Just me, but I don't really adhere to a lead/shotcaller in a basic 5-man; 10-man raids and above, yeah sure, we need a tard wrangler, but 5-mans, there's a little bit of self-actualization. People defending him want to say "Run" was called; discounting that he was well out of combat range for most of the time, you can tell he wasn't familiar with maging, especially frost maging. I'm gonna reference the Teron Gorefiend fight in Black Temple; the fight is relatively simple as there's only one real mechanic, and it's every 60 seconds he marks a non-tank and in 15 seconds or so, that character will just fucking die. But they'll then become an apparition a ways away from the party fighting Teron; and your whole purpose is to destroy three ghosts who are b-lining towards your party, and are immune from all of their damage, so you either kill them, or they wipe your party, and you only have like 60 seconds to kill them before your apparition form dies.
The trick to this fight that many people had to learn was that you essentially become a frost mage; while the names may not be the same, you have a frost nova and a frost bolt to handle 3 enemies. What you do is Frost Nova to hit all 3 enemies, then [cast Frost Bolt at Target 1, Frost Bolt at Target 2, Frost Bolt at Target 3], repeat what's in brackets once, frost nova, repeat brackets twice. It's only this specific method do you kill the enemies fast enough and keep their speed low enough from reaching the party and killing them. You try to focus 1 down, the other 2 are gonna be free and fuck shit up, you need to control all 3 at the same time. I bring this up, because I remember this being a hard thing for many non-mage players to learn; and the simplest way to have them learn was literally "Go make a mage, and I will teach you." They didn't want to and just wanted me to write it down, no, you need to fucking learn what it means to control a group.
And so okay, "Run!" was called... you then have to ask yourself if he performed properly or not, and he did not. No need to rehash everything that's already happened; but make no mistake, Blizzard made what mages should be able to do on reaction as a raid mechanic. Don't mean to repeat myself, mana and other shit aside, he couldn't perform.
