I came back to FF14 during the pandemic, after not having played for about 4 years. Didn't have an FC and none of my friends seemed to play anymore, so I joined a social/event discord for my DC that was advertising in PF. I hadn't played since Heavensward, was never very social in game, thought ERP was something that only existed in things like the Deeprun Tram meme or Ralph Pootawn Second Life nonsense, and I expected "events" to be like treasure maps and stuff. Nah it was all brothel advertisements with the occasional fortune teller getting ignored. It was fun to lurk for a while in a trainwreck sort of way. There was an RP section that had basically a 'classifieds' subchannel, where people would post their RP char and what they were looking for. An overwhelming amount of them were "Gender: Futa, Seeking: ERP partner". Seeing the futas match each other, and then aligning the profiles with their posts in the 'selfies' channel resulted in an almost 100% accurate example of the neckbeard "OwO what's this?" meme.


Funniest shit though was when I joined a hypersweaty PF for whatever new EX trial was hot at the time (Ruby Weapon?). Group was lead by 3 members of one of the top FCs in the DC. All the pick up members from PF (myself included) were held to ridiculously high uptime/DPS standards. Leader was a PLD that was an absolute dick, barked orders the entire time over VC with everyone else muted, and probably kicked 10+ people while I was there. I got my lizard on the first run, but I stuck around for about a dozen or so more runs before I called it a night, because unless you're pushing hard enough to skip mechanics, who gives a fuck? Do people legit try to pink parse EXs?


Anyways, the next morning I went to lurk the social discord again, and saw that the super sweaty Au'ra paladin from Ruby EX the night before had posted a half dozen screenshots in the NSFW general channel. What were they screenshots of? A hypermodded ERP session with his Lalafell dominatrix (which selfies showed was a, obviously, middle aged fat man).

Usually people have hidden achievements for their alts. Generally if someone has no logs at all or a suspiciously high parse on their very first run of a Savage or Ultimate, they're piloted clears.
If someone has a privated lodestone profile, they're almost definitely using cheat plugins.

I do remember a particularly funny gag character that happened at an event where somebody dressed as Todd Howard and started giving away copies of an in game book called oblivion

Tangentially related because your story brings the thought to mind (not to mention recent things I ended up seeing unexpectedly), it never ceases to astound me how whenever I see fresh blood pop up in those spaces for "RP" purposes and they start considering maybe going the "lewd" route, whenever they finally take that leap, they just go full bore into hypersexualization and almost overnight base their entire identity and presence around porn.

I've officially witnessed it happening with such consistency in XIV circles specifically that I am now confident there's some kind of pipeline that can be established there.

And, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be some kind of puritan about the whole thing. We all enjoy what we enjoy. But there's something questionable inherent to the matter when a matter of curiosity immediately jumps to a full blown rebranding of identity to revolve entirely around hypersexuality once a single concession or exploration is taken.

I hate the community of this game. I've been playing for years and one way or another youre forced to interact with retards if you wanna get into content that isn't braindead. My friends don't wanna raid with me because the people in this game scared them off by being one of the most sexually deviants communities. It pales in comparison to wow's furry erp scene.

One time we had to invite a random guy to our raiding group, who decided to join our voice chat. When he joined he sounded like a 45 year old 500lbs tranny. Can you guess what their discord profile looked like? A semi naked modded Au'ra with his in-game name as the discord nickname. The sad part is that i have more stories like this, even when i actively avoid talking to people.
My main appeal was always the story and the raids. Dawntrail story is very very predictable and boring. Wuk Lamat is trash and i wish i played in another language so i didnt have to listen to the english VA. The only good thing about it is the raids currently

Aether is completely congested, so much so that even Data Center travels to and from can be like pulling teeth depending on the time of day. From what I've been told in the last month, Primal's and some of Dynamis' (minimal) raiders all decided to migrate to Aether at once.

While looking up something completely unrelated in the Puni.sh discord, I found a video of someone clearing M1S "with the aoes visible".

The youtube account that the video has been posted to also has videos of M2S, M3S, M4S, Everkeep EX, and Worqor Lor Dor EX with visible telegraphs on every AoE attack.
If you're a sprout who hasn't stepped foot into High-End content before, you wouldn't see the issue with these videos because every single aoe you've seen before has been telegraphed, and these videos are showing the exact same orange circle telegraphs that you've seen for every AoE so far. The "Mouser" move is a bit weird with that red at the end though.

Jukka and Kawaii think that it's MMOMinion, but from what I've seen watching someone use it (and being unable to find said video in both Moogle Telegraphs and Argus's developers' discords), I don't think that's the case.

I think a server to avoid in Aether if you want to go there for raiding would be Faerie because it’s notoriously full of trannies and it’s very woke friendly. Faerie sounds like a girly name that would attract trannies as well so…

Lol I'm going to PL for a second just because I think the story is funny and serves as a decent enough cautionary tale.

