inZOI - Korean Life Simulation game made by the makers of PUBG

I hope this game does well and lives up to some of the hype, Sims has needed a proper competitor for a long while and I think Korea is quite possibly the best place for a competitor to come from. Hopefully they follow through on the modding support too.
Unfortunately this game is Korean. If there's one thing that is certain about that country's game industry, it's that they will inevitably fuck it up either because of greed, indecisiveness, or shortsighted thinking

I don't get the hostility towards this game. Sure, it's unlikely to live up to the lofty promises, but what else is there?

EA themselves admitted their diverse workforce lacks the ability and intelligence to make a Sims 5, and every other attempt to make a Sims clone failed miserably.
okay let me tell my issues with what i personally see so far
  • absolutely soulless look, of plastic people in that are made in game aka double fakery
  • too serious of the setting, as much as some things in sims were annoying i do want to have some of the silly things like having magic of walking mummies and shit.
  • no mods, i understand why they cant have it but it still a bummer, couple it with being an asian game and i can see game being a store simulator with a shit ton of microtransactions as soon as they release it. Because asians for some reason fucking love microtransactions.
  • from what i saw so far it looks more like interior design game more than life simulator, and that might be enough for some but i will find it boring as shit past first 3 hours
and on personal note i just hate Korea and dont trust it one bit
sims 3 is where the genre peaked imo

Mods are coming in May. That's the first bit of new content we're getting during early access.

EA had microtransactions in Sims 3, and basically in Sims 4 with the millions of $5 dlcs. So it's not like it hasn't been done in life simulation games, however I hope they don't add it.

Despite the bitching about rabbit holes, Sims 3 has always been the most fun. I loved the create a world feature even though everything I made turned into horrific shit. My hestitation also comes from the microtransactions. There was also the Sims 3 store which I remember many complaining about back then. Still trying to keep my hopes up

Microtransactions on the west and on the east a wildly different
while sims is pretty obnoxious with the whole "buy a chair for 2 bucks", if sims was made on the east they would also monetize the aspiration points (or whatever the currency for appealing to the sim's wants was called) plus some more
and with how gatcha shit is popular now i wouldn't be surprised if they make a pull system for said chair

I hope anyone considering this game will give this company their full support for listening to their community and taking such a pro-gamer/pro-consumer stance. This kind of behavior is quite rare, we need to do everything we can to support companies like this to show them that not treating gamers like dirty thieves is to their benefit, not their detriment.

(Plus, the lack of trannies puts this game literally leagues ahead of a number of recent, larger titles...)
yeah no lol this is more of a "im sorry you noticed how hard we were about to rape you" kind of statement.
read their original statement about "pursuing strict legal action against users making unauthorized modifications" again and try to tell yourself out loud that they arent treating the user like niggercattle who had better pay up and shut up. this kind of brazen arrogance and hatred for people who actually spend the most time playing the fucking games is why gaming as a hobby is fucked

so you removed (TEMPORARILY! FOR THE DEMO! THEY DIDNT SAY IT WONT BE COMING BACK) an infamous performance hogging malware from your game that is proprietary and a backdoor into my system and is designed to cause harm to my rights as a user of your software that i paid for? cool, you want me to pat you on the back? add a little tip for you to my order total perhaps? fuck no cunt, this should be the default.

vote with your wallets and the correct vote to make here is still to not buy. fuck any companies who think theyre entitled to take a steaming shit on consumer rights only to weakly backtrack when the backlash comes in. they may have rescinded their anti-user policy temporarily but they STILL hate you if youre a modder and they still wish they could steal whatever you make and sell it like it belongs to them.

I will quote myself about this post I put in the TS4 topic, about how this game won't kill The Sims 4:

Just like how Palworld won't kill Pokémon (not counting how Nintendo is been trying to take Palworld down with lawsuits), InZOI will NOT kill off The Sims 4 or the series as a whole for some reasons:
  • TS4 still has a captive audience with severe Stockholm Syndrome that continue to buy EA's broken ass DLCs.
  • TS4's player base tends to have weaker computers that will either have trouble running InZOI, or can't run it at all.
  • The anti-AI sentiment will also some people not play InZOI out of principle.
  • The lack of DiVeRsItY features in InZOI compared to TS4 (since InZOI is a South Korean-made game) will keep some people from making the switch.
  • Krafton's questionable past with microtransactions in their other games, as well other South Korean games being huge Pay-2-Win fests (i.e. MapleStory) will have some people distrusting Korean games out of instinct.
  • Build Mode in InZOI is less straight-forward to use compared to TS4's Build Mode, and may intimidate some players.
  • The uncanny valley feeling that some players have towards InZOI's artstyle, compared to The Sims, will also make some people not play.
  • It's yet to be seen how modder-friendly the game will be.
  • For the players of the past 3 Sims games, some of those players won't switch, if they don't think InZOI will be to their liking, and will keep on playing their older games.
  • Since EA confirmed that Project Rene will NOT be The Sims 5, EA will most likely take the easy route of milking TS4 with DLCs, until the game literally becomes unplayable.
This is a different situation from the SimCity 2013 to Cities Skylines, and the RollerCoaster Tycoon World to Planet Coaster and Parkitect comparisons, because both SC2013 and RCTW were financial failures, while TS4 did sell enough that EA milked the game with DLCs for a DECADE now.

