I've been wondering the same thing for as long as I've known about Tumblr. I don't know what it is about TF2 that draws them like autists to sonic the hedgehog. Maybe it's because it has a cast of fun diverse cartoonish characters that they can project their gender special bullshit on.

It's that and it's "memetic" qualities. It's like Portal. The Cake is a Lie. Cave Johnson. Lemons!, then you got Hats, Gaben, boolets, anything related to the Spy in any way, the comic book, all those pony mods, all of Valve's gay ass events, etc.

Valve is very good at giving games a stickiness quality that helps you remember them. It's why HL was so popular. All of their games have that. The only game that really doesn't is L4D2, and that's because one of their characters is there to have a black woman in the cast instead of having a character that actually jives well with the others.
