I am sure their dynamic has gotten to this point

or like the more realistic version since Barb does look slightly mannish herself

I wonder who is actually paying the bills? In the past Chris has had trouble naming them so I guess Barb would still have to be cutting the checks.

barb is a senior citizen with multiple health problems.
the chandlers have a history of neglecting health issues due to poor quality of life.
should chris be the sole caretaker for such a sickly woman? she had dropped hundreds of pounds in the past few years.this should be concerning. i guess the second part of this conversation is does chris even care about barb? or is he just waiting for her to die so he can have "lesbian sleepovers" as he has stated to cole in their recent one sided correspondence?

The cats are a better choice; least they don't spend money on useless crap

He's not, but that's the beauty of it.

Had Barb tried just a bit harder to raise a responsible (if still socially incompetent and financially dependent) man, then her quality of life wouldn't be so shitty. She's really reaping what she sowed.

I almost think Chris' reason for being is punishment for Barb, and to some extent, Bob's behaviors over the years.

I wouldnt even trust him with the chandler cats! Barbs gonna have to do it on her own.
Barb's not getting any younger, I'm wondering how Chris is going to look after himself when she's gone
He will get in a shitload of trouble and keep her dead body like motel bates.

The Q could be asked for both of 'em, regarding their skills to take care of one another.

Chris can't cook or clean and views pulling weeds as something akin to the construction of the Thai-Burma Railway, so for looking after most people, I would say definitely no. But Barb is fine with living in squalor and eating crap, and Chris is perfectly capable of providing that.

I think, though, with her advancing years, Barb is getting harder to deal with. Hence Chris' desperate attempts to reconnect with other family members. Barb is already crazy and paranoid, and senility would probably make her intolerable. Chris can't cope with people acting like normal human beings, God only knows what he'd do if Barb woke up one morning thinking it was 1963 or something. Due to his lack of theory of mind, his response when people aren't doing what he wants is frustration and anger. And lest we forget, he's incredibly selfish. If she started wetting herself, say, I could definitely see him ignoring it. Probably justifying it by claiming that she's trolling him.

Then there's his limitless capacity for stupidity. Really wouldn't put it past him to think, "Well, if I gave her All Her Meds now, then I would Not Have To Worry About It for the next month, which I plan to spend Tribbing Hot Lesbians."

I can't imagine them even really speaking to each other. I kinda get the impression that Barb cares for herself except for the occasions when she needs some unspeakable medication rubbed on a terrible thing on a horrendous body part she can't reach then she hollers Chris over from his half of the nest. Chris grumbles his way over and barely conceals his disgust and then goes on the internet to sperg about what a philanthropist he is. Those moments of affection we occasionally see in videos are either staged or a ploy to pacify Barb after whatever colossal fuckup she's helped him out of that week. I genuinely think that Chris won't notice she's dead until the smell becomes worse than the background hoard-stench or somebody comes knocking at the door looking for money for an unpaid bill.

Well, I don't think they talk very much. However, no, Chris is Barb's hand servant. She screams for him and he comes running. She has him change the newspaper the dogs shit on, she has him run errands to bring her stuff, and she used to have him haul her goodwill crap to the car, and then from the car into the house.

If you'll recall, a few months to a year before the fire, Chris stopped being permitted to sleep separately from Barb, in his bedroom. He had to sleep closer to Barb, because she needed to be able to yell for him to go to sheetz and buy her crap, and he wasn't able to hear her up in his bedroom. He kind of tried to resist at first, but then she got super pissed and threw a tantrum. She wrecked his room and like flipped everything over because he was trying to sleep on his own.

Edit: Oh, though, I think Barb's yelling has gotten much less frequent nowadays. It seems like she's pretty feeble nowadays. Chris is just as scared of Barb as he used to be though. I don't think he realizes how much power he has over Barb nowadays.

They're really physically affectionate in a strange way. Chris is pretty touchy feely with women because of habits he learned by spending time with Barb.

I'm surprised that Barb let this behavior happen in the first place. Did Bob ever say anything about that?

Please tell me there's video.

Barb was always too close with Chris. Maybe that's OK with a younger child. But she didn't stop when it started to get creepy. Chris owning blowup dolls should've hinted to Barb to stop cuddling with her adult son.

Bob did try to say something about it, but Barb flipped out. Kind of like when he tried to clean up the hoard and she flipped shit on him. It seems like it was easier for Bob to just go with the flow.

Haha, unfortunately there isn't.

Well, she's alive, isn't she? It's not like Barb is an infant who can't take care of herself.

Besides, he does go out of his way to get her help, like with her horrible dental problems. So he does care about her, as you should, living with your spouse for 33 years.
