Fat Acceptance Movement / Fat Girlcows

The picture from the scale-smashing stunt is really fun photograph, I will give them that. I love how this thread goes from the unapologetic consoomers to the wannabe activists.

The poster info is already out of date, though. This is the age of the GLP-1. People are chemically fixing their destroyed metabolisms, and they’re losing the weight and keeping it off. The fat acceptance movement has not reckoned with this new reality at all.

I do like her description of the bewildered clinician, though

i love her bewilderment that they threatend to call the cops on her, as if smashing scales with hammers in public is normal and non agressive behavior.

side note after going through this blog and the fat liberation tag more, ive noticed a shift from "dont treat us like a fetish" to people now saying fat fetishists are integral to the "movement". almost like fat fetishists started the entire movement...

Like a fitness-oriented rage room?
Yeah!
The just miss the point so badly. Nobody should be shamed for things they can’t help, your height, a scar, Injuries post surgery. or defects, not being perfect, postnatal shape changes, ageing, etc. But being so huge is self inflicted and it’s terrible for you. If you rewrite what she’s saying with drug addiction instead of excess weight it’d sound insane.
It’s amazing that these drugs are allowing people who want to lose weight to regain their health and live longer lives and frankly I think they should be allowed to get a few nips and tucks after if that helps them to be more mobile and feel better too. It’s still a huge achievement to lose 100lb even on a glp1. You have to work at it, and commit.
They take what is in its core a good idea (be kind to yourself, don’t worry about things you can’t change) and twist it into an excuse for excess and damaging the self. YES there is a lot of crazy shot marketed to women especially over beauty and a lot of it is worth mocking because it’s crazy, but health is important.
