Never ever let Neil Bloomkamp write a script.
Never let that boer shithead near anything, he has the reverse midas touch.
The fact that they have to use clips of different media to fulfill their vision of the game, instead of you know, ACTUALLY CREATING IT THEMSELVES is proof that imagination in the 2020s entertainment industry is dead.
Its like when archeologists start digging around and find these levels in ancient cities where for 100 years nobody wrote anything new, nobody made a new type of bowl or vase, nobody painted new frescoes or did anything new, they just kept using or recreating old shit because their culture was dying.

We're entering one of those dark ages.
Archived for you, m'lady:
RedlpIrJOPmY.mp4

I know shitting on your average Soyjak redditor is like beating a dead horse nowadays, but the whole video is a very wet dream from one of those Coomsumers. Not even exaggerating or being nitpicky, the story is all about dying and killing to get the nostalgia product and fighting the typical boogeyman villain that mainstream movies and cartoons love to use. Say what you want about this marketing fiasco, but at least they had a targeted audience on mind.
Thanks for archiving it, bitchute cucked out and I couldn't stand the retarded "commentary" from that volound guy anymore, all that was missing was the cartoon guy with crossed arms to complete the picture.

Back to the video, if I had to condense how I feel about this game now its something like this:
1698699557915.png

How? how could anyone watch this shit and think it was a good idea? were they on coke mixed with fent? Everything in that video its concentrated cringe, beyond cringe even, I had to force myself to watch all of it and it was less than 6 minutes. All the memes are incredibly stale, nothing less than a decade old and half of it its unfunny "le 90's kid" shit. If that boer shithead bloomtard made this he should be taken out back and shot in minecraft. Ever since that fucker left south africa for the first world and became a preachy far-lefty millionaire he has lost all touch with reality, he lives in a parallel universe now much like seth rogen does, probably because he doesn't have to live in that shanty town-riddled shithole he came from anymore. Saw a lot of that in Brazil, upper-middle class and rich kids that would defend "favela culture" while living inside walled communities the size of a small city full of militarized private security. Its the same mentality, these shitheads wouldn't last a day in the hellholes they lionize.

Anyway, I WANT NAMES, I want the name of every "creative" oxygen thief involved with this. Everyone who worked in this game and approved of this shit needs to be publicly humiliated forever. When they apply to any job I want the search results to show this cringy-ass video to the would-be employers so they know they are talking to a fucking clown that has not idea what they are doing, no idea what gamers wants, no idea how to make a passable game let alone a good one and who will spend 2/3rds of a decade burning money only to create something so fucking bad that you have to pull the plug on a nearly finished product to prevent it from taking down your entire brand forever.

Seriously, consider for a moment that SEGA, the brand that made massive fuckups like the 32X had to cancel this shit to protect itself from the abysmally bad press they would get. It truly is that bad.

Actually, it reminds me of Starfield, which (unintentionally) created a dystopia universe where there are barely any white people and what remains of humanity is mostly homosexual or asexual and eats bugs/lives in pods
I wonder if this was done on purpose as a sort of concerted effort to make technological serfdom seem cool somehow.

For example this is how most people react to cyberpunk stuff:

I guess somebody in some PR agency realized that if cyberpunk could accidentally make a very dark dystopic future seem cool to normies then they could pull the same trick and make the far more boring less glamorous and possibly more horrible future we're heading into seem cool so that the masses of normies wont fight it.
and the pay is fucking phenomenal because of how few people are available to do the work
I keep hearing that and yet I don't see any of those super-high paying COBOL jobs, the only exception being some contract work for social security during the pandemic. Got any links? 'cause I'm getting a deja-vu from when all media got paid by FAANGS to say "we need more coders! the pay is great! you barely do any work!" to swamp the market and drive wages down.
The former is mainframe and aerospace-adjacent (i.e. big money and reliable work),
Didn't boeing just outsource most of that to the lowest bidders in india tho?

