I'll give the Half Life community this. They've more or less accepted that any third entry for a Valve IP is a pipe dream. Way more well behaved than the GTA community with GTA6.

Been seeing chatter about how valve is spreading misinformation among it's employees to catch leakers. If you're a valve employee and you're leaking shit, I hope you get turbo fired. I hope you get blacklisted. There's absolutely nothing legitimate to be gained by anyone to leak video game announcements, especially for stuff that's going to be imminently happen anyways. Like Jason Schreier teasing about his weirdo insider scoopz, like the silly statue at The Game Awards. No one cares, just let the marketing happen. "Game journalism" isn't real, and this is just spoiling children's slop entertainment for fleeting clicks while being mildly disrespectful to the devs and their plans.

Like seriously, Valve is such a cake dream retirement home for gamedevs. To fuck that up for some fleeting sperg klout on xitter, awful. Unimaginable.

Valve's external communication mechanism for over a decade has been leaks. What the fuck did they expect?

For all we know the leaks are intentional, just to drum up anticipation for the game.

He's talking about the releasedate leaks that some of the journos have been talking about being canarytraps, not the datamines. Different types of things.

Though yeah, it is certainly possible for the information left in Source 2 updates about HLX to be in some regard intentional, or at the very least, left intentionally. Would make sense to drum up hype around fans who pay attention.

i have a distant fear about the valve big releval in the video games award just an official announcement of the Deadlock game...

That would be the biggest blue ball in gaming history....

That would be horrible, but I don't see Valve doing any reveals at big events like TGA, except for maybe a HL3, due to the legendary status of that game. Also everybody knows about Deadlock, no real reason to have a reveal other than making it publicly available on Steam.

I think Valve has since learned from the huge mistake that was the Artifact reveal. They wouldn't do that again.

Probably.

Remember when Tyler got drunk and streamed a September 2019 beta build of Half-Life Alyx?

I was told on good authority that Valve looks at Tyler the same way Michael Snyder looks at Chris

Apparently he was contacted by Valve legal the second he stopped streaming and was forced to wipe the build from his drive + the vod. Pretty funny if true as he actually got under their skin enough to get a legal response.

I find it fascinating when Valve employees give their rare opinions on McNigger and his work or specific instances where they actually call him out for being a nuisance. Despite his soy-ish demeanor I do watch his videos and am generally in favor of leaks, as it is interesting to see behind the curtain in a company as opaque as Valve.

His reaction to HL-Alyx will always be funny.

Same with this reaction where a random guy literally cries after seeing the HLA ending.

Isnt the whole "human beings fucking up when they have it absolutely amazing" shebang kind of biblical at this point? We just dont seem to know when to accept a good thing for what it is.

I heard they actually sent their legal team to his house though I doubt he truly wiped it, even if they made him let them watch. He additionally said that there are other people with the build so there is a chance we may see it leak, albeit likely years after Source 2 becomes obsolete.
