There have always been a handful of reasons people ID'd as ace, it just depends on the YouTuber tbh.

• Teenager trying to fit in
• Incel cope ("Nobody wants me? Fine, I didn't want to have sex anyway!")
• Sexually traumatized
  • I'd put JaidenAnimations in this category. The Internet was SO INTENSE about making porn of her that she started identifying as asexual. She's basically trying to identify her way out of sexual harassment, it's really sad.
• Pornsick pervert trying to hide it
  • Not a YouTuber, but this describes Anonymous Asexual. She had a webcomic about being ace while having a "non-sexual" vore fetish.
• Grifter looking for easy brownie points/attention/inclusion
• Libido killed by medication

I'm and like to think there are some people who are just disinterested in sex, but I still think 99.99% of "asexuals" online fit one or more of the above categories. Not sure where Illy fits, but she could easily have started in "Teenager trying to fit in" and just aged into "Grifter looking for easy brownie points." That's basically the Tumblr route.
