Sunset Overdrive was a fucking solid, nose to the grindstone, artistically wild shooter and I loved it. The reason they make this cape shit consistently is because it is always a consistent moneymaker, companies are largely done with making original IPs because it’s too much of a financial risk if it shits the bed. They can now continually pull from nostalgia banks and established IPs so board members can stay happy with quarterly revenue reports.

One of the biggest design flaws (to me) in Days Gone was how hard it was to get certain crafting materials; namely the ceramic jug for the super molotov thing. And it's mainly due to how the game is programmed to respawn the items, I don't remember exactly how it went, but it was pretty much made to where you can't just clear shit out and force it to come back; there was literal time you had to burn. My only other real complaint with the game was it felt a little long for what it was, I can't say that about too many games, but Days Gone is one of them. Though I will say, parts of it felt like a real passion project; like there was probably a group of motorcycle riders in the building and they said "Let's make our own game." And if it outsold Spiderman... ... ... HAHAHAHAHAHAH! GOOD! Sorry for your loss about not getting a sequel though.

That aside, if they want to use that Marvel franchise. Make a Yakuza / Like a Dragon style game with Gambit or a Metal Gear with Mystique.
