andd he keeps forcing his retarded "burrito index", which is so retarded Mald can't even parse it himself:
View attachment 6669646
Not to mention his retarded burrito index goes back 1 year. He basically has 2 data points relevant for the current adpocalypse discussion: ad revenue in Oct/Nov this year, and last year. This is not enough data to prove any-fucking-thing. It doesn't take a data scientist to know that. Dude is a smooth brained retard.

It should have gone back five years, but Jason is consistent in lying.

Mald being fake and gay as usual. He perfectly embodies the reddit mentality of "I'm the smartest in the room" while being the only one in his room. Even in the best case scenario, his data is just an outlier since he's in the safe, upper echelon of earnings.

Is this quirky naming thing millenial humor? Or is Jason just that much of a fatass to choose burrito as his metaphor for revenue?

I think he wanted to do something tangent to the BigMac index, to compare purchasing power of ad revenue earnings in time.

But I'm assuming this based on the posts in this thread, I'm not watching this smug faggot trying to explain advertisement market with confidence of an economist with 20 YoE.

It feels like he's trying to make his own Big Mac Index, but the BMI has a real reason to use Big Macs as an equivalent product available in many currencies while the Burrito Index is just trying to be quirky for quirky's sake and hoping his own version of Reddit's "Banana for scale" catches on. As far as I can tell, the same exact simple point of "I don't see my adrev dropping" can be made with dollar amounts.

Checking back on his original post, I see he claims he's using burritos instead of straight dollars to account for inflation and it's a meme that's existed in the past. I suppose that tracks but something tells me the quirk factor was more important in the decision based on how hard he's pushing the burrito aspect.

I mean, he is technically the smartest person in the room when the rest of the occupants he attracts are even less than room temperature IQ and hang off his every word.

The same could be said for many internet personalities though.

I have a vague memory that he has a short where he's talking up his time and role at Blizzard and how SMRT he is, and there was something to do with throwing burritos and managers?

If so, he's also using burritos because it links back to a story he told where he thinks he was super cool.

The burrito at blizzard thing was a HR training scenario question thing (a video?) where an employee who is in love with with another employee sees their boss flirting with said crush. Somehow a burrito is involved (he's eating a burrito I guess) and the question was what should you do in this situation and one of the multiple choice answer is "throw the burrito at the boss". Mald and apparently a bunch of other employees found this question scenario funny and it turned into a meme.

Most people aren't that retarded, just way too credulous. If someone doesn't know much about programming they're going to trust the guy who says he's a programmer and talks about things they don't understand. It's kind of like teaching riddles to children. The kids might be convinced you're a genius until they become an adult and realize that everything you told them was just obvious to adults and everyone knows that. You know the answer to this, and so does everyone else, but for a child its their first exposure to the idea of stupid riddles.
What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon, and three in evening

It's the same for people who don't know how to program. You just tell them something some common knowledge that everyone who's done a compsci101 course knows, and it blows their mind. Then it sounds even more convincing when they brag about how great they are at it while playing drawabox on their youtube stream. So the other users in the room aren't necessarily retarded, they just don't know anything about programming and trust they're not being lied to by famous-streamer-man. There's probably at least a few really smart people he's fooling because they're doctors, not programmingers. A lot of people are humble and defer to whatever authority they see on a topic they don't know much about. And then you have people who are experts on everything that comes up. Security? Gamedev? Social engineering? I'm an expert on that now. Alright, now I'm an expert on ferrets. I think tomorrow I'll be an expert on statistics, twitch revenue, and network programming. Next week I'm going to be an expert on warfare.

Even better, if you manage to get a job using your bullshit techniques, regardless of your ability you now have an actual work history you can point to for more bullshitting. You see this behavior a lot with boomers who spend most of their time talking about how good they are at doing something and then fail the moment there isn't someone to drag them across the finish line. Bragging specifically about how long you've worked is extra boomerish because people who accomplish things brag about what they've done, or more often keep it to themselves because most experts who spent years honing their craft know there's someone lurking around them who is even better than them. I remember one guy who was 50 or so bragging to me about how he's been painting for 40 years. For some reason he counted his work from when he was 10 and thought I'd be impressed. It's the same whenever I work with programmers where the oldest and least skilled people spend the most time talking about how much better they are at programming than everyone else.

There was one other youtuber I forgot the name of who does shitty drama videos and decided to make an indie game. He recruited a bunch of old cools through his artist's dad's AAA work connections. The old men he hired spent most of their time in the video talking about how they're extremely skilled and normally work with much more important people with PhDs but just for fun, they've deigned to work on this indie project. They're even are willing to work with this one loser who has no real experience except for making indie games in his spare time. All this, and all they produced is some half-baked shitty streamerbait horror game. I'm just going off memory here so I probably got some details wrong there.

If you're not already good at something you're not going to be able to tell the sycophants from experts. That's why if you do somehow end up with a bunch of money to make a game, you should just contract out a real studio with a proven record instead of trying to roleplay as a game development business owner who knows nothing about developing games. Otherwise you're just going to have all your money drained by people who are really good at playing the game and sounding like an expert. This is also why nearly every early kickstarter game failed to materialize, because people threw their money at people who sounded authoratative on game development who were just confidence tricksters. These people then hired their own friends or other people who sounded equally confident (because they can't actually vet ability, just sociability and authority). Unfortunately there's not much overlap between being really good at programming and being good at confidence tricks, because truly good programmers wasted their entire life banging their head into a wall just to inch slightly closer to divine intelligence. They don't even do it for an external motivation, but just because they love the work and want to get better.