So like I said in my last post, I'd come back to FFXIV in the middle of pandemic lockdowns. FFXIV activity was the highest I've ever seen it, and I'm a legacy player. Since there really wasn't fuck all else to do besides drink alcohol and play video games during lockdown, I spent (surprise) the majority of those couple weeks drunk and on FFXIV. Someone in a social LS I was in was advertising a new RP FC and offering "RP lessons" (like legit RP, not ERP), and that they'd help craft your character's backstory. I'd never RP'ed before but I said fuck it, I'm in.

Met her in Limsa (bad idea, nothing good ever happens in Limsa). The backdrop of the campaign was something like "Eorzean Private Detective Agency" or some shit. I was immediately put off by how hammy all of it was. I told her I wanted to be a borderline alcoholic Roegadyn dockworker that really didn't give a fuck about any of this adventuring nonsense and was "too old for this shit". She got pissy and said I needed to take it seriously (I mean I was kinda, I really didn't give a fuck and I was indeed too old for it). About that time, she invited 3 other people to the party and told us she was taking us to an RP venue so we could practice talking "in character".

She sat us each in pairs at tables and told us to introduce ourselves to each other. I can't remember shit the girl I got sat with said, I was drinking bourbon straight from the bottle at this point. The only part of the conversation I remember was her saying some medieval accent nonsense. I'm going to paraphrase from (alcohol laden) memory.

"So Sir Norstein, what is it that thou pursuest in thine life?"

"Excuse me, what?"

"How dost thou earn thine living?"

"I work at the docks."

At this point, party organizer sends me a tell in quotes or parentheses or whatever the fuck signifies that they've broke character. "Dude I told you not to say that!" (too late bitch)

"Ah the docks, a noble profession indeed. Dost thou enjoy it?"

"Nah it fucking sucks."

Party organizer tells me to stay in character or I'll be booted. But adds in, "dude she's still here, I think she's into you. You should flirt with her."

Aight. So, here's where the bourbon supplants any rational thought or memory.

I woke up the next morning (IRL) still logged into the game, with a half naked Au'Ra in my (virtual) bed. I moved my character, and immediately get a whisper, "Oh, my lord is awake!"

I still really haven't woken up, I'm still half drunk, I have no clue what happened the night before, but if she's in my house (which was locked), I had to have let her in, so I say something along the lines of "uh yeah, morning." Apparently I added her on discord throughout the night, and it's some Puerto Rican chola looking broad. I pretend to know wtf happened, and make an excuse to log out. I blocked her on discord and in-game.

This bitch camped my porch for the next fuckin 6 days. Every fuckin time I logged in, her char was AFK in one of my patio chairs. Everything they told you in D.A.R.E. was true. RP, not even once.

I love this game, I have been playing since the middle of Heavensward and while it is riddled with so much shit game design, I enjoy the story. I enjoy being able to hang with a couple of irl friends for roulettes now and then. I sort of like the solo MMO aspect of it, and I long ago learned not to engage in the community since I was originally a wow refugee.

I think Xeems said it best when he said that other games people are toxic in your face and that is preferable to how everyone in the FFXIV community is a snake in the grass, being toxic behind the scenes. Toxic positivity fucking blows. The only thing I miss about WoW these days is that I would rather be called a faggot and to kill myself and kicked from a raid then to be talked about behind my back by ugly trannies trying to maneuver their way socially around to get me expelled from a group or some shit and ruin my reputation.

Obviously I don't engage with anyone I even get the slightest whiff of being a gooning retard. But I can tell who the based people are.


Every once in a while my male viera gets whispers and I'll see the trans shit in someone's adventurer plate, or some other group identifier and I happily tell them to fuck off. Never been so much as warned in all my years of playing.

I do not know what plugin they are using to do this, but it looks to be one of the in-game recordings, unless mod menus have started using native UI elements. Maybe that is how they are showing all of the AoE markers because they have all of the information available to them and can use that to draw the information? I am aware of things like Splatoon that draw non-standard markers and shit though, I have never seen it done in a replay/recorded clear is all.

A Realm Recorded (Which should just increase the number of slots to infinity rather than allow you to ACTUALLY USE THE DAMN THING but SE is retarded). It's on the main repo. Highly recommend it if you do high-end content.

Ah, I did know that A Realm Recorded was something to do with the recording functionality. I remember seeing in all of the (major?) patch notes that 'previous recordings will no longer work' line a few times though. I just assumed that during the recording the skill IDs that things like ACT+Cactbot pick up on could also be utilised to draw 'generic' skill markers, perhaps from their equivalent in normal mode?
I have tinkered with creating plugins and made a custom sound filtering one to silence <se.#> spam only during PvP but actually rendering shit on the ground I never fucked around with. I remember laughing at that clip from TOP where it was zoomed out to the stratosphere and there were blue cleaves/green circles or some shit and they still wiped.

I won't forgive you for this!" but the line you read in text is "DOTH HAVETH SAVED THY QUEEN IN THY ETHD DAETH KOGHTH?! NAY, THY HEAD SHALT SPILL IN THY SINS" or some stupid shit
