I think it was some beach Mare meetup that happened recently, where like hundreds of modbeasts showed up to party. There was a clip of one of them who was enlarged to gigantic size and other players were bouncing off her boobs. There was apparently so many of them that it actually broke Mare and the dev behind it had to put out a statement telling them to chill the fuck out. This is what this game's community has become.

I think the beach meetup was organized by someone who doesn’t use Mare and they got harassed by Mare users on social media because of the program breaking and getting mad at the organizer for not accommodating them. Unless there were more beach parties I’m not aware of that were run by Mare users.

The only way I could see this happening is if someone found an exploit where FF14 is asked to load a set of malformed textures or models sent over Mare, which would then cause the game to store junk in memory, possibly causing a buffer overflow and letting us run custom code. I do not know if FF14 or Mare has any safeguards that would prevent this kind of attack, and even if they don't, I think the most likely outcome would just be a game crash. Not to say that having a game-crashing model wouldn't be disruptive, but you'd probably get to annoy a few people before the linkshell owner removes you or everyone else pauses you. You could also try to disturb people with a giant goatse skin, but you know most Mare users would enjoy it.

I remember Team Fortress 2 having an "exploit" where you could use sprays (custom images) with malicious code inside of them. Nobody could figure out how to actually get the game to run code from inside a .vtf, so the only thing a griefer could do with this was cause others to get a Windows Defender alert over a suspicious download. I'm assuming that you can do the same thing with Mare and hit people with the antivirus jumpscare, but actually getting them to execute malware from a model or texture is going to be the tricky part.

Found this youtube channel in my recommendeds. Thought it was some Trancer, but it's somebody basically taking the piss out of the current state of the game. Their most viewed video is calling out Kate on her recent Bluesky rant. Seems they've been taking regular criticisms from 4chan, the OF forums, reddit (and possibly here) and making videos out of them regurgitating all of our talking points. Impossible to tell the channel owner's gender as they're using an AI female voice.

Unrelated to the modbeasts, I've canceled my subscription today. Though the rampant degeneracy and troon-infested community was one of the reasons. There's really just nothing fun in this game anymore. Story is a shit, towns are polluted with gooners, PF is filled with mongoloids, every static has at least one tranny in it... it's all so tiresome. Good luck to all you who decide to continue on in that doomed world o7

How to fix FFXIV:
1. Make the next story Wuk roping xirself.

2.Get rid of standardization and make jobs unique again.

3. Make a thirty minute cutscene where the WoL can cuck Alphinaud with his sister.

4. Put in the WoW style transmog system already. No one likes glamor space. This alone would add a billion hours to the game.

5. Increase triple triad card drop rate for wins.

6. Add more housing.

7. Better villains like in shadowbringers. Less homosexual villains (dawn trail).

8. Make relics actually great again and long epic quests instead of grinding the same mobs over and over.

9. Unironically, add back elemental resistances.

10. Ban everyone who types the phrase “trans rights”

Everytime I consider resubbing to see if there's anything new worth playing, I then think of the dogshit gooner/tranny communities populating this game, the mouthbreather regulars in PF and actual insane staff members like Dangerhair Kate that I'm thankful I get to save that sub money for a nice treat instead.

I know there are valid criticisms of his writing but at least Zenos was fucking fun on screen. Zoraal Ja isn't even really a character. Calyx is duller than shit. The villain deficiency in DT is almost as egregious as the Wuk fuckery in my book.

FFXIV really needs to look at the formula they're using and really re-evaluate if it's still going to work moving forward (it won't).

Trying to jam in 2 or 3 jobs per expansion was fine when there were still some jobs/niches to explore, but with the removal of Job Quests there's virtually no point in having a 5th tank, 5th healer, 7th melee dps, etc. They aren't differentiated by mechanics generally, they aren't differentiated by abilities, and they're barely differentiated by lore. It's basically just picking a weapon you think looks cool or for a small set of abilities (like Holy or Bloodwhetting). Through leveling classes recently, but WHM feels a lot better than SGE lore wise because you only really get 10 levels as SGE compared to the ~50 you get as WHM. I get why they did it for Shadowbringers and why they do it now (because it's easy) but it's something they direly need to revisit.

Artifact Armor/weapons need a revisit also, tied into the job quest issue you're basically just unceremoniously given a pile of AF gear at level X9 now - which I'm surprised they even still do (and not just have Role Armor) but having the slightest pomp and circumstance around it would be nice. I'm not saying it has to be BRD/PLD levels of tedious - but maybe have it be better integrated into the game? Maybe even upgraded/augmented versions as the expansion goes on instead of it just being a miniscule speed bump that gets discarded near-instantly.

Leveling also needs a revisit - way too many skills awkward backloaded and changed through expansions. By level 50 would ideally have your whole "kit" even if other higher levels add on it/change it. Level ~32 dungeons and such don't have to be difficult, but everyone should have AOE by then.

I have no idea what job would get into FFXIV next but currently I'm not excited for it because it'll likely just be bland garbage barely discernable from its peers. It's weird to think they need a Cataclysm style patch but it's looking that way.