Back to the game, with the Early Access releasing later today, KRAFTON posted their first list of Known Issues with the game:

List of known issues and plans for localization quality improvement

Dear Creators,

To provide a better gameplay experience, the inZOI team has continuously identified and addressed various issues throughout the development process.
The list below contains issues that the team is already aware of and fixing.

inZOI supports multiple languages to help you enjoy a deeper and more immersive life simulation experience.
However, we are aware that the current localization quality may be lacking.
Throughout Early Access, we will continue our efforts to improve the localization quality through ongoing LQA (Localization Quality Assurance) processes.
We kindly ask for your understanding and welcome your continued feedback.

1. Known Issues

(1) Build Studio (10 issues)
  1. When placing Property Presets saved in Build Studio, parts of the properties may be cut off if the preset is larger than the actual property size in the city.
  2. Even if the Property Preset size matches, some furniture may disappear or shift in position upon placement.
  3. Customization may not apply properly to the end roof surface of Half Hip Roofs. 1743087995379.png
  4. When windows are placed too close to interior walls, they may appear black or not display correctly. To fix this, try leaving a small gap between the window and the wall when placing it.
  5. If there is no ceiling from the second floor and above, ceiling-mounted objects such as lights may not be placeable. This can be resolved by adding a floor on the upper level to create a ceiling.
  6. If only part of the Floor was customized (not the entire area), it may disappear when moving the building or property.
  7. When using My Texture on Floor Tiles the horizontal or vertical flip function may not work properly.1743087977062.png
  8. When placing Handrails and Partial Walls on Platforms, they may sink into the platform.
  9. 1743087942611.pngWhen placing Handrails, several issues may occur—for example, handrails with different designs may not connect properly, or a ceiling may be generated when all walls in a room are made of handrails.
  10. Customization may not apply correctly to certain objects.
(2) Character Studio (2 issues)
  1. You may experience clipping with certain outfits when using customized body types.
  2. When hovering over standard outfits for children or adults, the wrong Canvas thumbnail may occasionally appear.
(3) City Play (8 issues)
  1. When a single Zoi remarries multiple times, some family members may disappear.
We recommend avoiding repeated remarriage and, if necessary, proceeding only when there are no children involved.
  2. Motions such as holding a baby may sometimes appear awkward or overlap unnaturally, affecting the parenting experience.
  3. In certain animations, the right arm may briefly jerk or snap.
  4. When moving, a character may take unexpected paths such as going around to find a proper route or cutting through terrain.
  5. Occasionally, distant objects may become the interaction target.
  6. When entering City Edit Mode by clicking Zoi's job location in the 'Career' App on the phone, you may not be able to pause the game.
  7. The remaining duration of an Emotion may occasionally be displayed incorrectly.
  8. When returning to Simulation from City Edit Mode, the Map Icon may occasionally remain visible and not disappear.
(4) Canvas (2 issues)
  1. Occasionally, deleting a preset may not remove its folder from the directory path.
  2. For presets saved before March 23, the author name may incorrectly appear as “inZOI.”

2. Future Improvements

(1) Localization Quality Improvements
While inZOI supports multiple languages, we are aware that the current localization quality may vary.
As we move into Early Access, we will focus on improving the quality of localization, including accuracy, consistency, and terminology standardization, while continuing to refine the user interface and fonts.
We understand that a highly immersive life simulation experience requires high-quality localization.
To that end, we will deliver ongoing updates to enhance the quality of localization.
You can check our localization progress by going to Settings > Game Options and opening the Language dropdown menu.
(The percentage shown in the image below is for reference only. Actual progress will be displayed in-game once Early Access begins.)

(2) Game Stability and Optimization
Due to the unique characteristics of Unreal Engine 5 and the complexity of city-scale simulation, inZOI currently requires high system specifications.
To address this, we are preparing a feature that automatically applies optimal settings based on your hardware.
We will also continue optimization efforts to ensure a smoother and more comfortable experience for a wider range of players.

(3) Ongoing Feedback Implementation
We will prioritize fixing bugs and quality-of-life upgrades, while continuing to update and improve features to enhance overall content integrity.
All your feedback is invaluable to us and thus will be carefully reviewed by the team.
We will continue to collect feedback through the following channels, and we kindly ask for your active input.

As we prepare for the launch of Early Access, we acknowledge that inZOI is still a work in progress, with many areas in need of improvement.
With your kind love and support, we will double our efforts in providing a better gameplay experience.
We truly appreciate your continued support and feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you into Early Access with sincere gratitude.

Thank you!
The inZOI Team.

I will quote myself about this post I put in the TS4 topic, about how this game won't kill The Sims 4:
Personally, I don't want this game to kill off TS4. I agree with you that there is not going to be enough overlap between the user bases to do so. I also like the graphics in TS4 and the wide variety of things to do/sense of whimsy the game now has compared to ten years ago.