The only real risk to a bullshit artist is that when he starts talking about something the mark does know a lot about, they quickly lose confidence. You often see comments like "I thought this guy was so smart, how could he be so blatantly wrong about this other thing?" and it's just users finally discovering that their streamer's actual skill is being confident about shit he knows nothing about.

The only reason maldy gets away with larping as a security expert is that it's such an incredibly niche skill that nobody can call him out on it. Most of this post isn't even directly about PS, I'm just tired of seeing people bullshit about their skills and experience and getting believed by everyone just because they sound confident.

TLDR: The average person probably(?) isn't retarded, they're just humble and defer to authority on topics they don't understand which unfortunately makes them easy prey for people who act confident enough.

A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a gross distortion or misrepresentation of the truth primarily used as a political propaganda technique.[1][2] The German expression was first used by Adolf Hitler in his book Mein Kampf (1925) to describe how people could be induced to believe so colossal a lie because they would not believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously".

PART 2 (ELECTRIC BOOGALOO)
Wow. Jason completely exposed himself as a retard here. He walked back the claim that the Adpocalypse was NOT happening and instead said it's not happening yet (2:00-2:26). Devin compliments him by saying he's a professional and an inspiration (3:56-4:14), only for Mald to brush off Devin's testimony of being a large advertiser on Twitch who has called with the Twitch Ad team and knows what brands are pausing their ads. (9:00-13:05).
This is common ferrety behavior too among professional bullshitters. You say something ridiculous that gets you tons of attention, realize you can't defend it, and then you slowly walk it back into some "middleground" position and everyone pats you on the back for being the man of reason and having a nuanced opinion where you haven't taken either side. It's actually kind of helpful for probing where your position should be if you want to be the middleground streamer guy who says stuff.

He did this a bunch of times for the SKG campaign. People were mad at some rich streamer calling Ross a greasy used car salesman and making up random bullshit about or misunderstandings about the campaign, and he walked his opinion back and convinced his fans that people were mad at the newest lukewarm less-wrong opinions he has now. It's pretty common in streamers once you start noticing it. PS could have gone after anyone but ross, that man spent 10 years living in a shitty apartment with no car and living off 80 cent canned beans from the bean cabinet just so he could make funny game dungeon videos. He put himself out there for one last attempt at keeping old games alives and the streamer with basically the biggest audience out there shit all over it for reactionbait.

This post I'm writing really deserves a 'not your personal army' response, but I wish there was a well written post or a good video that summarised how dogshit Mald actually is at programming/game dev.

Even Dan, who is someone very accomplished in tech feels the need to defer to Mald in what he has staked out as his area of expertise. If there was just a link you could send to someone like Dan, it would be easier to demonstrate that the only thing Mald is actually good at is self-promotion.

At that point you'd either need a yandere-dev style breakdown of Heartbound (champions of breakfast is too easy to dismiss as an "early project") or you'd need to go through his endless Minecraft modding streams, but I think that's a category of torture banned even in guantanamo Bay.

You know, this reminds me of when Doug Walker kept trying to force memes like "Fried the coke", "Nuked the fridge", and "Big lipped alligator moment". It's really transparent when someone tries to force something into the zeitgeist.

This will happen naturally as he continues to make enemies. At some point there will be some breaking point of goodwill where somebody who knows what they're talking about and is willing to engage in a little drama will make a video. Much like how everyone turned on Mr. Beast suddenly.

Hey, at least Doug was entertaining. Mald's steams are fucking unwachable. And somehow Doug's autistic screeching was less grating than Mald's poorly EQ'd radio-man voice.

It'd be entertaining to see someone deconstruct Mald's coding "skills", but unfortunately there's really no Coffeezilla equivalent for h4x0rz (as far as I know, anyway). He keeps "making friends" at record speed though, so eventually he'll find a big enough rake to step on.

Mald's streams are definitely watchable when you don't know his grift and unironically buy into the verbal snake oil he's selling in regards to himself and what he does.

Once you know, though, I don't think most people could feasibly stomach sitting through several hours of him huffing his own farts and being confidently wrong on most things he talks about unless you're unironically ragewatching him.

Hell, watching him in general is giving him analytics so he probably likes the attention anyway, which is another good reason not to bother watching him.

I don't know, even if one were to buy into his bullshit, it has get old at some point. There's only so many ways he can repeat his "20 yEaRs Of ExPeRiEnCe" line (if wonder if he'll remember to update it to 21 years eventually). And, he doesn't seem to really *do* anything during his 12-hour streams.

There's a good chance he's viewbotting, though. It just might be me being retarded, but I can almost hear Mald thinking "oh, shit" in this clip:

Used the website (archive) seen in the clip, it claims "No cheating".

I don't trust those results, due to the fact that the website has a rating for botting services.

I am willing to guarantee you that nobody but the most cultish of parasocial retards are watching Mald with 100% focus. Like with most folks, especially given the 6-12 hour runtime of his streams on average, people turn it on and leave it as background noise until he brings up something (and I use this term with respect to the most general definition of the term, not based on our subjective disdain for Mald) "interesting" to talk about.
