I don't know if this is true at all, but they're essentially Raiders with dogtags. It makes them really easy to deal with.
At some point they apparently were but BSG has made so many changes to the AI that it's hard to really say anymore. Not like it matters, PvE players deserve whatever boring dogshit AI they're farming. The only good thing PvE has done is forced BSG to improve their AI, which flows over in to PvP.

When I was playing PvE, I could only really do a handful of raids a day because I'm not a twitch streamer who does tarkov for a living, so I'm okay with mediocre enemies

i like a lot of the changes generally but the transits have gotta change man, 3 squads spawning on top of eachother on interchange kills out like 3/4 of the raid right away and makes the rest of the raid boring as hell

Used to happen to me a lot when I had a shit computer, it was the reason why I didn't play the game for awhile, loading in 5-8 minutes late into the raid made shit nearly impossible.
Tarkov had been like that since forever, I still remember times when you could play on 8GB RAM, now even 16GB RAM isn't cutting it. Streets of Tarkov are horribly unoptimized, lots of people struggling running them. You CANNOT play Tarkov without an SSD at least.

I tried PvE on my own and on paper it sounds nice however I can't help but think that they made PMC bots dogshit on purpose (because they're essentially scavs with better weapons) to make it boring and get people to be cannon fodder on PvP to streamer sweats or chinese cheaters.
the biggest map in the game used to be shoreline. lol. back then you could record yourself playing it with a quad core skylake cpu with 16gb and there were people playing the game on ddr3 laptops. nearly every map doubled in size and detail and they've added an absolute shitload of items and gear which all inflate the memory cost of running the game. they were very aggressive about upping the requirements for the game to unshackle themselves from the people still using fucking piledriver cpus but i think they might have over-adjusted.

i remember like 3-4 years ago i tried to play with a coworker who had just bought some god awful ibuypower prebuilt with a zen 3 cpu and his shit absolutely could not handle tarkov and i really think the only thing worse than that old skylake rig i was playing on at the time would have been a sata SSD instead of an m.2 ssd

This was a bug that previously got fixed. How it broke again, idk it's Tarkov
Yet one more problem solvable by PMC karma.
Literally how? Lmfao

Yet one more problem solvable by PMC karma.
It's a problem solvable by not spawning multiple players/squads right next to each other on the transit spawns, as those are fixed. PMC karma would do literally nothing to stop players from pushing their nearest spawn and face fucking whoever spawned nearest to them, especially in a """hardcore""" wipe where dying is even more punishing than usual. Spawns in general need a rework to stop this as every map suffers from too many spawn fights.

Giving the bare minimum incentive for players to not automatically shoot each other on sight.
Nigger you're retarded.
Scav karma exists, it doesn't give me a bare minimum incentive not to shoot another scav. PMC Karma will not improve the game in any meaningful way that won't make the main focus of the game, you know, the PVP, insufferable.

Partizan is supposed to be the start to that - and he's useless to curb any kind of unsportsmanlike PMC behavior. he's a pushover boss who can only really kill you because he has no footstep audio, or had. I believe they've since changed this when they changed Cultists and Birdeye to have quiet footsteps instead of nothing.

PMC Karma will literally in no capacity improve the game in a meaningful way, it won't even do an actual "bare minimum" to incentivize cooperation because I'd gain so much more from shooting another BEAR in the face if I see his gear and see it's better than mine this early in the wipe.

Is this game still worth playing? Bunch of my friends are trying to get me to play it but idk.
its always been a very fun game with friends but the two glaring problems with tarkov are 1) the game's developers do things so piecemeal that they frequently overlook large swaths of the game when they re-work large swaths of the game and 2) the game's has zero forgiveness when it comes to making the tiniest mistake. those two things frequently rub friction with one another as mechanics that have long-existed just randomly dissappear out of a lack of design consideration or they just straight up break them with glitches as they add new mechanics and items. it's probably more obnoxious to play if you've played it before because nothing is the same as you remember

it's a never-ending treadmill even worse than world of warcraft ever was but also the game wipes every six months so it all matters even less than world of warcraft does, just be mindful that the endgame fucking SUCKS

tl;dr yes if you have friends and or don't take it seriously and can take the good aspects with the bad aspects.

this is definitely one of the... wipes of all time.. to try to get into as your first, but perhaps the level of challenge it offers might grant a more rewarding feeling in your successes as a newer player.

the game is fun with friends, for sure. but as @big pauper said you definitely gotta take a lot of the bad with the good, like when they re-work shit and break it or ignore other huge glaring issues that either remain or exist elsewhere that should've been touched up first, and you will definitely get raped if you make mistakes especially in the current wipe because costs for things are higher, sell prices are lower, you can't stuff meds or ammo in your "secure" container [a box you have on your PMC character at all times that allows you to store items and keep them if you die in the raid, don't make it out in time, or extract too early before you gain enough xp/stay in raid long enough and get a "run-through"]

you also have to factor in the cheater issue. this game is infinitely better when you don't take it serious or get tilted at it, especially when you die to cheaters, because it will happen and unfortunately later in the wipe it'll happen a lot. right now is kind of the grace period because the patch just went live two days ago and usually it takes most cheats to be "secure" to use for their niggerfaggot players roughly in a week or two of wipe. not to say there aren't already ragehackers (i've died to one already lol) but its far, far less. Ban waves seem to be pretty rare these days right now but hopefully they'll be on top of it this wipe.

Only in PvE. PvP is for those who have 8 days in their weeks and 25 hours in their days.
If you have skilled friends who can can and will help you up the near-vertical learning curve that helps, too.

I have a friend that got Unheard because he just upgraded his PC and wanted to try it out with me. We loaded in to two different raids and he hasn't touched it after a scav shot him in the face between the gokart track IDEA entrance.

This was also right before they toned back the AI so it stops going for first shot headshots every time.

I think my biggest gripe with EFT after almost 2000h is just that it keeps getting more and more broken. Random server disconnects, random sounds, just entirely broken lighting system that makes your model disappear almost entirely in shadow/behind glass, and spawns that are objectively worse than others, and also that if you spawn late, in certain cases you just fucking die lol.
shit still sells so nobody has to give a fuck.
streamers are streamers, RMTers are acc rotating, gunbros are getting their digital porn.

all is well and no controversy can be made.

until they fuck up with security (again) or expose a function that crashes games/corrupts installation/RCE
