I did not know these coins even existed so I had to do some easy research.
This page has some general information on the history and use of challenge coins.

It is a decent read. However, there is one paragraph that is interesting:

"In the military, challenge coins are often exchanged in casual challenges where one person presents a coin, and others are expected to produce their coins to avoid a penalty. This is not a common practice within the FBI. FBI challenge coins are presented with honor and respect during ceremonies, retirement parties, or other significant events. They are not typically carried on a daily basis and are more commonly displayed in an agent’s office or home as a reminder of their dedication to the FBI’s mission.
Does the coin glow in the dark too?

So, seems like Maldavius is done with SKG for good (from Aug 14 stream):

Or is he (Aug 17):

Seems like he's trying to STFU about it, but just can't help himself.

On another note, turns out RTFM is actually very useful. yt-dlp can download auto generated subs, so there's no need to suffer through hours of Mald (trying to) edit some YAML files: yt-dlp --skip-download --write-auto-subs --sub-lang='en'.

Lmao, immediately shuts off the sub upon hearing anything about SKG, few days later, ASMONGOLD HAD A POINT GAIS SKG SUXXXXXXXXS. It’s his boulder moment. He’ll never live down his stance on SKG and he knows that.

That's assuming it actually happened. I did find a clip where he talks about it, and the whole story sounds like a fanfic. Either that, or everyone involved is extremely retarded.

Jason called the FBI to report a hacker hacking at a hacker convention. If that didn't get him shunned from the DEFCON community, then the community is gayer and glows more than I previously estimated — assuming any of this is real.

This was at DEFCON 24 (2016), the same DefCon he won his second Black Badge for solving the Badge puzzle. The Badge puzzles at this time were designed by Ryan Clark (archive) aka LosT/LostboY/李智上/1O57. Jason was given a position of authority by Ryan Clark to manage the room dedicated to this puzzle challenge, and used his position to lie and mislead other participating teams while stealing their contributions. I guess that left him with a lot of time to start pulling apart rogue machines, reading "logs" from the card, and calling the FBI.

This is just wild speculation, but this device could have been a modified FemtoCell which has a very small signal radius of 15ft-50ft (hence why multiples of them were found), to passively sniff SMS communications from competing teams in the challenge. Similar to Jason stealing information, using a FemtoCell to do so is gigaflexing compared to Jason's "social engineering".

Anyway, this is funny because FemtoCells became a really popular topic when they appeared in the hacker show Mr Robot, where a modified FemtoCell is used to eavesdrop on the FBI. Jason has strong opinions on the show Mr Robot:

Jason alleges that Mr Robot stole his research on previous puzzles he solved and used it for the plot of the show. His proof is that the show mistakenly included included an answer to one of the puzzles which was a cellphone number to the "puzzle maker", who I am assuming is Ryan Clark. This apparently made it to broadcast, causing Ryan Clark to get a flood of unwanted calls when his phone number appeared on national television.

According to the DEFCON Facebook page, LosT (Ryan Clark) was working on a secret project with the Mr Robot team around the time after Jason's second confirmed visit to DEFCON. 14572290_10154057613266656_8805335727361003434_n.jpg
Archives of InfoSec presentations also credits Ryan Clark as being a "consultant for Mr Robot" (Archive). The only information I could find about a phone number leaking from the show came from the Season 2 Trailer, which at 0:41 shows the following phone number: (212) 804-6003.main-qimg-093296412333b6d5dfdaee79fc497ad1-c.jpg
When dialed, this number goes to an automated service themed after the show's antagonist company E-Corp, in which the voice service appears to malfunction and offers a mysterious message, and series of beeps. This is the introduction to a Mr Robot themed puzzle, also known as an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). information on the ARG was posted to Reddit (Archive), and timelines coincide to Jason's involvement with LosT and DEFCON.

Jason's research was never stolen by Mr Robot. LosT did not give his real phone number out to a bunch of random hackers at a convention. Jason probably hallucinated this, or it's like the rest of his war stories — cobbled together from a bunch of hearsay he's overheard, then attaches his name to it.

(Jason, if you're reading this, and all of what you claim is actually true, then I fucking hate you for making me waste my time going down this rabbit hole because you can never elaborate, or post receipts for anything you say or do. Fuck you.)

4:34 he says he deleted vods lol. So much for not bringing attention to it.

My favorite thing about Jason's long stream rants is that he pauses the music to speak then resumes it immediately after he finishes talking. Depending on the music it usually ends up sounding like a comedy edit. If it's zoomer clown music it sounds like a punchline to him saying something stupid like the Always Sunny titles. If it's cool or hype sounding it's like he's putting his own hype track on after finishing his rant with a mic drop style moment. I doubt any other kiwis find this as funny as I do but it's my consolation prize for having to listen to his word salad vomit with his over processed radio mic setup.

Following that thread I decided to do a quick search to see if OBS can do any kind of sidechaining or audio ducking. The second result in the search engine is a 5 minute video explaining exactly that with what can only be described as trivially easy setup.

