Until they get clogged with random shit, and suddenly your gutters don't do their job and you have water fucking everywhere you don't want it.
It depends on your environment, in Texas we get crape and myrtle. The buds from it turn into a shitty paste when wet and will clog your gutter guards. I will agree that they can suck but it just depends. Same if you are in a place with a lot of sand, shit will turn into a paste and clog.
Then you have the fun task of cleaning the guards, which is way fucking harder than just grabbing a hose and spraying out your gutters once or twice a month.
Really just depends. I put them on rentals and part of my house. Not advice for ever single state.
You could install it in an afternoon by yourself. Just cut the drywall to the new size, take the ladder off the frame, put an extra 2by on the outside of the rafters your screwing into and use good 3" to 3-1/2" screws, the reattach the ladder and door to the frame.
If its just stick frame joists for the loft then ya it is that easy.
Don't know if its a loft in a house or one in a garage. I am a bit of a cunt when I do an property inspection so make sure the ladder has a 6 ft clearance.
If its a loft in a garage, you technically have to have a fire-barrier one.

I had to dig out and put in an egress window plus ladder for a basement apartment. I hope you never inspect my project, it's all good, but you sound like a hard ass.

Don't forget drainage and sill height for the interior. :)

And yes and no, I'm not an utter hard ass. I do construction, I understand short cuts and why they are made, I've done a few myself. I know for example I fucked up the stairs in my house. They look nice but tread nose is inconsistent by more than a quarter of an inch, which I know exceeds code requirements, and that's because tread depths are different, because the original owner of the house was a HGTV retard.

I know and accept that someone will give me shit for it. The only thing that makes me very pissed and where I will start to rip apart a place is if its a clear safety thing. Its always a slum landlord too. Like I walk into a rented house/condo and I can hear the smoke alarm chirping from the front door. Or a Indian replacing the only single-hung window in a kids bedroom with a picture window, cause it was no doubt cheaper.
