its pretty fucking good imo. Loads of 'arcs' to witness and believeable character behavior.

I just started season 2 and lets just say 'the newcomers' piss me the fuck off. like holy shit how can you be so dumb but at the same time the show is showing various reactions to primal fear.

I have zero faith that they can wrap up all the mysteries in a satisfying way but so far it's been an entertaining show.

Some of the characters irritate me (particularly Fatima) and it also gets annoying when characters don't believe other characters about weird happenings while living in a town they can't escape from that has monsters that come out at night to eat them.

also, the lesbian relationship feels weirdly mismatched -- the actress playing Kristi looks like she's in her mid twenties while her girlfriend looks like she's approaching middle age. I remember The 100 had something similar.

Oh I agree some of that 'no way is that possible' becomes frustrating like motherfucker how much have you seen that hasnt been possible?

But then there are the times you have to sit back and realize you've seen "more" and that character hasn't seen as much so it may not be as prominent a thing.

I'm not gonna be too optimistic but I like what I see.

After seeing the latest episode i feel like theres a few places they could take this and push into 4 season territory. There's plenty of...for lack of better terms 'Dark Souls' esque lore they can pull from the first couple episodes that really make the show's mystery feel big.

I can also see potential for 'follow up' series that capitalize on the IP so we get conclusive stories and not just open ended bullshit

The show creators are clearly big fans of Stephen King. First season was solid and now they have to find a way to pull back the curtain without loosing the constant sense of dread. So far the second season seems to be doing quite with world building, lots of different intersecting story lines going. Hopefully it isn't all discarded at the end of the season or turned into a convoluted knot that will ultimately result in some excuse of time bending and plot holes. Wonder if the writers strike will have any effect on a 3rd season?

Only reason to watch this is the ongoing Mother-Daughter cleavage competition. Rest of the show is just weird shit after weird shit, made up on the fly with no underlying reason to it, just like Lost but with a lower budget.

I liked season 1, but so far a lot of season 2 seems....too slow? I'm not sure, but there's both too much happening but also not enough in a sense. The first couple of episodes were high tension and fear and survival and now, they're just kind of plodding along for me, throwing more weird mysteries instead of actually trying to solve any. I fear it may burn itself out if it keeps going at this pace.

I hope Smiley is coming back, he's the best monster for obvious reason and had some great lines: 'You picked a bad spot". That whole bus scene was amazing with him pretending to drive it.

I'll echo that it is very silly when people act in disbelief that magic things happen in a place where magic things are always happening. They also don't like sharing personal magical experiences with each other, but that's actually understandable since they generally want to live a normal life and the weird things can only spell further doom.

Episode 9 just dropped. Pretty good but also the scene with Kenny/Sara drags so long.

They also put more to the music box and tie a bunch of odd ends together but nothing resolves yet. You can tell the townspeople understand 'Hey these fuckers just walk' and they definitely are more comfortable with just running away.

Sorry to necro this thread but I’ve just started watching the show. Does anyone have any theories as to what the place is? The last episode had a few interesting lines that stood out like the place feeds off of their suffering, reminds me of the Archons and loosh theory from Gnostic scripture. The place is obviously supernatural and has elements of spirituality and the show has a deep religious undertone to it. I’ve read a few theories saying it’s a government experiment but that just seems like the most boring materialist perspective possible. Especially since the creator of the show made Lost and wasn’t that set in purgatory?

Watched the first episode, feels like it's trying too hard to the next Lost, Severance or Wayward Pines. It's throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.

Season 1 spoilers
I've got one episode left in season 1 and I really like it so far. The only negative thing I have to say about it is I found the scene where the priest explained his backstory to be very melodramatic. By the time he yelled "a fucking CANDY BAR" and threw it against the wall, I was struggling not to laugh. Even his death scene felt a little silly.
