To work on Hearhbound he would have to admit that:
1. He overscoped himself
2. The game code is spaghetti mess and requires major rewrite
3. He actually needs to learn to code
4. He isn't as skilled as he proclaimed

He won't touch Hearbound live now. He knows he is being watched so if he shows code now it will just add to his image of incompetency.

Hearbound is kill. (:_(
It's been months since I looked at the thread, did I and the others seriously brow beat him into not showing his spaghetti code anymore??? lmfao.

Fame from being an indie dev is a crap shoot.
Fame and the quality of the product never went hand in hand.
Any indie devs who care about getting out there markets, has someone else market for them, or got picked up by Jewtubers. Jason Mald is a Jewtuber on youtube shorts.
I know that either New Blood or DevolverDigital run faggy ad campaigns over youtube shorts.

Pop quiz, without googling it, what's the username of the stardew valley dev?
To your point:
Pixel (Cave Story), Notch (Minecraft), ConcernedApe (Stardew, previously mentioned), Red (Terraria), Data? (Cortex Command). Terry Toby Fox (Undertale)
I played half of these games and only ever heard of Notch. Normal people (yes, even gamers) don't follow dev names, nor do we care. It takes a turbo-nerd to remember who made a game you like, whether it's indie or tripple A.

He has to actually work on things for him to show it off.

Company names are much easier to remember.

Honestly you should because studios are a garbage way of tracking future good games, follow leads and designers instead.

Yes, but personally, I don't remember those either. I remember names of games I liked and get/share recomendations by word of mouth. "What I am playing now? Have you tried that new game called X? It's by the same guys who made game Y. It's great, you should check it out". That's how it usually goes in my group of friends.

It's not that complicated, I play 2-3 games a month and have a backlog I need to get through that goes back a few years. If I had more time to seek games out I would probably ask myself "where did the people who made a game I loved go next? I'll try a game from that studio." But sadly, life is too busy for that level of sleuthing.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a different perspective on the topic, because it seems like many of you actually remember dev names and all that. That's more hadcore for sure.

I've at least heard of Notch, Pixel, and Toby Fox. It's kind of impossible to know of anything even remotely adjacent to Undertale/Deltarune and not pick up on Toby Fox as a name since everybody talks about him.

What’s his deal with iRobot?
Mald make some grand statements about the puzzles in iRobot.
Basically he made 2 claims:
they took information from a paper mald wrote without his permission
the key to the puzzle was someone's phone number and said person received many unwanted calls due to the errors of the iRobot team.
its an essential mald story where everyone in it is dumb aside from him and he gets to make the additional points of "Hey guys I made a cool cryptographic puzzle aren't I smart". The issues though are that neither of these things are true. One of the ACTUAL authors of the cryptogram(or puzzle whatever) actually worked with the iRobot people, and the phone number was part of an ARG for the show. So basically he was wrong on all accounts but people still go forth with the incorrect information as all of Mald's shorts have like 4 million plus views and people in the comments saying "much smart"

Basically everybody that's in the indie game dev "Community", as in, actively interacts with people and define themselves as an indie dev first and foremost, are just grown up versions of kids who thought game development was cool when they were 12, solely because they thought it would give them clout.
Ah man if I didn't care that much about my personal information I'd have some horror stories about dealing with independent developers in the TTRPG space.
I've said some in the thread but let's just say there's a lot of toxic people a few pedophiles I ran across and a whole lot of petty infighting over a project that still was in development.
It's weird I had the same thing when I used to be in youth organizations that were supposed to be about molding young men into functioning adults with the adults would engage in these petty little power struggles for the petty fiefdoms.

I think Ted K was ultimately correct when he said that people are just engaged in surrogate activities'cause they're not actually engaging in the real power process

Yeah maybe I shouldn't go for round two. Btw this is just from me watching his vods for the debriefing.

The Streamer awards happened. Pirate Software won the award for "League of their own", speech was pretty short and standard and his voice sounded like it does on stream. Nothing clip worthy. I didn't recognize any of the other nominees. He also was nominated for the Streamer of the Year but lost to notorious hooligan IShowSpeed