What I'm hoping for, and I'm aware of how many rainbows are in the sky right now, is that having some actual competition in the genre helps force EA to improve the game by fixing old bugs, and by listening to the user base about issues.

I have friends who participated in beta testing for older EA games (the original Sims and SimCity 4) and in both instances they said users reported bug that still existed in the commercial release. They walked away from that experience wondering why they bother with beta testing at all.

That's the sort of thing that I hope happens because of Inzoi. And I do deserve rainbows for that, but I'm going to keep hoping. And not paying for the Sims ever again.

I tried Inzoi for a bit (via pirating), and It's very different from The Sims (at least 2-3 anyway - I haven't played 4 much)
It's more focused on open world quests (from a quick glimpse), you can adjust how the townies act and react to you. Their attitude. Different cities you play in have different mechanics. A lot of systems are cosmetic, you can adjust seasons but they don't actually affect the gameplay unlike The Sims. It actually worked the 'open world' nature of the game into its niche. and I think Inzoi being so different from the Sims is its strength, because it tells people that 'life simulator' can come in many form.

Skills are more 'modern' in a way that feels a bit corporate but I think that's the aesthetic they are going for. Old Sims feel more like 90s suburban satirical cartoon like The Simpsons and a heavy dose of weird conspiracy theory references and your characters aren't exactly 'cool' - they're goofy and you'd enjoy to drown them or starve them to death. Inzoi has a more urbanite-social media trendy sheen but not in ~DiVeRsItY~ and quirky chungus reddit way of Sims 4. It's more 'pretty girls on instagram doing makeup' kind of social media. A lot of system in the game is devoted to you becoming reputable and famous.

I think it'd be more popular for people who wants to create really pretty characters that they want to take seriously or designing houses. The game reminds me of stuff people would roleplay in GTA FiveM with mods. Cities are not editable like 2-3 and it's baked into gameplay, there are jobs you can do in one city but not another.

I think The Sims 4 is not salvagable at this point - but if it makes another company deciding to do their own kind of comeptitor or even EA to do a 'hard reboot', it might actually be great
I'll probably get it after a while, because I don't want to pay them if they add too many troon nonsense into the game

This faggot is big mad about the difficulty of having a same sex relationship. All of the townies are straight so you can only have gay zois if you create them yourself. There's a lot of seething in this video.

You can't call your partner husband or wife, just partner. You have the concept of trannies of course, it is current year.

I feel like it's got a lot of potential and anything that provides competition to EA is good in my book. I think they've gone too long without any and the Sims has suffered from it, as well as the pocketboo of any retard who pays for the millions of dlcs.

I'm going to get inzoi next month.

The game have just been released, im sure they will cave to these faggy crybabies on youtube and fagg it up more with patches later, we did see that happen to the sims after all.

The Sims has been in need of a good competition for a long while now, EA has gotten so complacent with the series they cancelled The Sims 5 because putting out garbage DLC and microtransactions for 4 was profitable enough. Hopefully this k-slop is good and popular so EA has to actually start trying again, or maybe so we can get a modern day Sims-like that isn't complete woke garbage.

It is looking interesting, so I may give it a try this weekend.

I like how all the grifters are freaking because they are adding all the bugmen stuff after release. Korea is mega pozzed so it was always happening. My biggest complaint(grabbed it from the high seas) and this applies to all Asian games: there is no randomize button for faces and bodies. I do character creation by spamming random until find something close and build off that.

Runs fine on a r5 3600 and a RTX 3060 12GiB. AI stuff is super basic, SD 1.4 levels, but it's good enough for someone who doesn't have the talent of will to load up good ai models. How they handle modding will the the break or make. I'll check back in 3-6 months and see how it has come along.

The Sims 4 has always been destined to be an unsalvagable and doomed project, since they had to hastily pivot the game mid-development away from being a multiplayer game after the 2013 version of SimCity flopped. And based on the leaks about Project Rene and side projects like The Sims Town Stories, EA definitely won't make a real Sims 5 game anytime soon, unless they pivot hard, and that means that a Sims 5 game is 5-7+ years away if they actually do that, given how Project Rene has been in Development Hell, with the very little details EA announced about it.

And while Paralives is also still "in-progress", the artstyle for the characters seems off-putting, and development has been going at a snail's pace. Also, their 2025 release date still seems too optimistic for them.

Apparently you can run over children in the game, and Krafton has responsed that this will be patched out. Sadly, that was to be expected because of the game's Teen rating, and also because there's product placement with Hyundai cars (Inster and IONIQ 5) being available in the game, and automakers have clauses that don't allow games to depict things like realistic car body damage and running over people.

I bought it yesterday before there was a thread up about it. Reading through the thread now I'm glad I didn't play it much because after hearing about the Denuvo and anti-mods stance I decided to refund it. From the little I did play though it feels incredibly unpolished.

But I want to play Carmageddon!

I understand why they want to remove it, so I guess I'd better get it out of my system now.

I guess you missed that they removed Denuvo because the gamers did not like it, and that official mod support is coming in May.
