. Also ridiculous that they're charging to play the game offline with progression. No, Tarkov players being able to play a game offline isn't a DLC, no matter how you frame it. Isn't the game supposed to be in "beta" anyways?

To play devil's advocate, it's the first or second day that Grey Zone released, it doesn't surprise me that it has more views on Twitch.
It doesn't look particularly fun right now either. Of course it won't have an advantage over Tarkov being released for years and years, but I feel like they've pushed it out a little early to take advantage of BSG's blunder.

Give it a week, all of the streamers are going to realize that Gay Zone doesn't really have a proper gameplay loop yet, there's no epic loot to soyface about, and that PVP is extremely rare unless you're getting teamkilled by your own guys or trekking half the map over to maybe see an enemy player, and they'll flood back to tarky and pretend like everything is fine now. It's sad, but I guarantee you it's going to happen. You're going to start seeing "Well, playing the game isn't actually supporting Tarkov, I'm not spending any more on it" followed by "Well, I'm going to buy Unheard because this is my job, I have to" followed by "Stop talking about how shit BSG is in my chat, that was months ago"

When Eroktic got niggered half the streamers were saying that it's over, they're done, fucking DevilDogGamer said he was going to report BSG to his gun industry friends because they were illegally using their gear in Tarkov.
And then a week later everyone pretended that it didn't happen.
When the wiggle video came out, you also had a lot of people saying that it was over, and then then they came back.
They'll go away for another week, or maybe two when Tencent's Tarkov clone comes out, and then they'll go back as soon as that game postnatally aborts itself because Tencent.

BSG is gonna do Tarkov just like they did Contract Wars. I quit Tarkov a good 6+ months ago because this company takes one step forward and ten steps back every single year. Sometimes multiple times.

Honestly I hope they go back. I dabbled in Tarkov, and it was fun for what it was (if you ignored all the cheating and unfair bullshit). But the vocal "Tarkov refugees" that I've encountered in GZW are some of the most stupid, insufferable people I've ever met. They deserve to get scammed by Russians imo.
All the rest of you guys who aren't making your entire personality "I totally hate Tarkov now bro" and talking about it incessantly are fine though. Probably.

I still like Tarkov, I just don't like playing it as much anymore and GZW is a more casual and fun experience that I can chill out and loot stuff in. It doesn't have the depressing slavic shithole aesthetics or the interesting lore and backstory of Tarkov, but GZW is different enough from other stuff that it still feels interesting. I also really like the faction aspects of GZW, being able to casually ask for help or just hop on a helo to tag along on someone else's adventure is really cool and fun, which is something that Tarkov, in my opinion, never had which made the game feel ridiculously oppressive especially for a solo player like me. I wouldn't even really call myself a "Tarkov refugee" either, I played the game a lot in 2018-2019 but never really touched it much recently until the much needed recoil rework. The game just felt way too grindy and annoying and it made me tired even just thinking about playing it, it also doesn't help that I am shit at the game. But now I can kick back in GZW PvE that I didn't have to pay $250 for.

To be fair, if you're just a normal person having fun gaming, I don't want you to go back to Tarkov lol.
When I say "tarkov refugee", I'm talking about a very specific sort of person that I've seen in the GZW community ever since BSG shit the bed and made their $250 dlc snafu.
They've been "displaced" from EFT, and I think a lot of them still love that game, and don't even like GZW very much. But since "BSG bad" and GZW is the new hot extraction shooter, they're absolutely dead set on ruining anything and everything fun about it.
This might be the most autistic comparison/analogy I've ever made but I call them "refugees" because they've been "displaced", but also because it reminds me of the Syrian refugee crisis. Instead of trying to adopt their new culture, they just propagated the shitty culture that fucked their country up in the first place, and I see a lot of the Tarkov refugees doing the same shit. Making the dumbest suggestions and demands to the devs, and just being obnoxious fuckheads who won't shut up about how GZW isn't enough like EFT, while simultaneously criticizing EFT. They just seem like retards. If you get purposefully TK'd, chances are it's by one of these dumbasses.
I just... don't like them very much lol.
But yeah, I feel very similar to you. I think so far at least, I like GZW more than Tarkov. I don't know how long that feeling will remain, but so far I'm having a ton of fun.
I'm glad that it's more casual and I can run back and get my kit if I die. I like that it's set in Southeast Asia instead of grungy Eastern Europe. I really enjoy the fact that the world is open and persistent and I can just stumble on friendlies and team up or share info and that the quests feel like they push me to explore and familiarize myself with the map more (and they don't feel like stupid arbitrarily restrictive challenges). I like that the game doesn't feel super grindy and you can buy a good weapon and meds and all sorts of stuff from the tier 1 vendors right out of the gate. And I LOVE that it didn't cost me $250.

The analogy makes complete sense and has been used before for a lot of shit, like the Tumblr exodus to Twitter and as a result them shitting up the platform. I'd somewhat consider myself as a Tarkov refugee to an extent, where I had some slight interest in GZW until BSG completely shat the bed, which then basically made me turn my attention completely from Tarkov to GZW, but I'm also not a slav zigger that doesn't understand videogames or the concept of early access because of Tarkov being in """""early access""""" for almost a decade now. One thing I wish they would straight up steal from Tarkov is the UI controls though. Being able to rebind my drop keys and closing pop-up inspection tabs with escape would be really nice.
I have faith in Madfinger, for a first time PC game, it's actually pretty impressive and they seem to be very passionate about their game. Giving talks and being pretty straight forward with their dev streams, the CEO being defensive about his game but not being a complete fucktard like Nikita, it's a good change of pace.
