All of this could be settled by him just saying he uses a performance or radio or broadcast voice. I get that it's Twitch, and you're supposed to be your authentic self or some shit, but it's a real thing people do; I wouldn't even call it deceptive, it is you manipulating your natural talking voice, but it's still you using your voice. All this second puberty in your thirties and shit, come on dude, let's not make things more difficult; even if it's not a voice changer, you change your voice to be more presentable, which has been a thing since humans started talking to boxes and sending those voices to home radios. Some people are gifted with a natural one, some have to work on it; don't make shit more complicated for yourself.

It sounds like on his streams he in a space with good acoustics and he's properly using a decent microphone. There is shit audio in the three other videos I've seen in the thread. I wouldn't call it a full-on "voice changer" (as that implies pitch shifting or auto-tune) but I'll second the theory that he probably knows how to use his microphone, uses some EQs on his audio, and has probably practiced his "radio announcer voice."

How I know? I literally do the same thing for Zoom and MS Teams meetings at work. I use a small Shure gooseneck mic or AKG on a boom, plugged into in an USB audio DSP that lets me EQ and monitor my audio on the fly. If I am leading a meeting or speaking with authority on a subject, I'll use the "radio announcer voice" and boost the low end a little bit, if I'm on the phone doing tech support I'll drop out the low end and use my "customer service voice".

It's all trained and learned behavior that I'd absolutely expect from a "professional streamer/YouTuber" and bullshit artist. Kind-of puts him a cut above your average autistic cow and solidly in that he solidly "knows what he's doing"... which seems to follow from his preemptive DFE of anything that runs counter to his current persona, as well as the way he deals with his detractors.

He even lies about his voice, take a listen to this interview and compare it to the video where he explains timed exclusivity

That girl in that interview has a shit microphone or bad EQ as even she sounds ear piercingly tinny. Listening to her literally hurt my ears. Of course Thor is going to sound like crap.

Once again, sounds like it's EQ'ed to make everyone sound "clearer" with less low-end. Also, he can't do the "swallow the microphone" trick he uses in his videos.

Jesus Christ how high do they have the gain cranked on that thing? As a professional presenter of bullshit, you'd think he'd have the mic discipline to pull that thing closer and not thump the podium every 5 seconds.

Compare to this post where he addresses the "controversy":
"There's like an anti-fanbase out there"

Here it really does sound like he's just doing "radio announcer voice" and properly "eating the microphone". He even pulls away from the microphone to do his "oh hey guyz" impersonation of himself without the voice changer.

Like I say above, he knows exactly what he's doing here, and it's a great distraction from his other bullshit.

(edit to avoid double post since I caught up to the thread's end)
I call it the resume syndrome. Even if you're not lying or embellishing the truth; so wow, okay, you did 10+ years at Blizzard as an Offensive Security Specialist, moved onto Amazon Game Studios where you were a python (big fucking LOL) programmer, and then went on to work for the US Government to pen test power plants. No lie, on paper, that's pretty impressive. Then you see how he codes...
This reminds me of the two primary types of "hackerman" types I knew growing up: They were either hyper-autist retards with social awkwardness, attention to detail, and decent programming skills; or social engineers and total bullshit artists with weak coding skills, their mouths writing checks their skill couldn't cash... you know, posers.

Thor, much like Kevin Mitnick, is undoubtedly that second type.

It doesn't help that if you're telling a war story, you don't even have to put yourself in the position of the person who did something smart/clever; you just "Oh yeah, so we were doing X and we were having trouble, but then homeboy pulled a whatever." Oh shit man, you really were in the thick of it weren't you; while he was really just standing there waiting for someone to open the door so he could piggy back through with them.
Which is why he's a popular Twitch streamer rather than a prolific indie dev, as someone accurately critiqued his code earlier, his technical skills are not as strong as he'd like you to believe.

That's a lot of text to say he goes into OBS studio and puts an EQ filter over his voice to make it sound bass(ier?). Combine this by just talking in a low voice and you get Maldavius Figtree's voice.

Looks like mald has a second abandoned game: Kill The Moon (steamdb)
View attachment 6517728

It has received 0 updates since 2019, but he will update the steam page occasionally, even as recent as September.

Sometime in 2020, one of his mods made a reddit post (archive) stating that development would be on hold until heartbound releases (never) as "Pirate Software is working on one thing at a time"

If that were the case maybe he should quit the minecraft plugin config streams and work on his "passion project"
two games at once? Takes real talent.
We're moving into the realm of Peter Molyneux now.

He's taking his own advice; "It doesn't matter if you don't know what you're doing, go make games."

Surprisingly, when you don't know what you're doing, you end up abandoning them because you have no fucking clue what to do.

Woah, let's pull back, Molyneux made some good games that actually were finished back in the day. Mald has made 0 good or finished games (since Champions of Breakfast was stolen he didn't make it).

Does gamemaker not have tools for localization? Why the fuck would anyone do something like this? This is the same thing he does in heartbound

There doesn't seem to be built-in localization for gamemaker but I did find a project on the forums for it, so it's clearly very possible to do it by just loading a JSON file like any normal person would. I consider this guy to be on the same level as YandereDev with how he just uses arrays and walls of if else for everything, if not below because at least YandereDev probably spent more of his time actually working on game dev instead of just streaming himself being smug and telling lies.

This might be a bit of a problem for Mald though:

All the more reason to have been suspect of Nukebot's claims. A damning indictment of Mald's coding skills.
It's disturbing that his skill level has remained the same since 2016.
Parsing a json file is literally a tutorial tier coding task.
You can't convince me he had any semblance of education (physical or online).

People like Jason are the worst to work with.
Mentoring them is useless because their dunning-kruger egos refuse to learn the proper way to do shit.
Any project with their excessive involvement is a guaranteed flop.

Judging by the code, it was definitely made by mald
I'm not familiar with gamemaker but it wouldn't be possible to use an json with maps or to build a basic version of something akin to i18n to do translations on it?

The sloppy code of Mald makes me want to punch him

It's no wonder the botting problem on WoW has NEVER been solved in 20 years when you have people like this in charge of solving it. I had always thought it was intentionally done by Blizzard to inflate sub numbers, but now I see it is simply gross incompetence. Though, perhaps Blizzard intentionally puts people like this on the job knowing they will be ineffective. I don't see how someone could take this guy seriously in a professional setting. The little diagrams he draws in MS paint are seemingly nonsensical so often that I had thought he was trolling at first, until I heard the story about putting a rock in the path of a bot to fix the botting problem. This confirms his retardation.

Didn't he come up with some really gay explanation along the lines of "We know we can't totally stop the botting problem. I mean, we could if we really wanted to, but why would we want to do that? We'd be losing sub numbers if we did that."
