I remember exploring onion sites as a kid and being amazed at what people were selling - explosives, machine guns shipped in PVC pipes, assassinations, hacking services, etc. Of course almost every single one of these things was a straight up scam, but I sure believed it all at 15.

Isn't it a combo unit with a brass deflector and forward assist? I see those parts kits on their website. Makes me wonder if the FA is the reason, not the deflector. Barrel is supposed to last several thousands of rounds, receiver is supposed to outlive several barrels.
Who's the market for this? Most LEOs if not using a personal rifle are already issued a patrol carbine, and most enthusiasts who know what they're doing will go with a 10.5 inch if they're not already suppressing a 16 inch.
12.5 is one if the favorite barrel lengths of the instagram crowd. Long enough that they can put an lpvo on and call it 'mini-recce' and short enough that a full size can won't lengthen it to m16 territory with a k can only puts into 16" rifle territory. Supposedly there's problems with mid-length gas systems on 12.5s so this is probably trying to find a middle ground between that and carbine.

In all fairness, 12.5" is a comfortable carbine length, one you'd see on old CAR15s and what not.
