ETA: I went back to the clip and the baby's poop test results were pending at the time but Ethan decided the diagnosis. He decided that the baby had caught it from the dog and therefore must have "eaten" the poop (versus coming in contact with an otherwise clean surface).

I didn't see the episode in question, so IDK what was said. However, if his kids were being tested for giardia/it was suspected, that could have still resulted in a CPS report. For legal reasons, medical professionals nowadays will report parents for the tiniest of issues (& this even includes parents with religions that oppose certain medical practices, like JW's & vaccines that go in blood vessels. For legal reasons, medical professionals nowadays will report parents for the tiniest of issues (& this even includes parents with religions that oppose certain medical practices, like JW's & vaccines that go in blood vessels. Like, I think they're still allowed oral vaccines/nasal vaccines and intermuscular ones?)

I mean...a source for that would be cool but I'm not here for debate so don't fuss. Anecdotally someone can say they got CPS called on them "just" because of their belief system and their medical choices but the reality could be someone concerned about living conditions or they witnessed the parent handling the child aggressively, as you stated above.

The clip of the giardia discussion is on page 580. Ethan's trying to backtrack on what he said but the CPS call wasn't warranted and shouldn't have been made if someone was doing that based only on what they saw said about the "giardia" situation on Reddit or even from Ethan himself.

Giardia in humans is a reportable disease to your local public health agency. Giardia in multiple humans is absolutely a call to CPS. It's often a result of feces strewn homes.
