It’s probably not about Ross himself as Mald is very sure he’s a superior being. He’s a cowardly bitch dev. The type who is too scared to even start a ticket, let alone meet a deadline. The kind that when he isn’t whining about every single unknown or possible roadblock before he even gets started, he’s hiding from everyone because he doesn’t like to admit when he’s stuck or lazy. His type shows up to every stand up for months talking about the same damn tickets turning every error or hard headed (wrong!) decision into another delay. They derail all team working sessions obsessing over how you need to use their design or their piece of software and get condescending when everyone says no, all because they think their retarded behavior and obstinacy is indicative of some under appreciated talent. Full of opinions, no results, can’t even be bothered to prototype.

You give this kind of lowlife dev any work, especially if it requires figuring something out, it’s a fucking hostage negotiation. They fight tooth and nail for absurd timelines and try to excuse their way out of effort. An end-of-life plan is work that Mald can’t instantly imagine doing in a single commit (that would still take weeks). It’s the most offensive thing you can ask of his ilk.

QA testing is a part of development, but the QA testers are not developing, therefore not developers if that is their only role. In some companies, generally smaller ones, developers are the ones who do QA. In other cases, QA testers will often become developers because knowing how to develop does help to better know what to test. And since developer pay is generally better, they transition to that full time. Saying that QA testers are developer is akin to saying managers are inherently developers, since management is part of the developer process. While managers at game dev companies should be former developers, it's not always, and nowadays even normally, the case. All that said, he is right that the perception of QA is toxic. They are generally perceived as less important and less intelligent, while being an integral part of releasing a good product. It's kind of like with SKG. He uses like one or two true/good points, then tries use those points to try to paint the whole thing as shit, despite it not being related to the issue-at-hand.

It's funny that he still has this cloak of insecurity around his QA position at Blizzard. The guy is a rather successful streamer, and he has shown that he has the knowledge to develop a game (whether it's good or not is not really important in this case). He should just ignore people point out he was a QA guy at Blizzard. Just like the best course of action would have been for him to ignore the SKG drama after he ran his mouth too much. But he can't because he is cripplingly narcissistic.

Restreaming specifically would introduce a host of problems, one could certainly set up a server that auto-downloads. There's a few existing projects like Tube Archivist, but assuming it can do everything we need it to someone still needs to host an instance and have the storage space to keep all those downloaded 12+hr vods, and god help you if you use a quality over 480p. At this point I have half a mind to, the main thing that held me back was how awesome Vod Recovery was but it seems that's off the table for now.