Nah, if they actually took a book from CP2077 then Neon wouldn't be the theme park side attraction it is now.
Writers are awful and the whole studio is woke, they genuinely think the future in Starfield, gay dads and cream-covered bug delicacies and all are the way of the future.

I just went digging and saw a few different sources for average pay. kek ... guess I'm not leaving my current position anytime soon. I stand corrected; COBOL programmers make on average about $80k a year. That sucks shit.

Yeah, though I'd never willingly work for Boeing anyway.

Nothing is stopping a zoomer from degluing from tiktok for a moment and picking up Snow Crash or Neuromancer. I am hopeful.

not only that, this is the same company that thought

^for SEGA to be so personally ashamed of this as to cancel it, you have to be mind-blowingly awful.

>the average zoomer
>reading anything more complicated than Harry Potter

don't forget The Diamond Age, which predicted the information age's rise, albeit through unconventional methods.

You forgot that they approved Golden Axe: Beast Rider, Alien: Colonial Marines and Sonic Lost World

Alien: Colonial Marines
To be fair that one wasn't entirely on them, Gearbox were bullshitting them with fake trailers too and telling them they were working on it while outsourcing it to third worlders and using the money to work on Borderlands instead

I mean yes, this one of those rare instances that I don't blame Sega on, even if they were involved in it. Randy Pitchford and his legion of faggots over at Gearbox were to blame, one main thing (which you've already mentioned that I do agree on, but I'm going to repeat it) was all the fake ads that were actually sourced from another game.

Really makes you think if a similar situation happened here. CA would have a vested interest in bullshitting SEGA that they had a killer game that just needed more time.

Would explain the abrupt and unceremonial termination, given how they were already burnt once with Colonial Marines.

I lived near a Favela once, went to school with people that lived there for a short period of time. There's nothing glorious about those shitholes. Being poor on money is one thing, those people are miserable in manners and culture. It's funny how some things are common sense among left-leaning rich people, but wouldn't fly at all among your average Joe that deals with all that bullshit everyday. I think we've all been there.

Sheeeeit that's worse than I expected, is that for a junior COBOL codemonkey? don't tell me seniors make the little.

I mean, if I was still stuck in south america and I could get that working remotely its a nice wage (depending of the country) but here in America with the current inflation you have to live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in Arkansas or something for that to look good, not even NWA which isn't that great either and full of wackos like boogie and that psycho tranny too.
Snow Crash was even more prescient IMO, but it's probably the same world so both work.
To think that snow crash was an exaggeration of the genre and even that its turning to be true.

Eh, CM is way more playable (and less false promises) than AI.
As playable as is, it's still shat on because of fake trailers that look like they're from a different game engine, because this is Gearbox we're talking about

The problem nobody talks about with the whole 'learn COBOL get a job with a bank forever' thing is that first, you had to go through the constant winnowing of that workforce in favor of 'more modern' languages back in the day which sucked. And even now you're probably not getting hired hired, you're probably getting contract work to 'holy shit fix this thing the last guy is retired and/or dead'. So it tends to be high pressure and short term, though it should pay well.

Snow Crash was kind of an exaggeration but for me it was actually the defining takeaway that I left it thinking 'wow, 90% of this is actually possible'. Compare with Gibson whose early work I read and thought 'you've never been in the same room as a computer' which I later found was basically true.

All I could find in linkedin were W2s that paid like $52 an hour, that's peanuts. One was at fomoco, not some dingy state bank.

No wonder nobody wants to replace the boomer (and older) COBOL codemonkeys, the shittiest startup out there pays better and all you do is copypaste/GPT/autopilot JS and python code.

With these shitty wages and lack of ways to learn COBOL (compared to other languages) I predict the competency crisis its gonna hit the entire IT banking and government sector hard.

I know, thing is it wasn't supposed to happen, like 1984.

But its happening.

I am in the Greater Car Area and automotive is still such a huge user of it. And auto IT departments are weird weird places to boot.

When I worked most recently in financial services the vague plan was to replace all that stuff with - get this- microservices in JS. Good luck with that, mah niggas.
