the merchandise really stretches out the time frame. that sort of stuff doesn't just magically appear overnight and was probably workshopped for a few months ahead of this. especially since it's being revealed not just with like a piece of concept art for some made-to-order products, but rather she has a full set of samples to show off. And all of this merch has her design and branding on it, which means that even before starting merch planning however many months ago, her design and stuff were already hammered out, which is another process that doesn't just happen overnight especially since the design came from Nachoneko.

Nimi did the same thing. As the audience, we only know when they announce it officially. After it's announced though you often hear from other people that they knew for months. So this was clearly in the works for a good deal of time the same way Nimi was. I forget if Dooby had merch day 1 but she definitely had pretty much everything else set up. Nimi was only "behind" in that she was working with with the smaller model she had for a while.

Tbh as someone who has no interest in VTubers, I always thought Gawr Gura had the least annoying voice. Still had a bit of the cringy anime voice but sounded normal enough that if I had to pick one to listen to she's the least unbearable. Her new model looks really expressive which I like since that was also another turnoff for me about VTubers is they all look like sock puppets.

However the whole jailbait catfish look and the entire chat spamming 😭 makes me extremely uncomfortable.

The autistic part of me just wants to point out that the whole "Idol fans crying while waving light sticks" thing is a trope separate from the Uooh, but i mean, yeah that was probably intentional too.

The CCV went down by 20k-30k the moment that was flashed. However ~150k are still there, so I guess "it is what it is."

Ignoring the loli bait I do get a chuckle out of how this model already has the cat ears. That was the first model update request for Gura she had and the fact it's carrying over shows she really loves the aesthetic, but understands everyone does it so must visually balance it out with something else.