For those unaware sidechaining or audio ducking will dynamically lower the volume of another track when a source track is above a specified volume. This would mean he could leave his music on and have it automatically lower in volume as he delivered his rants then smoothly return to full volume afterward. I assume he reads this thread but doubt he'll utilize this information so I share it just for thread readers to learn something new about OBS.

Jason probably hallucinated this, or it's like the rest of his war stories — cobbled together from a bunch of hearsay he's overheard, then attaches his name to it.
Considering this post and @Panzekampfwagen Einz digging up the info about the FBI coin I get the feeling Jason will always lie to make himself sound better first and then backpedal later when challenged on it. Fortunately for him he's aware that nobody he interacts with is going to challenge him on it and if they do he is usually in a position to shut them down. Real life events don't have archives or receipts except for people there. He can conveniently claim he 'lost' his FBI coin or that it's not at the place he streams from and unless a particularly big stink is kicked up he still gets away with it.

With how little people question the information they see online, especially his reddit tier audience, it would not at all surprise me that the vast majority of his popular clips are completely fabricated stories or hearsay that he then applies to himself. Most people will just accept it as true so long as it fits his character.

Notice his shit eating grin throughout the entirety of the Mr. Robot clip. Does Jason regularly exhibit Duper's Delight while telling tall tales? He certainly isn't smiling while defending his takes on SKG.

A short (of course) from July 25, 2024 where he "elaborates":

Some "interesting" things:
  1. What he shows on screen is this post, which is a "walkthrough" for DEFCON 22, not 24. (Edit: 24 was only mentioned in regards to the FBI story, so not important here).
  2. "(251) 273-2738" is directly listed as the solution for "Part 1".
  3. The Xeet he shows also has a "Thor" (who could that be, I wonder?) linking to the puzzle solution.

Jason never misses a chance to congratulate himself and parade his accomplishments to the public. How many times have you heard about his work experience at Blizzard, the Department of Energy, or his Black Badges from DEFCON. Now compare that to winning a challenge coin from the FBI, where he isn't sure if he got a challenge coin or not.

I don't care if he produces a coin live on stream, you can buy facsimiles on Amazon, it proves nothing.

Furthermore, he could easily milk his captive audience, and expand upon his stories at least establish some credibility with some dedicated streams:
"Today we're exploring Azeroth and the rock I placed that got 200,000 bots banned from World of Warcraft"
"Here's the technical writeup I did on the DEFCON challenges, and the part of Mr Robot where they used my material"
"I gathered members of my former DEFCON team to talk about how we solved the Badge puzzle"
"Today we're using Ghidra to reverse engineer World of Warcraft botting programs"

Among the links in the write-up includes his old twitter, PotatoSec, where he outright tweets directly at MrRobot over it. Apparently no one told him about the puzzlemaker directly consulting on the show.

He legit spergs on the showrunner for it, which is amusing.
I looked further into the PotatoSec name but there's nothing else of any real value, just some roster pages for the remaining members.

Edit: Tagging Black Willow Lurker's Post for bringing this to my attention

So the creator of the puzzle, LosT, now working for the Mr Robot show, posts his own puzzle in which he voluntarily removes his signature '1o57' because it makes the puzzle unnecessarily difficult without context. Jason is browsing Twitter and sees a post on the @whoismrrobot twitter acount, and through sheer sperg levels I cannot fathom, remembers this string of nonsense ciphertext from a puzzle he did two years prior:
GURCREEVACNTRFJVYYURYCLBHSVAQLBHEPNYYVATOHGQBAGORQHCRQPHGQBJAGURJBBQFGURLORREQBF

Jason, who cannot fathom doing anything that doesn't get him internet clout, attaches himself to this, hoping to escalate it to a viral Reddit front page story with a "Look at me, I'm so smart!" moment by posting the answers in cleartext — which contains the phone number for anyone to call.

Jason, then proceeds to take sole credit for all his endevours, and begins to misremember lie to people:

"I don't like Mr. Robot because they took some information they should not have taken from a write-up that I did on some puzzles that I solved at DEFCON; And then they put them into an episode of the show, and I found out about it. And the only source of that knowledge was my write-up... You want to know what the solution for that was? It was the puzzlemaster's personal cell phone number. To which he got thousands of calls. Maybe don't put things in your episode if you don't know what it is... Idiots." -Jason Thor Hall

Mind you, this puzzle is UNSOLVABLE without the DEFCON pamphlet. There was no risk of this phone number being exposed until Jason decided to post it online. So Jason caused the exact crisis he blames the Mr Robot show for creating, and continues to use this as an example of how smart he is. Brilliant.

I know it's unrelated to the discussions at hand but if you guys need access to Jason's old pictures from FA as well as his pooner GF's galleries, here's a link to them that's only accessible through TOR. Do be aware that while I did hide them behind two layers, there is porn under these links and degenerate fetish shit ahead under River's accounts.
