My introduction to him was through some video that kept getting recommended and I was like "Why the fuck does it keep recommending this?!" I downloaded it and pretty quickly thought he was an insufferable faggot and set the video to "do not recommend" which doesn't even work. I didn't realize he had a thread here until the WoW incident and felt so vindicated when I read the OP. I think a lot of people can tell he's a jackass almost immediately but those people aren't commenting or hanging around. He's also petty enough and so narcissistic he'll hide any negative comments that trickle up so there's no chance of a "lol this guy is retarded" comments being up there.

My actual take. I can understand how if you're a hardcore free market libertarian where his case takes root, but he seems to be really missing the point that people pay for a product and with no say, that can be taken away at anytime.

Over the past 5 - 7 years there have been so many cases of games being top dollar, suckering people in and then flipping the off the switch. Making the game unplayable for everyone. Where is the line when you say "You need to support this for a reasonable amount of time" or "you need to make this available for consumers". While I personally won't buy these titles, people deserve protection & at the very least refund policies for a product that doesn't function as sold.

I truly believe that if this publisher will start counting CPU cycles, EC2 instance costs and bytes in. All in a manner to calculate when a game is/isn't worth supporting financially & they'll make that change on a flip of the switch.

My take would be that you do not need some government body standing over Gaming as a whole, but you do need consumer protection baked in to for people caught in these situations. I don't see how this is an unreasonable ask.
