General GunTuber thread

'Tisming some. Interchanging loaded 7.62mm and 7.63mm indeed is very ill advised (in spite of some people foolishly insisting the contrary, and that's before you even get into the whole 'subgun load' question), I've however seen people talk about using 7.62mm Tokarev casings for reloading as 7.63mm Mauser. You could maybe try out if you're struggling to find 7.63mm and you either have or find a box of some brass cased 7.62mm loads of the former (or you're desperate enough to want to trim and reload Berdan primed steelcase).
Your gun may or may not quite like it though, if you ask people who have tried this, it works well for some, but for others the pistol doesn't want to cycle properly.

If you look at 7.62mm Tokarev and 7.63mm Mauser and just set aside the rough average 400fps difference in velocity, they're very dimensionally similar, but they're not identical. The shape and size of the extractor groove is the most obvious difference at a glance, but the shape and height of the shoulder is subtly different, and the neck is a hair longer on the Mauser case, these details will make differences when feeding in each other's gun.
This is not something I've tried, so my gut feeling is that variability in manufacturing tolerances and wear in individual guns might make the difference over if they'll cycle properly or not.

Isn't it great? Makes me lol.

EDIT: I had forgotten how retarded Arfcom was.
If you ever want to feel squeamish, take a look at the C96's bolt stop and imagine firing Tokarev ammo with one.

This little guy and a recoil spring are all that stands in between your face and that beefy bolt assembly as it flies backwards.

The lugs on the locking block will fail before the bolt stop does, so I wouldn't be too afraid of any Sin City reenactments. These are however antique guns which are about 80 years old at their youngest, often a lot older, so add maybe less good metallurgy together with many of these guns having been used pretty hard, and I'm not too confident in abusing them.

You can find some people saying they've shot lots of 7.62mm Tokarev in them, but going by that to me that feels like running smokeless powder in a random old damascus barrel shotgun because there exists some hypothetical margin where I won't go blind for life from attempting it. Knowing that people have in fact busted up locking blocks and outright exploded Broomhandle pistols with 7.62mm Tokarev ammunition convinces me that I'm not gonna gamble and live on the edge to enjoy an antique (which has a history I'll probably never known a fraction of), just because some boomer said "Trust me, bro."

Since I don't give a fuck about Karl, figure I'll change the conversation to something new that just came out:

Newest Administrative Results video, with a Vietnam theme and "Bad Moon Rising" music video intro (don't know if it's the CCR version or a cover). Video has a new insert clip for sponsorship and showing that Admin still hasn't invested money into buying a proper microphone.

Those old "red dots" that are literally just a piece of fiber optics in a tube with no actual lens are still the absolute wildest shit to me.

This is the oldest one I have.
It is a weaver Qwik Point, It has one of those old rimfire/airgun dovetail mounts.
And yes, far as I can tell it's just a bit of fiber optic in an aluminum housing.
First time I saw it I thought it was some kind of sex toy.
This one you can actually see through though, the one in the video is OEG style.

I'm sure a lot of you all have heard about measure 114 in Oregon and I do wonder how much of a shit show that is going to be. I imagine a lot of even far left types are pissed about this, though I'm kinda surprised I haven't even seen lefty twittertards in the gun-sphere or people like Karl make any reaction to this topic.

You get what you vote for. I'm sick of worrying about what new bullshit the left coast votes for, way more concerned with my local political situation. If people want to change things there, get serious with getting out there and being activist for your causes, fedpost IRL, or leave.

I agree 100%, those retards voted for that shit, not much sympathy from me. I've noticed more far left types have become more gung ho and vocal about their 2A rights and this some how isn't on their radar, and a lot of them live in Portland. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised since it seems to be that most of them just virtue signal instead of actually participating in their local politics (which is more important than people seem to realize). I don't live there but it does set a bad precedent for other states.

I bought one of those years ago because I just like obsolete tech and they work pretty well...when you have enough ambient light. Completely useless for night shooting and some of the more dim indoor ranges. Great outdoors during the daytime though.

I had it on an airgun for a while, It was pretty accurate for what it was.

Same, got one of those because it looks cool and I like obsolete shit like that. Now it sits in a box and waits for me to find something period-appropriate to put it on. If only I could get a Calico SMG...
