I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get Half-Life 2 for only $0.00 on Steam the day before the sale was about to end. It’s a great game, even though I already have it on the original XBOX and on that one, I’m a into the game.

So I guess after the recent interview with Gabe we can just assume Half-Life is fucking dead?
At least we finally got closure on why we're probably never going to see Half-Life 3. It makes me sad to find out Gabe has gone full Miyamoto and basically doesn't care about the story. If there's no shitty gimmick we can force into the game then it's not happening.

Man. Ah who the fuck am I kidding? I knew Half-Life 3 was never coming years ago. I guess I'm just surprised we finally have a clear answer on what happened.

Nah just that, Ep3 is dead.

I think Valve being more open explaining what happened with Episode 3 and that Valve has more money than God at this point makes me optimistic that Half-Life 3 will happen, but I think it’ll be a legit “next gen” game. Btw if you can get a cheap VR Rig Alyx is definitely worth playing.

Anyway I came here to theory speculate, Breen was a secret good guy and the proof is that he didn’t keep the supercharged Gravity Gun that is Half-Life’s ultimate Macguffin. Had he been actually evil he would have just killed Gordon and everyone else in Half-Life 2. He also clearly knew the G-Man.

Wow, did you make that theory all by yourself by just playing the game? Or did epistle 3 spilling it out for all the valve playtester retards made it finally click

I personally saw them coming clean with all their Half-Life post-Ep2 development to be them wanting to get that stuff of their backs so they can move on; as to not leave any doubts on what was so they can focus on what will be.

So I guess I just completely misinterpreted his spiel about needing some kind of technological gimmick to push the series forward then?
Half Life 3 is still dead. But more side stories? Prequels? Portal? There is still some blood left to drain from the franchise. Don't be surprised at a Half Life movie or streaming series being announced within a year or two. JJ Abrams was once working on both a Half Life and Portal movie and even did a live event with Gabe Newell detailing some ideas for the movies. And Warner Brothers has had people pitch some ideas for both series being made into films recently.

I only remember that Epistle 3 ends with G-Man kidnapping Alyx, Mossman dying, and Gordon deus ex machina’d out by the Vortigaunts. Doesn’t Breen just turn into a space slug or something?

I just came to that conclusion because I finished Half-Life 2 again last night and Breen would be way too stupid to not keep the gravity gun if he didn’t want to be foiled.

It does make you think (and worry)

Yeah, he did and he hated this existence. He asks Gordon and Alyx to put him out of his misery, with the latter saying he deserves this and then walking away, however they leave it ambiguious if Gordon didnt ultimately find it within himself to go through with it.

I want to go back to my last post and again reiterate how good the Minerva mod is for Half-Life 2.

It will take you about five hours to complete. Combat is rewarding and the level design is some of the best you will see in the industry and that is not an overstatement. The designer was able to squeeze every last drop out of the maps he built and you will be amazed at how much can be done with the same locales.

Do yourself a favor and try Minerva out. It is an excellent supplement or side story to the Half-Life universe that fits in perfectly.

I think he's talking retrospectively that at the time, Half-Life couldn't go forward for that reason.

It's not like he's going to say "but we're working on something now that fits the bill now!" if that's true.

Gray Newell looks like a giant dork like his Dad. Let's be real auto racing is one of the most autistic normie hobbies.

Why would he fuck up a moneyprinter like Steam and Valve? All they have to do is keep Steam better than the competition which they have. Only thing that puts up any fight with Steam is Gog and third party publishers will never fully embrace Gog for its anti-DRM policy.
